ARCHIVED New, Massive Pain When Glutened
kareng replied to Munzie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm not familiar with the ingredients of Heinz 57 but couldn't find the ingredients on Heinz's website. Eating at a restaurant has many ways you could get "glutened". Was it a gluten-free menu? Did you tell the waiter you needed gluten-free? Even with all that, mistakes can be made. Some places don't understand gluten-free and screw up the gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Had A Problem With Eating Turkey Meat?
kareng replied to bayba792's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Most or all Jenni O turkey products are gluten free. Maybe he just can't eat turkey? Maybe its an ingredient you season it with? Or always eat with it? -
ARCHIVED I'm 28 Years Old...my Boobs Are Growing?
kareng replied to glutenfreelizzy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Gaining weight or the new form of birth control seem the most likely culprits to me. -
ARCHIVED Steak And Shake Southwest Chicken Salad
kareng replied to TraceyJo's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
It's not a complete ingredient list. Do they list the ingredients for the tortilla strips, ranch dressing, grilled chicken & chipolte sauce in another place? Doubt the black beans are just beans - usually they have salt at least. Who knows what is in these items. -

ARCHIVED My Hubby Has A Pita For A Mil
kareng replied to Rowena's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Just want to add - We women tend to hold onto past grievances. But there is nothing we can do to change them. They are over. Bringing them back up and expecting people to even remember them - much less remember them the way you do, is not productive. You say you were a foster kid - your parents were probably scared to death that something in your... -
ARCHIVED My Hubby Has A Pita For A Mil
kareng replied to Rowena's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ro - I don't have the time right now to be sugar-coating stuff. Ok, I rarely do that at any time. My mom just died and I have a lot of stuff to take care of, including my Dad who has taken care of her for 4+ years and is now wandering around, sort of lost, looking for things to do. You are a grown-up - with your own life. You need to get past these... -
ARCHIVED My Hubby Has A Pita For A Mil
kareng replied to Rowena's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
As a parent of kids almost your age...I probably would have responded the same way. That note sounds like you want them to answer for everything you think they have done wrong since you were a kid. That's hard to answer. Its also likely that some things a 10 year old or even 18 year Rowena thought was happening wasn't exactly what was happening. That... -
Just an FYI - this is a 7 year old thread. Fluoride is not made from gluten. Avoiding fluoride in water is not because of gluten.

Does your mom see how bad you feel? Make sure she does. And that wasn't even really good mac and cheese! If you are going to get sick....eat the good stuff - not fast food!

Sorry to break in but: This is an important message from the Tiramisu Broadcast Network. When a new and easy recipe for a Tiramisu style food is located, your thread will be interrupted. ARCHIVED Pretty Sure Im Slowing Dying. - Past Gluten Free
kareng replied to Renegade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Don't worry about the blood type nonsense. There is no scientific proof for it. In fact, we had a thread a while back and noted that we had some of every blood type not tolerating gluten. Celiacs have a hard time absorbing nutrition until they heal. You might want to take some vitamins & maybe a sublingual B12. Some will be absorbed by the I damaged... -
ARCHIVED Continuing Gluten Questions
kareng replied to HuberNS92's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Whey is an ingredient. It is a part of milk. It wouldn't have any other ingredients. It might be an ingredient in a protein powder. Most of them seem happy to state gluten-free on them if they are. -
ARCHIVED Scared Of A Colonoscopy

Maybe ask the doctor these questions? I know it won't diagnose Celiac Disease. -
ARCHIVED Continuing Gluten Questions
kareng replied to HuberNS92's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Glutamine isn't gluten. Whey is a part of milk. Both gluten-free. Have you been tested for Celiac? -
ARCHIVED Struggling As A Celiac:(
kareng replied to lexibrowning's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Now I have read your blog on here, I understand your parents better. You haven't actually been diagnosed with Celiac Disease. You cut out gluten and felt better, but without any help from a doctor. To your parents, this is probably a lot like you deciding to be a vegetarian - it's a choice. Could you have Celiac disease? Definitely. Or it could be... -
ARCHIVED Continuing Gluten Questions
kareng replied to HuberNS92's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As for X gum, HF corn syrup and eggs - they are all gluten free. People, Celiac or not, can tolerate them. People, Celiac or not, don't tolerate one or more of them. You will have to see for yourself if those foods bother you or not. -
ARCHIVED Struggling As A Celiac:(
kareng replied to lexibrowning's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
She has had him tested, hasn't she? All first degree relatives should be tested. Bad behaviors can be a symptom of Celiac in kids. I'll be back with the link for his doctor. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Struggling As A Celiac:(
kareng replied to lexibrowning's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know your a little young, but....do they realize that untreated Celiac often effects a daughter's ability to give them grand kids? I'm sooooo sorry your parents don't care. If you were diagnosed with diabetes or cancer, would they care? Celiac is a real autoimmune disease. We have lots of Mom's on here and a few Dads, so you can have some extra... -
ARCHIVED Struggling As A Celiac:(
kareng replied to lexibrowning's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Tell your parents - I think its really sad that a bunch of strangers care about their daughter and her health more than they do. Maybe a kick in the behind will get them to think? You don't happen to go to Colorado State, do you? I could introduce you to my son........ -
ARCHIVED Struggling As A Celiac:(
kareng replied to lexibrowning's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What's wrong with your mom? All she has for you to eat are apples? I'm the mom of a 20 year old boy and I can't imagine not trying to help him with his health issues and making sure he has good, safe food to eat. But...you are 20, so I guess you could offer to do the grocery shopping and cooking until you go back to school? I think your mom should... -
ARCHIVED Confused Whether To Start Gluten Free Diet
kareng replied to kmb4's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No. But there are no legitimate lab tests for gluten sensitivity at this time.
