ARCHIVED About 3 Months Into Being Gluten Free And Feel Like I'm Hitting A Wall...
kareng replied to MattSp1989's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't think there is anything wrong with you wanting a breakfast sandwich. I think the problem is you refuse to make one for yourself. Or make something you like better. With that attitude, you will have a hard time being gluten-free and be miserable the whole time. When you are ready, we have lots of recipes and people to help with recipes - anything... -
ARCHIVED Positive Ppd Test... Latent Tb?
kareng replied to whealer's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Is this what the nursing program requires? As I am remembering, you might not need any treatment, but check this. You might want a second opinion. Maybe google for a site that has good info about TB?- 1 reply

ARCHIVED Otc Relief From Gluten Symptoms
kareng replied to L8discovery's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
IF they can really help digest gluten, that does not make gluten safe for a person with Celiac to eat. "Digested" gluten is still gluten. The gluten is still in the small intestine and will cause the antibody response of Celiac Disease. It won't be destroyed before it gets to the small intestine. -
ARCHIVED Significant Other To Celiac
kareng replied to tinydani's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh.....you have changed what I have been responding to! FYI- from the thread you are quoting- I never said vinegar " kills" Gluten, it just helps dissolve stuck on flour so you can scrub it off. If your home is gluten-free, there should be no more gluten to destroy. Now that I see what may be going on here, I'll wish you good luck and good evening... -
ARCHIVED Significant Other To Celiac
kareng replied to tinydani's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I guess what several of us have tried to explain, but I'm going to be more blunt here, is : we don't get silly about if someone might have touched a package at the store. Honestly, if this was a real hazard, how would the vast majority of Celiacs have healed? Who walks around a grocery store with lots of bread crumbs all over themselves, touching every... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Gene Test Results

Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I don't think any genes have been identified for non celiac gluten sensitivity. Open Original Shared Link I think you have said you were diagnosed with Celiac disease? What does that doctor say about this? -
ARCHIVED Significant Other To Celiac
kareng replied to tinydani's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Maybe that is just how he is? Some people aren't big on going out and doing things. If that doesn't work for you, maybe you should re- think the relationship. I'm assuming you have had calm discussions about this and explained your thoughts. If he doesn't want to do anything, you can't make him. His reasons not to get coffee or a drink, etc aren't really... -
ARCHIVED Significant Other To Celiac
kareng replied to tinydani's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think I listed a few things. You can look around where you live. Go to fairs, outdoor or indoor free music events. If you were going to spend $20 to eat out, use it to go bowling instead or hit a bucket of golf balls. High schools and colleges have concerts, sports events, plays, etc often pretty cheap. Eat before you go. Go to the park - ride bikes... -
ARCHIVED Significant Other To Celiac
kareng replied to tinydani's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think it gets better as you get your procedures/habits worked out. Don't try to make a gluten food at the same time as a gluten-free food - its too stressful and difficult. Might be easiest just to not have any gluten food in the house he lives in. There are lots of things you can do that are not going out to dinner. You just have to be creative... -

You might think I'm crazy but we are having chili tonight! It cooks in the crockpot so it doesn't heat up the house. Then we make some corn pasta to put it on or make it into a taco salad. -
ARCHIVED Any Tips On Controlling Anxiety And Depression?
kareng replied to HumanDecency's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You have turned someone's question about what people do to feel less depressed/ sad and people's answers to that question (including answers that sometimes medication is needed,), into your own agenda. humanDecency - I hope you are able to get a few ideas from the posters that have tried to help you and are feeling better. -
Gluten is not. Common ingredient in cheap glues these days. Partially because it would be expensive and because it wouldn't be water proof.

ARCHIVED Should We Avoid Hot Coffee Cups?
kareng replied to Firuze's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just because something upset your stomach, it doesn't mean its gluten. Coffee can be harsh on a delicate system. CC in places like Duncan Donuts could be high. -

ARCHIVED Any Tips On Controlling Anxiety And Depression?
kareng replied to HumanDecency's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Now....back to HD's question How about ,taking that lovely dog for a walk? Even just down the street and back? A change of scenery, a bit of movement, a happy dog - all helpful. While you are walking or petting your dog or taking a hot bath - force yourself to think of something nice. It can be as simple as what you would like to make for dinner or... -
ARCHIVED Any Tips On Controlling Anxiety And Depression?

He is expressing his opinion. I think its obvious its his opinion. You are expressing your opinion. Is it not dangerous for you to tell someone who may need medication -" I have yet to see any evidence that drugs can give you positive effects without any negative consequences." You aren't backing your opinions up with scientific evidence. You seem... -

ARCHIVED M&ms
kareng replied to megsybeth's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm a little confused...your kid eats m&ms and you get cramps & D? Are did you mean your little one does? Anyway...Plain m&ms are gluten free. But maybe something in them bother you? Your child? Maybe switch to a different reward? Maybe a sticker? matchbox cars? skittles? Jelly Belly jelly beans? Whatever would be a good reward.
