ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original
kareng replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
This is the stuff they were asking for. I noticed the granola bars and those may have peanuts. He said only about 3 parents said they would bring stuff so I get to take a couple of kids to Costco and buy what we need. I am going to ask Costco what can be returned (unopened). I am thinking a few, simple items. I'm also wondering why none of thier... -
ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original
kareng replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
It was rhetorical but if you have some ideas, I would love to hear them! The kids in charge of the concessions want to have a bunch of things, but I'm trying to limit them to coffee, hot chocolate, juice, 1 diet soda, 1 caffienated soda, 1 non-caf soda, mini-muffin packages, granola bars, candy, chips (let me go look at the list & be back) Hours... -
The Op hasn't been back since "he" posted this. Wonder if the "gluten head" caused him to forget his password? This happened to me. I made a Facebook page and promptly forgot the password. Then realized I had entered the email wrong, too!

ARCHIVED Found Something For Inflammation
kareng replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I stopped the tea. I was having stomach issues. I don't think the tea was the issue, butn I stopped it. My joints are hurting today, but I did a lot of UP and down these bleachers (first step at 2 foot off the ground) and no back rest, etc. Might try to find the tart cherry stuff Patti mentioned. -
ARCHIVED The Total Iga And Total Igg : Can Lack Of Iga And Igg Be
kareng replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
She beat me to it. That was what I was going to say. If you want a "real" diagnosis of Celiac - you might need to start eating gluten, again. Otherwise, save your money on these tests. -
ARCHIVED Looking For A Few gluten-free Alternatives
kareng replied to prairiemamma's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We love Chebe breadsticks! I have heard that some people roll them out thin and cut into crackers (put a piece of plastic wrap on the top and bottom when rolling gluten-free dough as it is usually very sticky). We make them with Asiago cheese in them -have done Parm & heard that a dry cheddar is good, too. I cook them part way, then take them out and... -

Would love to come Lisa! Don't really love oysters, but that isn't the point! Robotics team is hosting a First Lego League scrimmage - 150 grade school kids and thier families! And like Janet - if M has to work it, so do I. How much concessions do you buy for this? -

I think the opposite might be true. But if you need calories, whole milk is even better., Its still only 4% fat. We are having Minksys pizza tonight. I'm having "Nature's Choice" -Artichoke hearts, zucchini, green peppers, mushrooms and onions, topped with sliced tomatoes and slivered almonds. -

ARCHIVED Anemia/vitamin Deficiency Without Villi Damage?
kareng replied to mars817's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Did you have the blood work for Celiac? Get a copy of the pathology and procedure reports and the blood work (if done). Read it yourself. See how many biposies were taken. It is quite common for a doctor to miss the spots with the damage which is why they should take at least 6 samples of the intestine. See if the doc even read the results. Or even... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Ingredients
kareng replied to deb-'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
To add to Ad's stuff - did you use an old colander to drain the pasta? Its really hard to get all the little bits of pasta out of the holes. If you are new to gluten free, you may just need time to heal. You could have an issue with another ingredient not related to gluten. Its possible it was something you ate earlier in the day, too. -
Interesting question. Have you tried googling "sugarless Meringue" ? I saw several things with artifical sweeteners.

Here's a basic list. I know there is a really long one but some of these things are listed separately to make the list longer. Open Original Shared Link Here's a really long one from a reputable source a doctor would like (the one above is reputable, too): Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Have To Pay To Get A Copy Of Your Test Results?
kareng replied to MoMof2Boyz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
List as many things as you can think of that were done or tested and make sure the office recieves them. For the longest time (a year) my bone scan kept getting overlooked when asking for info to be sent. The office may not want to make copies of records from another doctor. that's an iffy legal thing. They should be able to read them to you or let... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Have To Pay To Get A Copy Of Your Test Results?
kareng replied to MoMof2Boyz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm assumingyou are in the US. Yes they can charge for copies of your records. It was upheld by a Supreme Court about 25 years ago. Are there ways to get around this? Yes! They must send them to another doctor for no charge. You could get copies or a look from your family doc. Some offices will even hand you the copies to take to an appointment... -
ARCHIVED A Freedom Diet? Im So Lost!
kareng replied to Dejibo's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
As long as you are feeling better. But you realize some of this doesn't really make sense.? You grind almonds even more to make almond butter than you do to make almond flour, as an example. Just hate to see sick people getting taken advantage of by people with little to no medical education. Glad you feel better, reading about the Paleo diet might... -
ARCHIVED Petition for Gluten-Free Labeling on White House Website - Celiac.com
kareng replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
From my experience trying to write what became HIPAA, it takes a long time getting these "fringe" things passed. Even when you can get legislators excited about a bill, it gets re-worked and, 15 years later, becomes a law that resembles, but is not really, what you wanted. In the case of HIPAA, I wanted more restrictive laws like Kansas had at the time.... -
ARCHIVED Petition for Gluten-Free Labeling on White House Website - Celiac.com
kareng replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
Just going to saythat my 16 yr old just signed it and he was over 25,000. I think having a law gives us a place to start. This petition does not guarantee we will get a law but it is better than doing nothing. -
ARCHIVED I Want To Kick Tostitos, And Myself, With Equal Ferocity
kareng replied to tictax707's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
gluten in corn or rice, etc is not a concern for Celiacs. Gluten as a plant term is a protein in all grains. We use it as a food or Celiac term to refer to the proteins found only in wheat, rye & barley. -

I was going to suggest that, too. But then the power went off at the server! Maybe we could make the "report" button red?
