  1. Thanks for all the cat advice! Here's the brief version of how I got her. She lived a couple of blocks over, Cooper & I saw her when we walked and they liked each other. She seemed thin and had burned feet when it was 106 F out. Other neighbors said that the people who live there have a fancy pure-bred cat & dog. When they bought this house...
  2. She's not purring. Seems like she is trying. Maybe she doesn't know how? She makes a little throat noise but no vibrating.
  3. I'll put the whole story here in a little later. I have a "rescued" or stolen cat on my lap helping me type. We have never had a cat so I have some questions. What does it mean when a cat "kneads" or digs with ger front paws on you? I can barely type with this behavior
  4. Check www.mcdonalds.ca for ingredients in Canada: "White Meat Chicken McNuggets®: Chicken breast, water, modified corn starch, salt, seasoning [yeast extract, salt, wheat starch, natural flavour (vegetable source), safflower oil, dextrose, citric acid, and rosemary] natural extractives of rosemary. Breaded with: water, wheat flour, yellow corn flour,...
  5. Here's the ATF (US Govt Agency for alcohol) ruling that beers made with barley cannot be labelled gluten-free. Page 5 is where the important stuff is Open Original Shared Link
  6. I use all those things. Just watch some of the other flavors of chips. We got a butterscotch with malt (barley)
  7. First you asked for advice about non-Celiac gluten intolerance. Now you say you had a wheat allergy? It is possible, from what I have seen, to out grow an allergy. While I am happy for you that that supposedly has happened, don't you think its a bit odd to come on a website for Celiac Disease (which can't be out grown) and tell us all the "wonderful...
  8. Not sure if any of these are helpful for you. They might help someone who stumbles on the thread. Open Original Shared Link You want bring along food so things that can go for a few hours without refrigeration in most weather & doesn't need cooking Nuts crackers with peanut butter, almond butter, etc Corn or rice cakes (check for gluten...
  9. Hey! Let's not overwhelm the poor guy (?) with all the foods that he could, maybe, find a problem with. Let's get him started being gluten-free for a few months, first! Then, if he is still having problems, go for it! cm
  10. I would eat it if its been in the freezer. It won't get moldy in there. Just take a piece or two out at a time and let it thaw or toast. These dates don't mean stuff isn't safe afterthe date. It usually just means that, in the case of bread, it will dry out in the freezer and not be as good as it could be.
  11. If you aren't eating gluten, it will be hard to get a Celiac diagnosis, if you have Celiac. You don't make antibodies to gluten if there is no gluten.
  12. Actually there is a law. I posted it. One of our biggest stores here said they didn't know about it. I'm trying to decide if I should give them a copy of the ruling or just try to report it to the ATF.
  13. Here's the one I was looking for by Tom:
  14. It appears that in the US, beers made from barley or malr beverages, may not claim gluten free. It was explained somewhere (I'm looking for it but if someone else finds it first, great) that the test for gluten used for food doesn't work well in detecting the protein in barley. From the Goverment agency in the US that regulates alcohol, a May 2012...

    ARCHIVED Vinegar

I didn't know that ! That explains why the salad dressing I made with this new bottle of rice vinegar didn't taste quite right. This new one is the 4.2%. I bet my last one was the 2% because it tasted good right out of the bottle. I had never heard of coconut ones. That's good info for future readers. I might get some for fun.
  16. First - you hardly qualify as an "older adult". Second - It does say when adherence to the diet is not followed Go to the GI. Maybe get another endoscopy to see where you are. Follow a strict gluten-free diet. That is the only "cure". You could get a repeat endoscopy in 2 years and see if you healed. The other thing is that you really aren...
  17. Krista, they don't take the bacon out of the Hormel package and put into a Kirkland or Kroger package. The company that makes bacon for Hormel (as an example) makes the bacon and puts it into a Kirkland or Kroger or Hormel packaging. That is why, many times, the cheaper store brand seems as good as the more expensive name brand. They are made in the...

    ARCHIVED Vinegar

Rice vinegar has a nice, milder flavor. Great for salad dressing. In the Asian isle at most stores.
  19. what I'm am trying to suggest to you is that : if you have issues with this website,, rather than make comments in a post that a mod should do somethng, offer to help this be a better place. Talk to the person who makes the rules & purchases the press clipping service and offer to help. I'm done arguing for tonight.
  20. I'm saying that if you have a problem with the "moronic, useless articles" that appear here, and you really want to improve the site, you would discuss this with the person who is in charge of what goes on this forum site.
  21. I think this is just one of those people who like to argue for fun. Correlating gluten problems with political leanings is just so silly it appears to be meant to incite arguments. I don't really get it but these people are on the internet. Sometimes they come on here. I remember two that openly admitted they were here because they liked to argue. Next...
  22. If you wish to recommend a way to make this site better, why don't you PM Scott with your suggestions?
  23. I agree with Lisa. I use Neutrogena products and sunscreens. I just saw an add for that grapefruit cleanser. Thought my boys might like it if it smells citrusy?
  24. Can you see the "group" under Dr B's photo? Perhaps he had something to sell? I would be careful about his "info".
  25. If she has conjunctivitis, she may have a virus that is causing other things besides the pink eye. It doesn't make sense to me to put wheat in something that goes in your eye.
