  1. Gracie update: The "owner" talked to my friend that had been feeding Gracie. Gave her the cat's shot records last night. A bit late! She claimed to love her and be glad she had a new home (next door neighbor told her about me). But the house has been empty for 2 weeks and she wasn't too worried about the cat. She still owns the house because of some...
  2. Just an FYI. This thread is 5 years old. Practices and ingredients change in that period of time. If you are buying from bulk bins there is a very real risk of cc from bins that contain gluten products. People may use the same scooper from bin to bin. Stuff may get dropped into the bin. I have seen people grab food out of bins with thier bare fingers...
  3. That's too bad. Here, in the US, I haven't found any that have gluten.
  4. They never emailed me back after the stupid response about the amount of gluten being suitable for diabetics. Any company that doesn't known the difference between gluten and glucose is scary for anyone consuming these products.
  5. Sometimes the ink on bread wrappers , gluten-free or not, gets washed off from moisture going in and out of the freezer. I have had gluten-free bread or rolls smell sour after a while. I know its bad then. I think white spots are probably a mold. Because penicillin is usually a blue mold, probably toss it. gluten-free bread seems to last as...
  6. Looks like the large ones are gluten-free. Didn't check the small ones Open Original Shared Link
  7. Peanuts and cashew aren't the same family at all. If you have some scientific or medical evience of that or that they have gluten, please share it.
  8. Eat things you know must be safe like the apple. But eat.

    ARCHIVED Beer?

Just a reminder, as we have discussed many times, Estrella Damm Daura is made from barley and may or may not have gluten in it. The US Alcohol and Tobacco Agency has said it cannot be labelled gluten-free in the US.
  10. We have had these discussions before. As I'm remembering, we haven't had anyone able to find a reputable, scientific source for the "cross-reactivity theory". Mostly its been "articles" and "studies" by people with something to sell.
  11. This has nothing, directly, about Celiac or gluten but... My FIL is a dentist. Somehow that makes him qualified in all aspects of medical care. I remember being pregnant and him giving me medical advice about the pregnancy (not related to my teeth). When I was diagnosed with Celiac, he had nothing to say. We figure he was in the bar for that class...
  12. Oh! Bunnie! I'm so sorry! How awful for you!
  13. You might want to find out what diagnosis he is using to order TPN. Then have a discussion about that.
  14. Muscle testing proving she doesn't have gluten intolerance or Celiac? These poor people who throw so much money at these "cures". I find these things rather sad, not funny.
  15. This was on the Univ of Chicago Celiac Center's Facebook page in response to Dr.Davis talking about his Wheat Belly book on CBS: I was quite surprised to see that CBS news would provide unquestioned credibility to Dr. Davis, the author of Wheat Belly, on CBS This Morning on September 3rd, with no knowledgeable physician on the program to present...
  16. Not sure why the ones you have seen are not "safe". I didn't know what it was, so I googled it. The 2 kinds I looked at listed the sugar as the only ingredient.
  17. If you have been gluten-free for 8 years, its unlikely a little gluten for a few days will get enough antibodies in your blood to register positive.

    ARCHIVED Taco Bell?

Email taco bell? They know the ingredients

    ARCHIVED Taco Bell?

Never assume ingredients. Taco Bell has almost nothing listed as gluten-free. It is unlikely the employees know what is in the food either. Always keep something with you. Maybe in your purse or car for times when you are really hungry. A Lara bar/gluten-free granola/gfprotein bar, package of nuts, etc. That way you won't make these mistakes. Some...
  20. Ice cream? Fritos? Snickers? Plenty of junk foods that are gluten-free. Sorry for the breakup. Concentrate on what you want to do now.
  21. I'm going to address several issues here and I'm going to be blunt. Not because I want to hurt anyones' feelings but because I think you need to hear it. 1. "Nobody can stand my food". - Make a big pot of chili or beef stew or roast chicken and potatoes and carrots. IN the crockpot so it smells good for hours if possible. When its time for dinner...
  22. One week update: She fits right in. Hub, who doesn't care for cats, lets her snuggle on hs lap! She enjoys going on the screened proch but hasn't tried to get out. We are working on keeping her off the kitchen counters and table. M was gone all weekend camping and doing the state snake count (our state likes to count various animals). He got home...
  23. I don't know a lot about DH but .... could it be something else? You have been gluten-free for many years, maybe its something else?
  24. I agree with Lisa. Now this applies to the US and Canada.. If you live in a more exotic locale, the rules could be different. Look at some of these lists. Of course, we can't list everyting that is safe or the list would be too long...bananas, oranges, white rice, brown rice, etc. /celiac-disease/safe-gluten-free-food-list-safe-ingredients-r181/
