ARCHIVED Gluten & Skin Products/drugs
kareng replied to AngieJoy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Some medicine is made very small so that it can absorb thru the skin. Gluten molecules are large. call them if it makes you feel more secure. -
I would take it. Sounds like they don't test for gluten so they won't commit. Sure there could be a risk of cc but with a medication, I would think its tiny. Very few meds seem to really have gluten in them. Even if they made a med with gluten on the same machinery as they made this one, they would clean it. I would think that a drug company would...

Lots of stuff. You can make it sweet with sugar, almond milk, raisens, cinnamon. You can add cooked chicken, beans and rice to it. Look for a coconut rice recipe like they serve at some Asian places. You can use rice noodles and put pesto on it. You can make it with any green you like, not just basil. Leave out the cheese.

ARCHIVED Shell Fish?
kareng replied to bossley's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Not sure what you are asking. There are people who are allergic to shellfish, Celiac or not, and that is really bad. If your asking about gluten, as long as they aren't cooked with a breading or wheaty soy sauce or something with gluten, they are fine. I eat shrimp often. -
Here is info from 2 "experts" The Celiac Center in Chicago & the Celiac Center at Columbia. we can bombard you with more info from reputable sources, but they all say the same thing. Open Original Shared Link

You can make as pumpkin "pie" with coconut milk or almond milk. No crust. Just bake in the pan. Beans. Refried with celery or rice chips to dip. Nuts? Peanuts? Pb on celery or apples or gluten-free rice cakes. Any other nut butter on apples or gluten-free rice cakes. I think there are yogurts made with coconut or almond milk. Do you have...

We use Rice Chex sometimes for a training treat. Unfortunately for him, he is so well behaved, he doesn't need them much. He loves the Blue buffalo grain free duck biscuits.

The good news is that there are many grain fee dog foods. A thing to remember with pet food is that gluten free does not mean what we think of as gluten-free. You will probably need to look for " grain free". gluten-free pet food can still have whole grains of barley or wheat. It doesn't contain a junk pet food additive called gluten which can be...

ARCHIVED Gluten & Skin Products/drugs
kareng replied to AngieJoy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Most things can't pass thru your skin. The molecules are too big. If everything could pass thru, you couldn't touch anything. Lotions can go thru the dead top layer of skin but they don't go into your blood stream. -

ARCHIVED New And Need Hope, Guidance And Support
kareng replied to AnnJay's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
With all the travel, you probably haven't been as gluten-free as you can be at home. Why don't you try a strict gluten-free diet of simple, unprocessed foods. Just meat, veggies, fruit, rice, spices. Skip the sodas and the ice cream. You may want to go dairy free for a few months, too. Celiac makes it hard to digest dairy, at least in the beginning ... -
ARCHIVED Just Starting Out, Afraid Of Cc
kareng replied to Dandelion123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Tho this doesn't have anything to do with the original question, I think you aren't understanding what we are saying. One more example: People only eat watermelon for 2 months a year then go 10 without. They don't become intolerant to it because they weren't eating it for a while. Maybe she always had a problem with tomatoes that was masked by her other... -

ARCHIVED My Name Is Couscous, Corn Couscous
kareng replied to Persei V.'s topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My Grandma used to make that. We called it "Smush" but its really called "cornmeal mush". We ate it for breakfast with maple syrup or brown sugar. -
I don't have separate dishes, plates, spoons, forks, etc. I do have separate pans because we wanted new ones anyway. We have separate colander for gluten pasta. A separate cutting board for gluten bread. A separate toaster. I have new gluten-free cooking utensils like stirring spoons. I have new "Tupperware" stuff for gluten-free. We have 2 dish sponges...

ARCHIVED How Do I Get My Old Password Back?
kareng replied to bartfull's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
you should be able to change your password back to something easy to remember like "Karen is great!" In the upper right corner, there's a long box with your name. Click it and then "My Settings" then "change password" -

ARCHIVED Post Gluten Free Anxiety And Depression
kareng replied to Keshavdas's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Have you had your B12 and vitamin D checked, too? Those can give you mood issues, too. I don't see why a man who is really low shouldn't take some iron. I think they don't like healthy men to supplement iron as they don't need it and have no way to get rid of the excess. Remember that dairy should not be eaten with the iron food when you are trying... -
ARCHIVED Just Starting Out, Afraid Of Cc
kareng replied to Dandelion123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know a few people like you , who are going gluten-free for reasons other than Celiac. They try to be gluten-free & don't cheat, but they don't worry about minute cc like a person with Celiac has to. Not sure if that will work for ADD or not. I'm assuming you don't want to get tested or have been tested & it was negative? -
ARCHIVED Fast Food French Fries
kareng replied to stephaniesherie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Found this on thier website. However, as I remember the last one I went to, the fries were made in thier own area that you could see from the dining room. Its a very large and busy Red Robin, so maybe a smaller one would have a shared fryer. You should always ask. "Seasoned Red Robin Steak Fries do not contain any wheat/gluten allergens; however, there... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Lymphoma
kareng replied to runnergurl2012's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Maybe that's the only complication he knows? Maybe saying "lymphoma", people hear "cancer" and he thinks that will scare you into being gluten-free? You might use the google in the top right corner. We have had lots of articles about lymphoma podted in the last year or two,
