ARCHIVED Omg What Did I Do ...i Took A Chance Ugh
kareng replied to tammykinz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Why are you gluten free? Diagnosed or just experimenting? I think you found your answer. There were so many things wrong with that meal & dessert from a gluten free perspective (not just the fries). Never eat anything that has touched gluteny bread. Not sure how the chicken or ribs were cooked but lots of places put soy sauce (usually contains wheat... -

ARCHIVED Need A Little Help With Shopping
kareng replied to tammykinz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know people do make breads in the bread maker. Just be careful if you have made gluten breads in it. It's hard to get the flour out of every little space. Also, about 10% of Celiacs react to oats. It's usually recommended you don't try them until you are healed. -

ARCHIVED Dish Soap
kareng replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Dawn. It resonably enviromentally friendly. I got an email from the company that it is gluten-free (about 1 1/2 years ago) I don't think the "regular" types like DAwn & palmolive will add an expensive wheat ingredient. I'm not going to worry about it unless they start advertising made from plants. -
ARCHIVED Dealing With My Son Working In A Restaurant

Heard that anywhere before Lo? Tell Tony we said to shake his clothes off before he gets in the car. As soon as he get in the house, do not get a gatorade, do not grab a cookie, do not check the ball game on TV, go straight to the shower. Take the clothes off inside out. Leave on the bathroom floor. Brief shower to get the crumbs out of the hair... -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Done Major Home Renovations Post gluten-free?
kareng replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't think cutting a little hole for an outlet would be too bad. It is the major drywall project that would leave dust everywhere. What everyone is forgetting are the heating/AC vents and intake. Once you get the dust in there, it gets blown around the house. If you are doing a room at a time, you might want to block them off well with plastic and... -

I'm not certain but when I looked at "blogs" I saw a button on the right, above the other blogs that said "Create a new blog" (or something like that). I clicked it and it gave me the rules to agree to. Did you do that? I didn't want a blog so I didn't go any further. -

Only 2? And brief? You didn't want me to play did you? I like the " Don't Panic". It will be our secret club phrase! Try to find the humor in the situation, even if you are the only one that thinks it's funny! ( this happens to me a lot as you all know) -

I told him the whole story. I put it on FB. He said to tell Max that he really shouldn't need to refer to them very often. Also, he said that he feels that he likes to have a broad vocabulary. Therefore, balls, nuts & testicles are all used in his social & sporting world. Tho hopefully not in his interview! -

I'm thinking of sending him to Rachelle. She needs a manny. However, I fear that J & Max together might be a dangerous combination. -

He just got back. He said it was mostly a " this is the job. Are you interested?". Said they will decide next week. Who knows? No mention of money. It's a " summer internship" so it's possible it doesn't pay. -
ARCHIVED Ok, Now I'm Upset
kareng replied to Roda's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Makes you mad! Maybe you can find out what the snacks are & which ones, like the fruit snacks he can have with the other kids. It would be nice if he could accept some of them. You could let him know which he can have. It's confusing for him because he may have fruit snacks and home made crispy treats so he thinks they are OK. -

ARCHIVED Advertisers

They are probably in the " ads by google". I don't know exactly how that works but if you mention something a few times, and ad for that will pop up. We were talking about gluten-free pizza and ads for Papa Johns came up. If we mention " Sexy singles" a bunch, a dating service ad would show up. Wonder what we would get if we kept talking about monkeys... -
