  1. For your FB friends: Oh for goodness sake! Chill people! Give her some ice cream before bed everynight. She is old enough to know that this is a temporary thing - enjoy it while you can. You could add healthy fats to her food. You can sneak a little olive oil into or on a lot of stuff like that asparagus. Avocado & coconut if she will eat them....
  2. Great minds think alike!
  3. Try printing the sheet about what tests are neccessary to show the doctors. I have found that this has helped with our docs. They like to have info from another doc not some stupid patient. Highlight the exact test names and ask for those by name. "Celiac panel" sometimes has some extra stuff thats not neccesary. Open Original Shared Link
  4. In the US there is no law about what gluten-free means. We have some great companies that make things and put gluten-free on them because they don't put anything gluten in them. But they don't test. If they had to test, it would be too expensive. For example - a grocery store chain labels canned fruits & vegs gluten-free. The only gluten was someone...
  5. He is very focussed if the job deals with machinery or physics or sports or food. My other is extremely focussed if the job requires animal care, making fires, cooking over a fire, video games, canoeing, etc
  6. Yeah! right! He was watching re- runs of The Office and saying, " Yeah! That happens!". " this is just like my office" Apparently, there are men in the office who can make an entire sentence out of cuss words. He finds this hysterical.
  7. J's summer job report: He gets a desk & a computer in a room with others in "short" cubicles (you can see over the top if you are tallish). He has learned that: -When the boss leaves, a ball is tossed around the office - Call in sick if the weather is nice - If you use a germaphobe's computer, expect him to spend 15 minutes cleaning...
  8. I have seen egg substitutions descussed around here. Try using the Google feature. You might find some things. I wonder if applesauce would work in pancakes like it does in gluten cake?
  9. Do not fear The Cheese! He comes in peace! The cheese should be fine. Are you wondering if the store cuts them & where? Our grocery does cut some fancy cheese into little pieces. The fancy cheese has its own counter area and place to cut it. You could ask your grocery about where its cut. I would think its a big job, so its done on a clean counter...
  10. The info on this thread is old, even ancient in the gluten-free labelling world. McCormick lists what is in the spices and its usually just spices. 5-10 year old spices probably aren't very flavorful anymore. You might start replacing them as you use them. I know I have some I won't replace because I used the once and didn't like the recipe. ...
  11. And I feel fine!!!! Oops, singing along What a wonderful world - Louis Armstrong
  12. So agree! What I'd say - Ray Charles
  13. I want to get in touch with these celiacs. I have swamp land. the Brooklyn Bridge and a cure for Celiac I want to sell them.
  14. If you all start blogs, I will feel obligated to follow them! So I better tell you what I expect from you! - Funny - Yummy recipes with beautiful pics - Silliness - Cute pics & stories of your kids & pets but not stories about Joe and Myrna's cruise (& I don't even know that Joe is your second cousin on your mom's side) - Humorous
  15. Did you not know that IHOP is short for International House Of Pancakes? If it was Intl House of Gluten Free Pancakes it wouldn't be as catchy? IHOGFP?
  16. Why do you say we should know better? It's kinda gross but is it really dangerous to eat the eyes, or ligaments or hide in small quantities?
  17. You'll start absorbing your nutients better, soon. Is the doc planning to retest in 3-6 months? That is probably a good idea.
  18. How long have you been gluten-free? If it's not long, you will absorb better when your intestines heal.
  19. I believe Bob has played a few times on my boys lacrosse teams.
  20. I was just at HyVee yesterday & forgot to look. I'm going soon. Keep your virus on your side of town, Miss!
  21. Nice to hear a good doctor story!
  22. Field trip to Ireland to visit Strawberry!
  23. Go to the GI. Tell him/her your issues. If they are going to do an endo they might as well biopsy while they are in there.

    ARCHIVED Tipping

We don't go out often but we do tip well for gluten-free service. I always mention that I actually have Celiac. Some places have even asked. For example, the local pizza place when I order a combo that has Ital sausage. The sausage probably is gluten-free but they couldn't confirm it so they consider it non gluten-free. They asked if I had Celiac because...
  25. Thought of something else. If you get new spoons, etc Try to get them in a different color than the gluteny ones. I got red. Get some colored masking/duct tape. I use red. You can put it around the handles of your pans or spoons. Put it on the lid of your PB, Jelly or butter tubs. It shows up better than just marking the jar with a sharpie.
