  1. The univ of Chicago Celiac Center sent me the stuff for genetic tests to be sent to Kimball labs. They are $395. Just a little FYI. I think it would be better spent to get the celiac blood tests to see if she has active celiac. I think they were about $300 but our insurance paid for my kids to get them because I have it. It is a " family history" code...
  2. Don't think my dad used any Sharpies.
  3. Allow me to rant, too: Why in the world do we need wheat in hot chocolate! Thank you! I feel better.
  4. When my mom was rehabbing and in a nursing home, I think my dad was enjoying his time home alone.
  5. Hi Row! Welcome! You appear to be twisted enough to not be scared off. But I'm already taking care of Oey & Dixiebell....Someone else has to walk, feed & clean-up after Row. Sounds romantic!
  6. The colored kind is a cross between real duct tape and masking tape. I hand wash my pans and utensils most of the time. So I don't know would be the answer to that. The paint pens can usually go through a couple of times before you have to re- do. But that depends on the surface you write on.
  7. Wear your Lady Gaga costume. Maybe with some devil horns.
  8. You can get utensils and containers in red if they don't already have that color. I also use Duct tape brand masking tape that comes in colors. I put the red tape on my jely, PB, pan handle, etc. I have red cooking spatulas & spoons. The tape comes in lots of nice colors so, pick your favorite. You can get paint pens at the hobby store & Walmart...
  9. They sound nice. So assuming they are reasonable- I would just tell them calmly that, because you are new to this gluten-free thing, you are still learning. You didn't know in the beginning all the stuff you are learning now. For a few months, you are not eating at anyones house but yours. You have found it's not as easy as you thought and that there...
  10. You need a better story than "fell out of bed". How about: Fought off a home intruder your parachute failed when skydiving Played for the (insert favorite pro football team, soccer, hockey, basketball)
  11. Ewwwwww! Green pea juice everywhere!
  12. I've got it! A. Magenta b. 1 1/2 teaspoons
  13. Hope his dad is better soon. I like made up stats better than real ones. Take a creative writing class.
  14. Its not gluten free if its made with wheat. Why did you think the gluten-free pasta was made with wheat?
  15. Thanks for putting us out of our misery! Was so tempted to start posting ideas like foster care placement, plane ticket to live with a far off relative, tune-up of mom's meds. So this is odd. Hub hasn't said Happy B day or even mentioned it. Usually, he would have said that he is busy Monday, should we plan another day. Usually, he & the...
  16. I think you need to talk to your boss. They cannot expect you to go 3 days on Lara bars only. Actually, looking at the list of things you can't eat, its rough for you at home in the best of circumstances. If you were in a wheelchair, they wouldn't expect you to stay somewhere with no elevator. Or a diabetic to eat donuts only for breakfast. Chicago...
  17. Fruits on little sticks are more fun than fruit salad, can add marshmallows or not. I have used cookie cutters (not used for flour based cookies) to cut cheese or deli meat slices slices into shapes for the holiday. You can find vegan and gluten-free recipes on the internet for cookies and cupcakes. Not sure how good they are. Home made caramels or...
  18. Are you saying that Russell is actually Gaga? The hub, kids, hospital job and cake decorating are all a clever ruse to cover this fact?
  19. Do you have a problem with vinegar? Only malt vinegar is made with barley. A lot of it is made from wine or apples. Your parents sound like they listen. You will be fine.

  21. For travel, I bought myself a frying pan and a saucepan. I also got a folding colander, a big spoon, spatula. I got those thin cutting boards that are about the size of a big placematt. I even got 2 dish towels since condos never seem to have enough of them.
  22. How are new kitty and old kitty getting along? Did you keep his name as Bilbo?
  23. I think you can get married at Disney. The ultimate Cinderella dream! There was a thread a few weeks ago about going to far destinations like Thailand. Some depends on how much you want to spend and how many people you want to follow you. It's on this travel thread - gluten-free destination wedding
