  1. I have been gluten-free for 9 months and still have to catch myself once in a while. Its just a habit to take one or eat the leftovers. My kids have threatened to stab me with a fork if I take a cracker from thier plate. (I think they sometimes secretly hope they will get the chance.)
  2. Are you feeling better? Have you been consoled?
  3. You'ld be the only one. . Love how people only read the first 1 or 2 sentences of a post and respond. ( this is short so everyone will read the whole thing)
  4. Now I'm posting in Em's quote.
  5. I usually say " I have Celiac Disease". I usually say that an allergy to wheat, rye and barley. I have found people don't know what gluten is. The word I hate is " sprue". My PC doc always says , " you have Sprue". Now that I am gluten-free, rarely does anything " sprue".
  6. Elizabeth hasselback was on Survivor. She said that her guts felt better than in years because of not eating and only eating small amounts of rice. After she came back, she realized she had Celiac because of that experience.
  7. I think you will have to talk to the person organizing and explain that you have extreme food allergies. Being preggers, you can't chance that you might eat something wrong. When you aren't eating, people will want to know why. If it's like my neighborhood, they will feel a little sorry for you and go with what you want. Especially because you are pregnant...

  11. If the wheat is on your nails, a little might get on your food or if you lick your fingers. Also, Wet n wild polish is gluten-free but I can't find where I got that from. I think it was a post on here. Also, OFF bug spray has gluten in it. Cutter is gluten-free. Of course, lots of hair spray and styling products have wheat protein. Some lotions...

  15. Happy birthday, Lexi! Tell us nosey folks what happened!
  16. Good explanation, Peter. Another thing to consider are the companies that say the product is gluten-free but don't test. They make a product that likely is as gluten-free as any tested product. For example, we have some small companies that make products like hummus or sausages or dips/ salsas. They don't use any gluten containing products in those kitchens...
