  1. I remember as a kid reading a book or maybe a movie, where in the future, we would eat a pill a day with all our nutrients & food. This would cure all our dietary problems. With my luck, it wouldn't be gluten-free.
  2. Just heard from the PCP office. Bones are only a little less dense then should be - so I'm mostly solid. Iron is way up, almost normal. Wants me to see the saintly GI to follow-up & diet advice (how will that help 2 months from now?). Not sure what he would do. Had to tell the nurse that he had told me things that did not agree with what I had read...
  3. We have a nice ($$$) restuarant here with this on the gluten-free menu "...dressing contains a potato starch that is the same as flour" & "No Potato Products". Makes you feel real confident that they know what gluten-free means. Got a response from the head chef that basically said that they think potatoes have gluten.
  4. My husband & sons have been known to chase a few snowballs. In fact youngest, throws them for Puppy & chases them himself. Have to rush off to my bone density test. Apparently they can't tell how dense I am by talking to me.
  5. Just looked at the US site www.campbellsoupcompany.com . they have a small list of gluten free products but broths & no soups. Hopefully, they will follow Canadas lead soon. Sent them a "comment" that we would like gluten-free soup in US. Maybe if they get a few emails they will consider it.
  6. Its your turn. Thats what we had all weekend. See not green with envy.
  7. Who knew my simple question would turn into an ode to Blue cheese. I love it on crackers & steak!
  8. There is an Emerile recipe on abcnew.com from a GMA apppearance. Easiest way to find it is to google Whoopis soup. It is a squash & apple soup I've been wanting to try. It has a tiny bit of milk in it but I think it would be good without. Also, 1 tbsp of cornstarch but maybe you could replace with potato flour.
  9. Yeah Lisa!!!! I'm going to have salad for lunch.
  10. I've seen things saying that blue cheese, which I think makes a salad worth eating, is not safe. Then I saw a resturant's gluten free menu with blue cheese on it. Help!

ARCHIVED Gi Heals In 7-10 Days?

Actually, after my endo, I found out that there is a GI practice that is good with Celiac. The good thing is that he knew what to biopsy & I know enough to go from there. My PCP was great. If I have a medically sound reason for a test, he agrees. I do worry about others who don't know as much, as GI offered no advice or help with diet, etc. Good...
  12. I have been gluten-free for almost 2 weeks. I'm still a bit emotional because it is a big life change, could effect my kids, could result in other illness, etc. I keep getting headaches but good high cacao chocolate helps a little. It supposedly works on endorphins in the brain (so does exercise). Try to find something happy. I bought red spoons, spatulas...
  13. Is it possible she really isn't Celiac. Some people like to have whatever the "in" disease is. I had a relative that had to have whatever disease is in the news. I have another one who is only related by marriage but will have to one up me with more food allergies or maybe she'll have Celiacs, too. We have to do our thing & ignore them.

ARCHIVED Gi Heals In 7-10 Days?

UPDATE: My PCP was much more helpful. He let me have my Pathology report. The top portion & most of my small intestine is pretty much flattened. No way that grows back in 10 days. We have put the GI up for sainthood as he is performing miracles.
  15. I'm 48 (cough, ahem). I am just starting too. I found that alot of what I already made is gluten-free or easy to make that way. This website has alot of recipes & connections to blogs with more recipes. I haven't time for all the one that sound good. Good Luck!
  16. Just got back from the PCP. He was very nice. Agreed to run any test I had a good reason to run. As a result, I had to leave them about half a gallon of blood. Got to pee in a cup too!!! Gave me a copy of the path report from my endo - complete & utter destruction with lots of different cytosis. To heal in 7-10 like GI said is a miracle (not sure...
  17. It could be lots of things but: When I was extremely anemic from this Celiacs, This sort of thing would happen more often. That was because my blood couldn't carry oxygen like it should. My Hub has this when he gets dehydrated.
  18. I would love to try this. Do you cook the meat, potatoes, etc first?
  19. Years ago, I had a boy in Cub Scouts that was allergic to alot of what, we thought, were strange things. Bandaids & tapes were some. If he got a cut & it needed to be covered, we used gauze & the tape but... wrap the gauze all around the finger or arm in many layers then tape or use a stretchy head band to hold it on. Alot of trouble but sucessful...
  20. Oh YES! I went there many years ago in off season so weather wasn't so great but loved it! So relaxing. Lovely birds. (insert lovely water bird picture here)
  21. My OB/GYN was the one who thought I might be Celiac. They tested me for iron, B12, Cacium & more. Iron was very low. Extreme anemia makes you very tired. I'm sure they will want to test you for that.
  22. Cook some stuff on your day off. If Kiddos are old enough, they can "help". I get chicken, microwave & cut it up. Add to rice & broth & some frozen veggies. Add chicken broth (many regular kinds are gluten-free) & frozen vegs or the rest of the carrots in the fridge. Scrambled eggs take a minute if you can do eggs. Cut up apples, carrot...
  23. Congrats! Nothin happens on the dungeon compooter. Someday, when the beautiful new computer is working, maybe then...... Have to wait for a new disc to connect to to internet. Old disc is too old. New Orleans sounds great!
