    ARCHIVED Heart Burn

At McDonald's, the fries are cooked in dedicated potato fryers at the front of the store, while everything else is fried in the back. The only other things that go into the front fryers are the hash browns during breakfast, and they are also gluten-free. Cross contamination is possible, but it is not from shared fry oil.
  2. Corn starch is gluten-free, even if modified. Modified starch has been partially broken down. Nothing has been added. It is true that some people with celiac disease have other food intolerances, and corn can be one of them. But the majority of us tolerate corn, and can safely eat corn starch and modified corn starch.
  3. Please provide your source for this assertion. Until recently the only brand known to contain wheat was Nathan's, and they have now changed their formula and are gluten-free. Please also identify the specific brands which you say contain gluten, and the origin of the information on their gluten content.
  4. Yeah, sure, lord it over all of us, Oscar!
  5. It appears that some things were lost in the upgrade, incuding some subsciptions. You are not the only one to notice this. If you go to the topic and subscribe again, everything should be as you expect.
  6. We've just done a major software upgrade here a couple of days ago, and there are still some kinks to be worked out. This is a new one to me, but I have not gone through the registration process in years. If you have two incomplete registrations, we can find and delete them, thereby releasing the bind to those email addresses. Post the screen names (not...
  7. A fix has now been applied that should have resolved the upload problem. If your photo is not being displayed correctly, please upload it again.

No, it means that you are looking at the "New Content" view where the pin indicator is not showing. That is something we are working on, cuz we need that back.
  9. There is definitely a techincal issue with the new board software with repsect to personal pictures. It is one of several known issues that we are looking at. Most personal photos which were in place prior to the upgrade are not being displayed. It seems that all upload attempts are failing.

    ARCHIVED New Format

This was a major upgrade--many things have changed. The look and feel is different and we all all feeling our way round, including the moderators. There have been a number of issues identified. Some of them have been resolved, and others are still being worked on. Please bear with us as we work them out. Ask questions and post issues here. We will do our...

  12. OMG! OMG! Look at DingoGirl's post count. There must be something magical and energizing in such a number.

    ARCHIVED New Format

Look on the right hand side of the page near the top. There is an RSS icon, and near to it is a clickable item that says "View New Content." That is the function you are looking for to see topics and posts that are new since your last visit. To mark everything as read (for example, when you are done for a session), there is a clickable item at the very bottom...
  14. Soozle, look on the right hand side for "View New Content" just to the left of the RSS icon. But it appears that the upgrade has resulted in everything being marked unread, so it may not immediately work as expected. When done, there is a "Mark board as read" item at the bottom of the page to reset everything.
  15. Caramel color is one of those celiac urban myths that just won't go away. Here is Shelley Case's take on it, from Gluten-Free Diet A Comprehensive Resource Guide: [Emphasis in original]

    ARCHIVED Off Limits?

Two of your posts have indeed been removed, but I don't know the specifics. A common reason is that a user starts two or more essentially identical topics, usually in different forums. This is a violation of the rules, but one which we don't normally issue warnings for. We do remove all but one copy. It is permitted to mention products, books, foods...
  18. Happy New Year to all. Just a quiet evening in for us.
  19. According to every credible source that I have seen, MSG is gluten-free. Period.
  20. No, it will not. Posts you have made will remain.
  21. Yes. Enjoy!
  22. Tis wonderful to see you here again.
  23. Nothing in the US regulations requires that the label be clear on gluten-free status. Barley need not be disclosed. But if one of the eight major allergens is present in a food sold in the US the presence of the allergen must be disclosed. It doesn't have to be in a separate "Contains:" list, nor does it have to be in bold type. It can be buried in the ingredients...
  24. If it is sold in the US it must conform to US label regulations.
