  2. Oh yes! A reaction trumps ANY test. That is why an in office challenge is the "gold standard". If a test is + but you KNOW you react, go off the food. If you are + but know you DON'T react, a food challenge with the Dr's guidance is the way to go. So I should not have said "sure" cause as most here know...immunology is a pretty inexact science
  3. Right. That's what I mean. I am sure your Grandmother would skin and blood test + with that reaction. But again, if you took 10 people off the street and tested them for milk, 1/2 would test + but NOT actually be allergic to it.
  4. I have gotten in contact with the company and they are really working with me on this to figure out what is up. It seems to have to do with the thickness of what I was testing. They have given me new instructions after speaking with the scientists and we will try again after final confirmation that this is the issue. They are also sending me out replacements...
  5. You can have a large reaction to a skin test but NOT be allergic to it 50% of the time. So yeah, they are about that accurate That is testing for IgE allergies which are the ones that cause anaphylaxis. There are other reactions but they would be classified as "intolerances", not "true" allergies. Things like GI issues and skin issues (when found alone...
  6. With the inconclusive first biopsy, I am not willing to do a follow up. Also, when we talked to our GI this week she said she wouldn't do that for at least another year. As for accidental ingestion, we have a long list of food allergies as well. I would think we would have seen allergic reactions before if x-con was the issue. He is to young to "cheat...
  7. Just so you know, allergy tests are only 50% accurate for a positive test. So while you may very well be allergic to tomatoes, you may not be. If you want to test the theory you can take them out and try them again (with guidance from your Dr.!) A negative test is about 90% accurate.
  8. Go it. Thanks! This paperwork says <20.
  9. Isn't the range <20 for a ttg? So no, it isn't near the low end.
  10. It was commercial mustard. I just rested a regular cookie and the strip worked. So it appears it's the mustard specifically that is the issue. Thing is, I emailed them prior to ordering asked specifically if I could test mustard and they said YES. I will call for a refund for those tests because of that. I am upset as I still don't know if the mustard...
  11. I didn't re-read before posting. That should be EZ Gluten test strips.
  12. I do understand the "don't feed it" but with the limited diet my kids have it is a matter of using what I can to get them to eat anything. I never doubted these products (nothing in the labeling makes me think they are unsafe) but we have had issues with levels not dropping so there are a few food that we haven't gotten confirmation on so we were going to...
  13. At big expense, we have now wasted 2 of these strips. In an effort to test the very few things my DS eats that aren't said to be gluten-free or confirmed with manufactures, we ordered these strips as a last resort. 1) There was no information on the web site we ordered from that heat was an issue with these strips. The sat out in the 90* heat all...
  14. We are huge fans of Custom Probiotics. They gave us a sample that lasted about a month. We were sold! They are pricy up front but they work out to about $10/month. DS is gluten-free, dairy, egg, soy, fish, shell fish and a few others free.
  15. So I took a long break after I had a meltdown. I will try again. Thanks for understanding My 4 year old has been gluten-free for about 13 months now. His ttG's were at 126 or something to start with an "inconclusive" biopsy. We were given the options of going gluten-free or biopsy yearly. We chose going gluten-free. At 6 months his levels...
  16. Thanks for all the help people! Really. I have tried to help others here and get nothing when I need something. I know nothing is owed to me but I am so over this board.
  17. Any ideas what I can expect and when? DS has been gluten-free for 2 months now. What should I look out for? He's already been up screaming 3 times in 4 hours. I am so sad and angry. Also, we were suppose to get blood work done 6 months after going gluten-free. Do you think they'll want to push that back?
  18. Yes, our son was totally asymptomatic.
  19. Food issues can 100% cause sleep issues! Yes yes yes! My DS went from up every hour (yes, around the clock) to sleeping 6-8 hours after taking out a long list of allergens!
  20. Annie's Naturals make a good BBQ sauce that doesn't have any of the crap in it like HFCS! I also know Brianna's Dressings are safe as well. Good luck!
  21. The benefits of breastfeeding far outweigh that of formula ESP. with food allergies! It may not be easy restricting your diet *if* your new baby has an issue but it is totally doable because of the positives! I had a long list oh no-no's while nursing my son but only dairy and egg for my second. Good luck to you!
  22. They could both be connected with food allergies too. Food allergy testing IS NOT 100%. The blood tests can be incorrect. The skin tests can be incorrect. They are a place to start though. Trials of suspected foods are the best way to figure it all out. I would also suggest a Celiacs blood test and a SERIOUS food log. Log EVERYTHING! You may see...
  23. While I was nursing my son he had MAJOR sleep issues, poop issues and the red allergy rings around his eyes and anus I did 2 dairy trials (6 weeks each) with little to no improvement. At 1, we gave him daily and he was very ill. Tried eggs and was VERY ill. Took him for epi pens and a referral for an allergist. We found out he has a long list of allergies...
  24. Hugs Mama! A lot of what you are saying sounds like it could be celics bit I also see a lot of things we experienced with food allergies. Has she been tested for them?
