  1. That would upset me too. No Mama should have to do it all. I hane two suggestions for you: 1) Tell your husband exactly what you need. It would be nice but most of them don't read minds. There are so many things I *wish* my husband just knew, but he doesn't. 2) Wear your baby, it'll leave your hands free. Hugs to you!
  2. We had a + blood test but inconclusive biopsy. We are now in our second month of the gluten-free diet and seem to be having some positive results. We won't get any confirmation for a while yet through blood work. Good luck!
  3. Sorry, I was just going with what another posted said. Didn't mean to scare anyone
  4. Thanks. We can't use Earth Balance (corn). I have the BC cake mix not the cookies (dairy here too). We'll see if the egg sub and spectrum work!
  5. Oh I know. As I said, I get WHY people use that analogy. I was just saying that it is a great time to educate people on Celiacs (though I also get that there isn't always time for that!) I wasn't trying to start anything I just worry that if *you* (a general you, not anyone specific) tell people it is an allergy, it may lessen how they react to...
  6. Anyone try this mix with coconut oil or spectrum shortening?
  7. I have to say that I get it that it is so much easier to say allergy. It makes people perk up and take it more seriously. I think educating people about the seriousness of being "glutened" is very important. To compare it to a peanut allergy is a little upsetting to me, the Mom of a kid who DOES have a peanut allergy. If you eat gluten, you get sick....
  8. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do but we did it. Hang in there Mama! I tried really hard not to let my son (3 years old) see how very nervous I was. I would cry at night, in the car, in the shower but NEVER in front of him. We talked about it over and over starting 3 days prior to the procedure (which was suggested by the Child Life specialist...
  9. Not sure if you have any interest in this. I have never tried it myself but have a bunch of friends who have. Open Original Shared Link
  10. I am sure you already have checked this out, but are you sure there are no kids with nut allergies in the kids classes?
  11. Thanks Mommida. Yes, we do the sunbutter stuff and enjoy life as well (why is it dissed?) Cherrybrook Kitchens is a staple too Rice milk on cereal is a staple here too. Love the bacon with water chestnuts! I LOVE those. Why didn't I think of that? Thanks!! I am also looking forward to trying the cake recipe! Do you have a safe vanilla...
  12. 200+ people looked and nothing?
  13. Hello! I am looking for kid friendly food ideas for my 3 year old. We are top 8 free plus corn, citrus and bananas. I would LOVE some new ideas for the family! Things that are easy to part out into vegetarian (my husband) and meat eaters is a plus! Thanks so much!
  14. If you take any allergy/antihistamines prior to testing it can cause false negatives. Allergy testing is NOT 100% accurate. Skin or blood! The only true test is an allergy trial. Many Dr's don't do these. Testing can give you an idea. Food logs can be really helpful too! Listing foods, times eaten and any reaction you feel you may be having. Good...
  15. Wow First off, hugs. I too am a food allergy Mom with a Celiac chaser We have done all the traditional testing so I don't have a ton of advice. If you suspect leaky gut, there is a subheading on this site for that. If you suspect that, how would it be treated? I would start there on your own if you need. I assume you have done probiotics and...
  16. While a milk and soy allergies don't directly cause Vit. D and iron to be low, if you are suspecting Celiacs that could be cause the malabsorption. Also, being dairy free can cause Vit. D diff. because that is one huge source of Vit. D (the sun is the best for it but with people slathering sunscreen kids when they are out they don't get enough with sun exposure...
  17. I read it as the biopsy was already going to happen before the blood work was back but I reread and see that's not the case. As for goat's milk....many people with a dairy allergy can NOT deal with goat's milk either. The proteins are very close. Is it an allergy or intolerance you are thinking? Also, I would stay off ALL animal derived dairy till...
  18. A GOOD probiotic for a month or so every day may help (like I said, I have no idea if it would work but figured it was worth a try. That seems like a lot of testing for a little one. Are they going to do a Celiacs biopsy when they do the endoscopy? It seems a little rushed and possibly premature to do it when you don't even have blood work to back up...
  19. Congrats Have you ever tried papaya pills? I am not 100% sure about the gluten content but they are better for you if they work. You don't want to over do the calcium in them because they can cause the placenta to calcify.
  20. Have you tried a month or so of probiotics to see if that heals his gut? I had a friend whos daughter had something like this going on. After a month of probiotics, she is 100% fine, gaining weight and growing like a weed. I only say this because it happened right after the antibiotics. hth and sorry you are going through this. It is tough!
  21. Was going to suggest Whole Foods but saw it's not going to work for you. Sorry
  22. Thanks so much everyone! We are starting to muddle through this all. It is so draining in the beginning though. Like I said, I know it could be a lot worse! I also am hopeful (though not counting on it by any means!) that maybe if his gut can heal maybe some of the other allergies will go away!
  23. Thank you all so so much. I just feel like I am so deflated at this point. I know it could be worse. I know there are people with longer lists. I am just having an emotional day I think a BIG part of this is that I have tried to feed my kids an all organic diet since they started eating table food and that doesn't seem possible now with having to go...
  24. I just want to feed my kid and I can't. He's 3. He is picky. He can't have: gluten corn soy dairy eggs citrus fish/shellfish nuts/peanuts bananas He won't eat the (expensive) chicken nuggets I just wasted my time and money on. It's the only protein he really eats. I am just at a loss and so so sooo depressed.
  25. Thanks SO much for all these links! I will get to researching them Truly, thank you so so much! I am excited now
