  1. We have had high tTG's for 2 years now. Biopsy done 2 years ago was negative. Went gluten-free 2 years ago. Original tTG- 120 6 months gluten-free-48 12 months gluten-free-38 18 months gluten-free-36 We have scrutinized his diet. I have called on products that aren't in labeled gluten-free. I have tested foods that were in question with Gluten...
  2. Everyone has a comfort zone and we do not do play-doh at all. I don't feel good about just washing hands after playing with it. My son sucks his fingers too so that's an added thing we deal with.
  3. If that is what this was, since it isn't a consumable they don't need to label it. Also, soy oil is not considered "allergenic" because it's so highly processed that it's rendered "allergy free" though there are many people who may react to it.
  4. It may be easier for you to do a food log before you start eliminating foods. Have you tried that? If you really want to go to the ED, look at Dr. Sears. He's a ped but is the go to for ED's for Mom's trying to figure out what's up with babies.
  5. Have you tried a really good probiotic? My DS has many food allergies. He also has Celiac. Until he was off everything (dairy, egg, soy, peanut, tree nut, fish and shell fish) as well as gluten AND on a probiotic for about a month. We are huge fans of Custom Probiotics. They sent us about a months worth to try before we purchased it from them. I ordered...
  6. You can buy test strips. They are about $12/each. E Z Gluten I believe is the name. We got them when trying to figure out something hiding with DS's diet.
  7. Is she going to be able to tell you she's feeling better? It doesn't sound like there is much that you would be able to observe so unless she is very verbal and in tune with her body I am not sure how useful it will be. Will it hurt her? No.
  8. There was a female Dr. I saw speak last year at a Celiac conference. She was kind of like the House of Celiac. I will look in the morning to see if I can find her name. Edit: Duh. I was so excited to see that I might be able to help I didn't read the past part. If you aren't willing to challenge I would try and find the funds to go see her. She's really...
  9. That just isn't true. I know of many kids 3 and under who test +.
  10. I'm not saying that you aren't reacting to it but there is a reason for it to be labeled as such. The majority of people with actual soy allergies CAN tolerate soy oil because of how highly refined it is. I believe the number to be in the 97-98% that can tolerate it. Just as MOST people with peanut allergies are fine with peanut oil. Anyway, hope...
  11. I don't ask "is it okay if it's XYZ/gluten free?" because if I am bringing it, they can eat it or not! If they don't like "vegan/veg/allergy friendly/gluten-free" they'll pass just like if they don't like peas or carrots! Also, because so many people ASSume that these kinds of foods taste bad, it's kind of nice for them not to know and take one, like it...
  12. There are a TON of options if gluten is all you are avoiding. -rice crackers -rice cakes top those with peanut butter/sunbutter/hummus -string cheese -yogurt -fruit -veggies Just to name a few. Schools differ from one to another. Some are better than others! Is your DD diagnosed with Celiac? If you need, Celiac is covered under the...
  13. I wonder if it's corn causing some of the issue. That could explain the Mortin. Also, we can't do bananas so I feel ya there. DS has a condition called FPIES that can/does (for him) cause him to go into shock from them. I really hope you can get things figured out. It is tough to get through but know once you "get it" it'll be like night and day...
  14. Do a google search for Gluten Free Gang. That should help you out some.
  15. As an allergy Mom as well as Celiac, I strongly suggest getting to an allergist. You need IgE testing with that reaction which is sounds like wasn't done? (I can't see your post to double check that but I think that's what I read). IgE testing is for allergies that are more likely to be anaphylactic. The other Ig's are more intolerances and the like. ...
  16. Was it your ped who said to try dairy every 6 months? Cause what you are describing sounds like it's headed to an anaphylactic reaction and I would get to an allergist and get some dpi pens. And NOT try it every 6 months. That sounds down right dangerous to me.
  17. My go to "butter" is Earth Balance (not the soy, i don't do soy) and Fleishmanns UNSALTED sticks (for baking/frosting and the like). My son has Celiac as well as allergies that include dairy. I make 90% of our dinners gluten-free/DF (as well as peanut, tree nut, egg, coconut/palm, banana and blueberry free). It isn't that tough once you get the hang...
  18. Just water to be so (obviously YOU know this) that just because there is no "shared line" on a product doesn't mean it isn't. I know TJ's doesn't label all this like this so I am glad you've been fortunate with that! Also, the jojo's? Aren't those like peppermint patties? I have a recipe that's gluten-free to make them using of all things (ready...
  19. I don't get all the worry with shared line. I get the risk of cross contamination. Do you trust products that don't say "made in" or "on a line" or do you call about each product? I ask because that waring is voluntary. Just because a product doesn't say made "on a line/in a facility" doesn't mean it isn't.
  20. I have said many times before, people don't tell you about this stuff when they talk about how wonderful parenting is! It isn't all hugs, kisses and sunshine When dealing with medical issues, it is just heartbreaking at times! Hugs to you both. There are 2 ways to allergy test. One is a blood test and one is skin price (there are 2 other types but...
  21. If your DD is off gluten, what exactly were you expecting the Dr to do? There aren't any tests (except the genetics which isn't exceedingly helpful) that can be done wile gluten-free. I also agree that 1) 2 days on gluten isn't going to give you reliable results and 2) I would suspect food allergies with that quick a response (which would be good as those...
  22. Yes and yes. I also know that is not the typical presentation and a very serious yet uncommon condition.
  23. Agreed! While DS *may* outgrow his food allergies, he nor anyone with Celiac will outgrow that! And yes, there should be a ZERO tolerance policy in food establishments when someone says they can't have something! Any chef worth her/his weight SHOULD be able to cook up something safe and free of cross contamination for people with food issues (as long...
  24. IrishHeart, I am so not trying to start anything and I appreciate your understanding. I SOOOOOO see both sides of this! I do understand and I think most people here do, really! I think ALL food issues are so tough to deal with. People just don't get it. THEY can eat anything they want and can't even believe someone can get sick or die from...
