  1. So I have been experimenting a lot lately for a class I am working on. I like what I am coming out with for the most part but things seem so dry. Any ideas on how I can change that with the limitations of gluten-free, DF, EF and SF? Thanks
  2. Red Robin and Chipotle are the only 2 places my gluten-free, DF, EF, PN and TN free kids have eaten. RR is very allergy aware!
  3. We had a large drop at 6 months, 2 its at 12 months and only 2 more at 18. We went through diet. Got test strips for things not labeled" gluten-free". We had new pots and pans so we knew that wan't it. He's only allowed food from home at school so that wasn't it. At 18 months I demanded some other tests and we found wacky TSH levels. After a few...
  4. I am so very sorry. I have said before we have an gastroenterologist, immunologist, endocrinologist but it isn't an oncologist so really, it's manageable. It truly does put it in perspective for sure.
  5. If you use oil you have to cut the amount. I have been told that 1 cup butter.marg = 3/4 cup oil.
  6. There are literally a TON from what I hear. Open Original Shared Link That should help. I am not from there (up in the Cleveland area) so I haven't been to these but maybe it'll point you in the right direction.
  7. Oh no, it is his thyroid. TSH's were all over the place and he's been on synthroid for about 3 months now and and they are normal. They won't dx it as hashi's because his T3 and T4's were not leaning towards that but whatever....I think think it is hashi's but he doesn't fit the clinical picture for them so they won't say it (ya know, like many here know...
  8. We are almost 2 years gluten-free. DS's ttg's dropped but were not back to normal after 18 months. After few strange TSH levels he was dx with a thyroid issue (though they won't say it's hashi's). Because his ttg's were still strange we did a different test (deamineated gliden or something) and we found out that was totally normal which means that his...
  9. Got it Prickly! I was also wondering how the "new laws" will change anything. I thought they were being tagged onto FALCPA which doesn't have any says in the restaurant world.
  10. I don't think it's anywhere near the same thing. The cooking process would kill most "germs" like salmonella. As long as you don't put anything cooked where anything raw was, you are good to go. Gluten in a whole different animal. Where you store it, where you cook it, when you wash your hands after touching other things and on and on. The opportunity...
  11. I don't know a lot about EoE but I do know there's a great group of parents at Kids With Food Allergies forums that are pros at it! Maybe check it out! Hugs and good luck!
  12. There are not. Many parents with kids with life threatening food allergies pack for the kid....always. As in a no food that's not from home rule. It would be nice but the reality is, just the these restaurants, there is no exclusive kitchen for allergy issues and often cross contamination isn't even considered when ordering through the sources the schools...
  13. While I do understand the POV of the center, I don't see how you bringing in food would violate anything as long as you ate it away from the children. Maybe offer to brush your teeth after too just as an extra precaution. I wonder if they allow any of the students to bring in food, because if they do, there is no reason you should not be able to. I...
  14. If you read into the testing, the accuracy is questionable at best. They talk about cells being destroyed when introduced to XYZ when that's how cells are suppose to act so it isn't really telling anything but that the cells are reacting how they should. Sorry it wan't more helpful. I know it's expensive.
  15. It is a very personal decision. I will say, I am a very strong believer in breast milk for babies. I have been on some sort of elimination diet for 5 years now through 3 kids. The fist was the most difficult (more allergens and being a first time Mom just learning all this stuff!) Now, it's just life. Breastmilk is best for babies. Even for...
  16. it is a learning curve to be sure but you can do this! If gluten is the only thing you are avoiding you have tons of options! That's the good news! There are a lot of places on the web for great and easy gluten-free cooking ideas for kids. We have been gluten-free for almost 2 years now and I (personally) think it's one of the easier of out allergens...
  17. I would start with removing all milk (including hidden dairy and baked in) for at least a month. If after that there is no improvement I would think about testing but nothing you said really shouts out Celiac to me.
  18. Intolerances are really a big issue and not something to mess with. I think the reason for differentiating is that an intolerance isn't going to kill you were an allergy can. Because that's a pretty big difference, using the proper terms does become an issue. Again, they are both serious and the treatment is the same but the ramification of ingesting...
  19. There are several kinds of immunity. Those responsible for allergies (anaphylactic) are IgE. What you were tested for was IgG (from what I read in the other thread). IgG mediated issues (usually GI in manifestation) are not allergies. They involve immunity but aren't considered an allergy by mainstream Doctors (or those who deal with them too).
  20. Actually I think you mean "Non-dairy". Dairy free is usually dairy free. Non-dairy is NOT dairy free. Stick which whole food. We are dairy, egg, gluten, most soy, all nut and a few other free. Is there something specific you are looking for maybe that would narrow the search for you? Also, I haven't seen anything mainstream with goats milk in...
  21. If you ever want something like a 504 plan for your child for accommodations in school, you will need a DX from a Dr. If you have a Dr. willing to dx based on the above or other things (an already + parent or sib in some cases) great! Some are willing to look at the obvious while some are not.
  22. SassyCat, I have a call into out GI Dr. for a letter of need for a 504. I also found this link helpful in what to ask for: Open Original Shared Link Maybe we can help each other through this process! Hugs!
  23. The 96 food test is usually not an allergy test in most cases. It's for intolerances and not even really good at that. Depending on what lab is doing it, there is no good research that it has any level of accuracy. Patch testing would be for more intolerances as well. I assume it is a naturopath or chiro doing this testing?
  24. That pretty much sums it up. What is in your 504 plan? We are starting down the 504 road and I don't even know where to start with what to ask for. HELP!
  25. This isn't true. It isn't as common but toy can get an outgrow allergies at any time in life. If you have an IgE allergy (epi pens and all that) I wouldn't try anything without your Dr's advice. If it's an intolerance, you may overcome it after a strict time of avoidance. If it is Celiac, as mentioned above, it isn't an allergy OR intolerance. It...
