  1. Hmmm. Well, thanks for the info. I've never had a flu shot either as am not real happy about taking prescription stuff and vaccines. I'm almost 60 & it was recommended but I have think twice. Thanks
  2. cassP ~ Just curious how you feel about things like flu shots. Honestly, I never thought about the ingredients that are in injections.
  3. I agree with that bincongo!! Can I ever leave my list of safe stuff at home?? LOL
  4. Thank you for sharing this. I stupidly bought a new box without checking the ingredients first and sure enough when I checked the box in my cupboard - gluten!
  5. I'm less than 6 months into this and have a ton of learning left to do but could it be that our body changes with what we can tolerate. If we eat something now and then eat the same thing a month or so down the line and get sick from it could it be that our tolerances - or lack of - change as we go? I feel like I am more sensitive to certain foods now than...
  6. Gluten Free grocery Shopping Guide by matison & Matison is a great purse sized book and I always have it with me. Like everything else though it was accurate at the time of publication so you still need to check ingredients but it is a great starting point.
  7. Thanks ~ will give your suggestion a try. I'm "tired" of needing 10+ hours of sleep! Don't have time. lol
  8. I live by that shopping guide too but still have to check the ingredients every time you buy. Stuff seems to change over night sometimes. grrr
  9. I have appreciated the kind and often times gentle advice on this board. I think that especially when a newbie we wonder if everything in the world is out to gluten us. I worry about every crumb and fuss over packing my lunch (sealed in zip-locs) in the same picnic basket with my partner's wheat sandwich. Which may be over board but it's all such a learning...
  10. Annies dressing is pretty nasty - Wishbone is pretty good and marked gluten-free.
  11. my iron was low so dr put me on supplements. After 2 months am still really tired but was supposed to be retested for iron count in 3 weeks which I haven't done. We have been traveling in our rv for the past 2 mo so have the test scheduled for as soon as we get home. Maybe the iron is still too low.
  12. I won't take the wine cause others have sipped after they take the host. Too much room for CC. I guess that it will just have to be done in my heart.

Gluten hides so many places - it's frustrating. Be sure to check the Zolpiderm. I take it and it was fine last I checked but things change. I was taking a hormone only to suddenly find it on the Gluten no-no list!
  14. My first day without the coffee and I've been grumbly all day. But hopefully omitting it will help. I am also going to try the miralex. We are rving right now and won't be home till the end of Sept and have a dr appt scheduled for then...... Thanks for all the suggestions!
  15. I have been gluten-free for 5 months and for the past 6 weeks or so I have been having bad dreams at least once a week or more. My spouse has to wake me as I am yelping in my sleep. Usually someone chasing me & I am trying to escape. Also I am so exhausted during the day even after sleeping 9 or 10 hours. I am usually ready for bed around 4:00 - I...

you might want to check on zolpiderm which is a generic. I believe that is gluten-free. Last time I checked it was.
  17. So glad I stumbled on this as I don't feel so alone! C has been my biggest issue since I was very little. I drink water, walk daily, take fish oil and magneseum, eat dairy little to never, eat lots of fruit (could add more veggies), have never really cared for banana. Two stool softeners in the morning and two in the evening were working for awhile (6 weeks...
  18. Don't know if Lara bars will meet all of your requirements but they come in several flavors and are quite good. Some CostCo sell them if that is close to you. You can also order on line from Costco with no shipping charges.
  19. San Diego has the Wm Warren Medical Center with a great Celiac nutritionist and educational meetings.
  20. if you eat something that makes you sick why would you want to continue eating it? I am almost 60 years old and only 5 months into this and it is very hard to change that many years of eating and Yes! I hate it. I hate it because I really really dislike cooking however I really really love life so guess it is almost a no brainer for me. I don't like getting...
  21. your posts on dog food have been so helpful! We have 5 dogs and I struggle with the gluten food ~ I understand the hand washing constantly! I don't mind the cooking for all of them it's the amounts to give them. How much per pound. The smallest dog is 12 lbs & the largest is 85 lbs. Also how much % meat, veggies etc. Whew! Celiac can be so over...

  23. I have a dehydrator and would love to use it but can't figure it out. like what temp at what degree for how many hours....... Anyone know how to use one?
  24. Some Teva generic drugs are made in India which I believe can use wheat as a binder. (correct if wrong please). I recently had to change a medication back to the name brand because of that.
