  1. around $ 300 or more for 2, 1 is celiac. We try to buy some organic and lots of fresh fruits & veggies. That is what gets expensive, not so much the "celiac" food.
  2. vinegar is a good cleaner. dilute 50/50 with water. I use it on my wood floors, counters, almost everything. The odor dissipates quite quickly. Simple Green is also a good all purpose cleaner - gluten free.
  3. I don't know about you but I think I vote for paper plates !
  4. I don't know that I would want to buy a used machine that was used for gluten containing bread. I know you can clean a machine well, but... I just wouldn't feel safe.
  5. you are so right rybabyo ~ we will never have back our "old life" and the way we used to eat and it does get old. I used to take eating in a restaurant for granted - something we did all the time. Now it is a major treat to go to a gluten-free place (like Outback) where I can have a normal meal - not a salad. lol It takes such an adjustment time. It's...
  6. when in dobt take your own. It does get old sometimes but... better than sick.
  7. Hormel marks its meat gluten-free. I was so excited to see their deli meats. It'sd the small things in life
  8. some day I was the dust balls roll across the floors and other days I go after them. I think I'm getting better. At least I want to chase them now instead of just watch them!
  9. sibling aren't always terribly forgiving! LOL My brother has pest control out every 6 months cause I scared him when he was 2 by saying dandelions were bugs coming to get him. Ow. I was awful!
  10. is fiber-con better than using metamucil?
  11. I so understand!! We were recently motel-ing it for a week. The motel refrig malfunctioned & froze all my veggies & fruit, the stuff in the freezer all thawed out - the final straw was when I took my loaf of bread out of the the ice chest and it crumbled into a zillion bread crumbs! I sat on the motel floor in front of the refrig and cried. !!...
  12. I was diagnosed with bipolar depression about 14 years ago. After reading I now wonder about it. I am 7 months gluten-free and have just now started to cut back on one of my meds. I am doing this without my head dr giving the ok as he keeps putting me off & doesn't know celiac ~ he thought only children got it. So far so good.

Feels so good to feel so good! So happy for you!!
  15. I had heard that Breyers will not confirm on CC. Since hearing that I have avoided but then I am not a big fan of Breyers.
  16. I have been on iron supps since June & levels are still low - am I sleep 10 hours a day. I switched to liquid iron 3 weeks ago and have felt some better this past week. Just a thought?? Liquid is supposed to absorb faster.

    ARCHIVED Back Issues

I've had back issues as long as I can remember but so much better now. I used a TENS also but no longer need it. Not sure if this is allowed - is there anyone that could use it? They are an expensive item.
  18. wine glasses smash beautifully too! lol I am a bit of a klutz.
  19. "aren't you a little over the top about this cross contamination stuff?"
  20. I found this "recipe" and have followed it faithfully for the past six weeks. After a lifetime of issues and months of severe C (I was taking daily laxatives) I'm working! sorry - this is sort of long 1. Every morning take 2 stool sofetners & a glass of fiber supplement (metamucil or similar) 2. right after consuming the fiber take a L-Glutamine...
  21. depends on where I am. If in a restaurant then I say "extremely severe food allergies" cause that people understand. Otherwise "I have Celiac" is enough.
  22. my friend was thrilled when I cleaned out the kitchen as she ended up with all of my cast outs. I did get rid of a lot of plastic stuff, especially anything that was scratched and am switching to all glass. Things sure do smash when they hit a tile floor. Lol
  23. Marilyn R ~ I love it!! "Thank you for bringing my old favorite, and for noticing that I can't have it even though I'd love to." Why does it seem like others always point out how yummy everything looks & smells and then look Directly at you??!! grrr. have a lot of new favorites now, thank you.
  24. my own brother asked me what gluten was - as he helped himself to another piece of bread. explained (again) and he told me that we all die from something. grrrrrrr
  25. Almost age 60 and only 7 months celiac. Do I like it? hmmm Some days I hate it and other days I don't mind so much. Each day I think it gets a tad easier. What I do like is that for the first time in my life I feel healthy and am eating healthy. I am enjoying trying new foods and (on some days!!) learning to cook. Overall - I don't like it and I don't...
