  1. Lol I agree. My blood work would be "to the moon and back" as we have at least a glass every day & go wine tasting once a week. I always figured that I would handle the food limitations of gluten-free as long as i had my wine!
  2. Gluten free as a current fad is not necessarily cross contamination free.
  3. ravenwoodglass - you mentioned dry itchy burning areas could be celiac. I have been gluten-free for 10 months. Before going gluten-free and even now I get dry, red & burning areas around my lips. Actually I look like a kid with major chapped lips. Embarrassing! I was using Burt's Bees but have switched to plain vaseline as a lip gloss. Any thoughts...
  4. I am pretty picky about where I will eat. If the restaurant is approved by the Gluten Intolerance Group then I am ok. Fast food - nope.
  5. Sorry but they need total separate ingredients bins before I would eat there. Pulling from the center isn't good enough. The thought of gluteny hands putting cheese etc in there to start with...? no way. I know CC can happen anywhere but at a fast food/sandwich place it seems it would be more common. Not for me.

    ARCHIVED Ambien

I have been taking Zolpidern (generic for Ambiem) 1/2 tablet, 5mg, for about 4 years. I wish that I didn't have to but the options at this point aren't good. If I take the full 10mg I do what my family calls "the Zolpiderm thing". I have shopped on-line without being aware - my son found me & walked me back to bed. I found myself in the backyard gazing...
  7. I cut out soy when I read about how we have genetically modified it to the point of where it is actually harmful for us. Ever feel like just planting your own food so that you know it's natural??
  8. I have been on prilosec for the past year. I have tried to wean off of it and am ok for a couple of days then it feels like pure acid is being poured down me. I eat almost all pure foods. I just figure that I will give it to my 1 year mark & try weaning again. Maybe it just takes time to heal everything?
  9. Microwaves & refrigerator's in the work place are beyond disgusting!
  10. I will eat in the home of only 2 friends. One is a former director of nursing & totally understands. The other is a chef who checks out everything with me, wears disposable gloves & (I've watched & helped her) is extremely careful about cc. After spending a week being sick I will not eat at anyone elses home. If I offend & you don't invite...
  11. It can be part of the healing process too. I am 10 months and still can't eat yogurt. Can tolerate a tablespoon or two of milk on some gluten-free oatmeal or a small amount of cheese in a casserole but no yogurt. weird.
  12. I agree with running crazy. Rudi's for toasted sandwich and Udi for fresh! YUM Life is good.
  13. There is a definite advantage to not having an "official" celiac diagnosis in your medical files as mushroom said. Any insurance that you apply for - medical, life, long term care - will look at pre-existing. Doesn't matter how many tests etc you've had run it's that official diagnosis they look at. That's why I haven't pushed for anything official to be...
  14. After that list - gulp - I feel like just wearing a mask when I leave the house!
  15. Wat too much wheaty gluten flying around. I wouldn't trust it on a bet!

    ARCHIVED Med Help

Our local Walgreens (so california) was not very helpful but while on vacation found that one in Oregon was extremely helpful. Think that it depends on the pharmacist.
  17. Just me. I believe my mom had it as she had all of the symptoms diarrhea/constipation bloating tummy pain fibromyalgia diabetes what we now believe was dermatitis herpetiformis IBS easy bruising canker sores restless leg Untreated, her body failed when she was only 77. My sorrow is now that I wasn't diagnosed sooner that maybe it might have...
  18. It is somewhat inexpensive if you stick with whole foods. It's all the darn supplements that I have to take that end up costing a fortune!
  19. Does anyone worry about CC when taking the wine?
  20. I have tried going off my anti-depressants but it didn't work and now I am back on them full strength. grrr.
  21. My SIL is the same way. When she visits us she brings me gluten-free goodies but will then ask if I can eat one of her cookies. About the only G food in our home is cereal for my son so she brings her own gluten foods to share (I am the only gluten-free one in the home) & sets them on the counters that I have said are gluten-free only. At first I really...
  22. Thank you AzizaRivers for this question and all of the responses as I have wondered this myself. I am 10 months into this and while some things are 100% better some are not and the C is definitely worse. I'll just keep looking forward!
  23. Our home is gluten-free, except for the their cereal, and I have to cook on a budget. I agree with all of the suggestions especially cooking with whole fresh or frozen foods. We don't eat red meat so I use a lot of chicken, ground turkey & fish. About the only specialty item I get is a loaf of bread for me and I fix pasta for the family once a month....
  24. I would much rather have Rudi's. Plus it has less calories & fat.
  25. I had a pity party last month. Even had party favors.... and still no one came!!! Lol
