  1. That is really scary! Guess that drives home a point - we need to be clear that we are celiac and must avoid cross-contamination! Those on gluten-free as a fad sure don't have to worry about the CC !!
  2. I agree! It they don't have a gluten-free menu and/or I don't feel 100% comfortable i won't eat there. Too much to worry about. At 1 year gluten-free I just feel like I don't have the time or energy to have a reaction and feel bad any more.
  3. can you get a place with a small kitchenette/micro? There are so many local farmers fairs in Hawaii where you can eat your heart out on local fruit & veggies. Try some star fruit - looks weird but tastes wonderful.
  4. You are probably extra tired because 1) you are healing and 2) require more sleep when you are healing.
  5. my dietitian gave me sheets she had run off from the internet. Not at all what I was looking for!
  6. I noticed that you wrote Milk of Magnesium in caps. Is that different from Milk of Magnesia? Sorry for the dumb question.

I am SO glad I read this. I take zolpiderm & have for several years however have 2 full bottles of Ambien. Guess I'll be trashing those!
  9. Thanks - at this point I'll try anything. If I could drink warm prune juice (blaah!)then you know I'll try anything!
  10. goofed on the last post... Ravenwood - No soy in the diet. you are the one (thank you!!!) who told me that Burt's Bees has soy and that is what was probably what was making my lips break out. (it was!) I cut out all soy as figured if it made my lips bad it could be hurting something else. As for the regular thing - well, we're talking up to 3 or...
  11. Marilyn ~ ahh, I tried that for 2 weeks and not a single change. Blah! That stuff is nasty! I thought cold prune juice was bad... but warm??? Blaaah!! Angie ~ congrats to you too!
  12. yeahth for the desserth firstist

    ARCHIVED Eggs

If you are ordering scrambled eggs then they could be adding a filler that has gluten to make the eggs fluffier.
  17. Tigercat ~ what is with the no cold thing? Everyone around me has been knocked over with colds & I haven't had one in over a year! I say hoo-ray for gluten-free. lol Now, if i could soluve the big C issue I would be a totally happy little camper.
  18. Toss your cracked mugs. Ceramic (or pottery) will absorb through the crack. It is a vary porous material. You may notice the cracks look darker than the rest of the mug? That's because the liquid have seeped into the cracks. Put a plant in the mug. Don't use them!!
  19. I use the cram of mushroom in recipes with no problems. yummy!
  20. I did not believe those who told me that within a year I would be managing this disease with some sort of ease. It does get easier. It does get better. And month by month I feel better. There are times for sure when it is a few steps back but over all - gluten free is good!
  21. Thou art so right!!!!!!
  22. I believe that I too had a trigger, or combined triggers. Stress at work (Social Services), then I retired and in order to get the family healthy I went whole wheat on everything i could. Talk about an over dose of gluten! I've had symptoms on and off all of my life but it was right after the stress & wheat over dose that I became very sick.
  23. Today is one year since being diagnosed Celiac and it's all finally starting to fall into place and become more comfortable. And... this has been an entire week of feeling good - no bad days this week. Yeah.
