  1. I would get a new one.
  2. I have a couple of pots that I use for gluten free stuff only and as I cook only gluten-free meals it works fine. There are some pots that my son may use for anything gluten but I pretty much keep then separate. The only time I use the "gluten" pots is at holiday when I scrub them withing an inch of their life! They are stainless so are ok. I threw out...
  3. I felt like that the first 5 months & then they finally checked my iron. I now take liquid iron rather than the pills as it absorbed into the system better. You may want to have some blood tests run.
  4. Thanks for the info. I was glutened at a party last night after being gluten-free for 9 months. They had El Pollo Loco chicken which I have eaten in the past but someone packing the order must have touched something somewhere. I was first in the line to fill my plate but..... I was so sick last night & most of today. It almost isn't worth it to eat...
  5. I am avoiding as I have read several articles on how bad it really is for you as we have genetically mutated soybeans to the point where they are no longer good for you.
  6. I would just say thanks. Some people are just oblivious to the obvious!
  7. Hope you feel better. I did the same thing. Threw a package of soup into the cart that I had purchased before & knew as "safe". They changed the ingredients on me. It's hard to always remember.
  8. What a kind thing! Hang on to that special friend. My dear friend is a chef and has been hanging on my every word as to how and what I can eat. She said that she has to learn too!!
  9. My first "motel" trip was in March and was a learning experience. Some of the time we were in some small towns were options were limited. I usually tucked a Udi sandwich in my purse & had just a plain ("plain, nothing on it.... Please make my food as boring as you can") salad. I sort of go on my "gut" feeling. If the place feels gluteny, like they...
  10. CONGRATS on quitting smoking. One of the hardest things to do. Add it to going gluten-free. hats off to you!!!
  11. I have had to change from generic to brand name on a couple of my meds. One generic I discovered was manufactured in India & ingredients were questionable. That's a little to iffy to take a chance on.
  12. that's an interesting thought Marz. Several years ago I went through a period of time where I had leg twitches, thought it was restless leg syndrome but added mg & potassium & it went away. Eventually dropped the supps and had no more trouble, however, I think that I will mosey over to the health food store & check out some mg with the amino...
  13. wine has never been an issue - thank goodness! And I'm glad to hear it comfirmed as gluten-free. Whew! I am going to look at the fats as I don't use a lot of fats. I need to learn what & how to use properly. I have never been much of a cook so along with Celiac comes learning to cook! Thank you all so much for the encouragement.
  14. soy is being cut as of now. I am trying to get a referral to see the GI at the Celiac Foundation in San Diego. My dr approved it now if only my insurance will.
  15. How about when they say "oh, you can't eat it? Well, too bad. I can" and then stuff it in their face. grrrrr!!
  16. do we really want to talk about it? lol I've never discussed so many bodily functions before going gluten-free!!
  17. gulp! I am ready for that step. Also have a dr appt on thursday. Here's hoping something breaks loose. No pun intended!

    ARCHIVED New Symptom!

mouth ulcers were a big deal with me before going gluten-free. I would get 8 or 9 at a time. I still get them once in awhile but since going gluten-free they never ulcerate to the point of total pain. Good luck with your little bun.
  19. CassP - I'm so sorry about your struggle and how you find a resolution soon. Getting help can be so frustrating. Seems like it is always another wait for this and wait for that. We hurt. We need some help now - not 3 months from now! So sorry!
  20. I eat little to no dairy but will take a look at the corn & soy. Thank you!
  21. my pleasure. Lol !!! I think that this is a topic that concerns all celiacs to some degree but not necessarily one that is easy to bring up. But desperation does force us I guess and it's good to feel so safe to talk on this board.
  22. Thanks for your replies. I do feel like just curling up and crying like a baby at times. I drink a lot of water, 5 or 6 bottles a day as am always very thirsty. Water is about all I drink other than a glass of wine here and there. Food wise - not much what I would call "junk". Veggies, fruit, chicken mostly. We do very little processed stuff any...
  23. Here I thought I had the perfect "recipe" for my chronic constipation. It worked for about 2 months and then just quit. Right now I think I would eat some gluten just to get D - anything but this C. I have been living on 3 Ducolax, every night for 2 weeks. The dr gave me Lactulose on Friday but that isn't working. After 6 days of little to no poop I got...
  24. Don't know about your state (if you are going for state disability) but social security disability is usually turned down the first time or more. I worked in social services and will say that you have to keep appealing and fighting. I have seen it take a couple of years but if you are approved the payment is retroactive back to the day of your application...
  25. my therapist gave me 100% permission to be as OCD about celiac as I need to be - I just can't be so OCD about housework. lol Sometimes I get a little tired of being quite so compulsive about the diet but I know that if I relax just a little it would be too easy to get sloppy - and then I'll be sorry! I really believe that my Mom was celiac. She had all...
