    ARCHIVED Miserable

I am miserable these days. I haven't felt good in six months, since I started the gluten-free diet. Most of you say you got better on this diet; I have gotten worse. My anxiety, my stress, constant nausea and shakiness, restlessness, etc. The doctors cannot find out what is wrong with me. Today they said my blood pressure is 82/60 and that is normal. My...
  2. Oh boy can I relate to the nausea. If you looked at all of the posts on this board you would see I've written several on this same topic. My doctor said a lot of nausea is a more uncommon symptom of reflux and did an endoscopy and saw I had mild gastritis. Couldn't find anything else wrong. He put me on Nexium and I actually feel like a human being again...
  3. I BBQ on foil with Sweet Baby Ray's and believe me, it doesn't lose the BBQ taste. My hubby is SUPER picky about his BBQ food and he loves it, although skeptical at first. The meat even still has the lines of the grill on it when you use foil. I've had BBQ all my life pre Celiac and I have noticed NO difference in taste at all by using foil. Neither...
  4. I've been gluten-free for 6 months. My dr. thinks I'm lactose intolerant. He says this b/c he says that IBS and lactose intolerant are almost always seen together, and I have IBS. I've already cut down on dairy but now I'll probably go even less or none.
  5. I absolutely refuse to go to the movies more than 3 times a year. Our theaters charge between %8.25 and $9 a ticket and that is ludicrous. I wait for rental unless I can't stand it! Plus I always end up next to some sick coughing person, cell phones ring, disgusting chewing and slurping noises everywhere....no thanks. I'll take my lazyboy rocker, surround...
  6. Hi Matilda, I don't know what to think at this point. My dr. thinks I do not have celiac disease because of my bloodwork and endo. I never had an endoscopy before this one. If I had had a positive endoscopy earlier, of course I would believe I have celiac disease! I would not have even bothered with further testing. My other GI dr. also did not believe...
  7. Just put your food on foil. Our propane grill has had all kinds of gluten containing marinade on it. I put my meat on foil and it works just fine; I've never been sick. When I go to BBQ's I ask them to cook my meat on foil and make sure their other utensils don't touch it. if it's a close friend or family member I'm OK with it; if not I supervise or do...
  8. Yes, I do sometimes cancel trips because I don't feel well, not specifically b/c of bringing food, but just b/c I don't feel good. If you haven't been feeling well and you have to share a cabin with 7 people you may be miserable there. I know I would, but this is just me. I also want to be alone with my bathroom when I don't feel good..it's embarrassing...
  9. My blood test results were: Antigliadin ABs IgA 8 Antigliadin Abs IgG 47 Transglutaminase IgA 4 Dr. told me just from looking at this before endoscopy he did not think I had celiac disease. He said the most important test, the one they really look at is the bottom one, the Transglutaminase. He said it used to be they looked at all of them...
  10. OK, I will try it then! I'm sure I'll get used to the taste-I've gotten used to everything else!
  11. I know you said you don't have insurance but you said you went to the ER...can you get a prescription of Zofran or Phenegran for him? I know it's only a band-aid but Zofran WILL stop the vomiting. At least he might be able to keep food down until you find out what's wrong with him.... Zofran is very expensive...so maybe Phenegran? The generic is only about...
  12. I wrote a new post today as well that didn't get pinned. It was under gluten free products about sour cream and cream cheese and it's missing in action...
  13. Well, my diagnosis is no Celiac Sprue from my endocscopy. My results are in. No Celiac, and no h.pylori, thank god! He did say that because I've been gluten-free it could effect results, BUT he said he saw none of the typical signs of sprue. I asked him what those were and he said there were certain "histological" signs, whatever that is, and he said...
  14. Thanks Michelle! I wasn't really upset or anything; I was just like, whoa I hope I'm not ticking people off:) I have an appt. with my doc on Monday and I'm going to discuss several meds, effexor, lexapro, klonopin or however it's spelled, etc. I will find something! Thanks for the great responses:) Jenn
  15. Hey all, I was just wondering: my doc says I 'm lactose intolerant and I have to admit I do feel better when there's no dairy. But where do I get non dairy sour cream or cream cheese? I've seen Tofutti but I believe they're not guaranteed gluten free..I read that here somewhere. Please tell me there's hope: I can't live without sour cream and cream cheese...
  16. Jen - pay attention Ouch-I wasn't trying to not pay attention. There were several long posts and by the time I got through them all I simply didn't remember this was written. Cut me some slack!
  17. Speaking of food/beverages on airplanes, a friend of mine contracted h. pylori from ice on either United or some other airline that flies within the country. Another friend who has a friend that works for another airline confirms how dirty the water is on a plane (apparently it is not regulated by the government). He told me not to bother washing my hands...
  18. Wow, I LOVE all of these great responses. yes, Michelle we are a LOT alike..how funny. I think I will try the Effexor and see how it works..when you stopped taking it, did you just stop or were you weaned off? Lovegrov, I am SO sorry to hear about your daughter! What happened, if you don't mind my asking? You must be devastated. I am so sorry. I am not...
  19. Why were you gluten-free in the first place? Were your first tests positive? What kind of symptoms do you have?
  20. Hi guys, My dr. wants to put me on anxiety meds for generalized anxiety disorder. He says he likes Effexor best b/c it's not as altering or however you describe it, as some of the other meds. Has anyone here taken Effexor and if so, did it have a postive effect? What other meds do you take? I have Xanax but my dr. says that is a "quick fix" and doesn...
  21. Since I began taking Nexium early this week my nausea has subsided substantially. I am also a little less shaky. I still feel odd sometimes...like something is not right, but I don't know what it is. Maybe anxiety. My thyroid and blood work came back normal..so it's not that!
  22. That sounds more like colitis to me than a symptom of celiac disease. I think some people here have probably experienced this b/c a lot of us have other GI disorder, but I don't think this is a symptom of celiac disease.
  23. This cake is labeled gluten-free? I have a whole foods near me in Tempe, AZ. I will go there and see if they have any gluten-free cake...I had not noticed it before.
  24. Velveeta is gluten free? The cheese AND the cheese sauce that comes with the pasta? Or just one or the other? What about the annatto? I was under the impression we couldn't have that..I haven't had cheddar cheese in months because of this.... someone tell me the story so I can eat some cheese!!!
  25. Better yet, I use the DeBoles gluten-free instant Mac N Cheese. It is just like Kraft, but the cheese is white. Take it from someone who mac n cheese is their FAVORITE food..it is really good and it is exactly like Kraft mac n cheese. You just boil the pasta for 8 min, then add the cheese sauce that comes with it, butter and milk. I use soy butter and milk...
