  1. I've heard that Trader Joe's is a problem because of CC. But like I said, I don't get sick if I get glutened so I can only ask others who do get sick what their experiences are with "no gluten ingredients" products.
  2. psawyer, that's interesting that you brought up the single versus multi ingredient product. I notice the only ones that say "natually gluten free food" are single ingredient products like canned corn, butter, beans, etc. All the multi ingredient products say "gluten free" instead. So is Aldis being misleading when their single ingredient products have this...
  3. Ok, I have another question about labeling issues. There are products out there that have no gluten ingredients and are not labeled gluten free. In allergen information, it mentions that it was manufactured with other products containing nuts, corn, etc. But gluten/wheat is not mentioned. Does that mean that the product is safe? I mean, if the company offers...
  4. I was grocery shopping at Aldis the other day and noticed that some of the gluten-free products say "naturally gluten free food." Does it mean about the same thing as the "no gluten ingredients" labels? Or is it just another way of saying the product is gluten-free? They don't mention anything about whether the facility it's manufactured in shares any other...
  5. I hate all the games these companies play when they use their labels. It seems misleading and unfair. So I echo your frustration.
  6. I have noticed more food products (particularly Trader Joes) claim "no gluten ingredients" instead of "gluten free" on their labels. I assume this is a big red flag? I seem to be very sensitive to gluten (although I don't get any symptoms that I know of if I'm glutened). I've read a few articles saying that you should approach these products with caution...
  7. I thought I would start talking about the subject of emetophobia (the deep irrational fear of vomiting or seeing other people vomit). This is something that I suffer from greatly. I see that people constantly talk about nausea and vomiting on these forums, but I see very little written about emetophobia (except for stuff that is several years old). I have...
  8. I'm gonna call them tomorrow and ask them to get off their butts and do it...I need more answers. I mean the news is good initially, but I got a very brief reply from my dietitian and I want to know what that actually found in the report.
  9. well, I'm finally happy to report that I got my endoscopy and it looks like I'm beginning to make improvement. So that is very good news. I do not know any details (I need to get the report sent to me from the University of Chicago) but my dietician called me personally and spoke to me on Wednesday (this being a holiday weekend has delayed me getting the...
  10. yeah, being non-symptomatic is great but it can really be a great challenge for me, too. The only way I can tell if I've been eating too much gluten is if I start suddenly losing a lot of weight and/or start feeling extremely tired (normally I'm tired all the time, but I mean extreme fatigue). I've had some major problems with anxiety and brain fog, but I...
  11. it really makes me wonder when they say "no gluten ingredients" versus "gluten free." I don't get sick if I get glutened, but I am very sensitive to it, nonetheless. The "no gluten ingredients" label basically makes it easier for the company to avoid a lawsuit.
  12. I hate it when they use this vague terminology. They basically do it just to cover their butts from a lawsuit.
  13. I've noticed this "no gluten ingredients" thing and it is VERY annoying! Nevertheless, I can understand why companies use this phrase...it makes them much less liable for a lawsuit. But if something doesn't have the status of gluten free, yet has 2 very obvious non-gluten ingredients (cherries, sugar) and they don't list gluten under allergen information...
  14. I went to Aldis today and saw that some of their brands such as Baker's Corner and Chef's Harvest have some gluten free products. They are labeled gluten free but it doesn't say whether the facilities that they were made in were gluten free. Do you know if there are issues with cross contamination with certain products? The other thing is that there are things...
  15. I have had serious issues with these since I was 13 years old. In the late 1990s, I went for several months with horrible infections that kept coming back despite medical treatment. Fortunately, I haven't had another one in awhile. But it does appear that my Celiac disease is still active. I might have to start taking steroids if the inflammation doesn't...
  16. I am getting very wary of TJ's too. I do not get sick if I get glutened but I still have damaged intestines, even after 1 1/2 years on a strict gluten-free diet. It makes me nervous to read about many of their products being shared on same lines and also the products seem really inconsistently labeled. Why do some say they are gluten-free and shared on the...
  17. Finland is a great country to visit if you have celiac disease. It's not "gluten free" but about 30% of the population has celiac disease and they have some of the most advance research in the world when it comes to the gluten free diet. I found it dozens of times easier to eat out in Finland than the United States. just about every menu has a whole gluten...
  18. beebs, you are right about that. I know a doctor and he said that he was only lectured about celiac disease one in his entire doctoral degree and that was for less than 30 minutes. Pathetic.
  19. It sounds like this doctor also really has a problem with women. What a loser!
  20. Unfortunately there are a lot of useless GIs when it comes to Celiac Disease. They know nothing about it, or if they do, it's very limited information and often times, misinformation. I saw a couple here in my town and they said things that were so ridicilous and ignorant that it just blew my mind. It is very frustrating because you would think as GIs that...
  21. He sounds like a real second rate doc who has no idea what he's talking about. Unfortunately, there are lots of GIs who don't know crap about celiac disease. I saw 2 of them in my town. One said that I had "mild" Celiac Disease and that I "might" benefit from the gluten free diet (since then, I found out I have a severe case). She also said there was no difference...
  22. how are you holding up? Hope you are ok.
  23. hi; I was wondering if anyone knew if these 2 Walgreens nut brands were gluten-free and if they were made in a gluten-free facility. I tried to google this info, but got no where. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  24. my questions were not answered by that site. It didn't say anything about whether their products were gluten-free (with the exception of the gluten-free veggie sticks). I contacted them a few days ago but never heard back. I'm not trying to be a pain here. I'm just trying to get some help!
