  1. On another subject, is it possible that I could be getting glutened from my dish soap? I use Meijer's brand (green apple scent) and am unsure as to whether it has gluten in it or not. Or should I worry about this at all?
  2. I also have been suffering from a lot of lower back pain, especially in the last couple of months. I've been on the gluten-free diet for over a year, but I got tested recently and my antibodies are still very high and I have a lot of inflamation of my intestines. I've been as strict as I can about the diet, yet I still just feel tired all the time. Additionally...
  3. When I mentioned yeast infections, I meant the female kind. I've had them on and off since I was 13. Real drag. Since going on the gluten-free diet, I haven't had one. Yet. Hoping those will be a thing of the past. I have no idea whether I have candida in my gut or not. Like I said, I don't have any stomach or gi issues. the only exception is acid reflux...
  4. good questions, Cara. I wonder about all of those exact questions myself. I've pretty much given up on eating Trader Joes or Whole Foods brand nuts because of CC. But I wish their labeling (esp. in the case of Trader Joes) was much more consistent.
  5. I have gotten checked for thyroid problems many times, but am not sure which tests. I have also gotten checked for various vitamins and minerals awhile back. It turned out that I was very low in Vitamin A and Zinc. I took those for awhile and got retested. The tests showed that I had gotten back to normal levels and my doc told me to stop taking those....
  6. I'm so very sorry to hear this. As a fellow Celiac sufferer who hasn't gotten well in over 1 year since I was diagnosed, I can understand your pain and frustration. Fortunately, I don't have the GI issues that you do. But I have been so tired and having lots of other symptoms. I've tried everything to cut gluten out of my diet, yet my antibodies are as high...
  7. I know that this thread hasn't been brought up in years...but I have the same question. For instance, I avoid Blue Diamond brand because they say they were manufactured in the same facility as wheat. I mainly shop at Meijers and don't trust their brand, either. Unfortunately, those are the only 2 brands of nuts there. I haven't found it to be much easier...
  8. thanks for all of your suggestions. Can you tell me what a "full nutrient panel" is? I was checked for a whole bunch of food allergies from an alternative clinic. And it showed that I had lots of food allergies. However, the lab that processes those results has an "F" rating on the internet by many professionals. Also, that clinic was very questionable. They...
  9. why are nuts so hard to find? Trader Joes has the same problem. All of their nuts are processed in facilities with gluten. Thank god for Planters but they don't have a large variety of nuts
  10. I have found it really hard to find gluten-free poppy seeds. I search for them via Google but get few results. The ones I do get I'm really not sure if they are gluten-free. Some say they are but they could still be sharing equipment or space with glutenous foods. The same goes for sesame seeds. I believe McCormick is ok but they have such absurdly small...
  11. Thanks for all of your support. I am just feeling so frustrated right now...I've been checking every medication that I'm taking to see if it's gluten free. So far, all of them are except for 2 which the pharmacist has been trying to find out now for the last few weeks (some of these companies are so bloody uncooperative). I take Citrical Calcium Citrate which...
  12. I wonder why the one list said it had gluten. Perhaps a mistake? Regardless, I think I will avoid this brand in the future.
  13. thanks so much, everyone, for your support and suggestions. I will be back again soon.
  14. thanks, everyone, for the clarification. I really appreciate it!
  15. I am taking Gabapentin (the generic brand of Neurontin) and just had a pharmacist check to see if there was gluten in this medication. She called back saying that there was "cornstarch gluten" in it. I asked her what that was and she said she had never heard that phrase before. Needless to say, she doesn't know whether it's a problem for me to take or not...
  16. I just recently got retested and found out that my antibodies are still very elevated. So I've been looking closer into the foods I'm eating. Does anyone know if Meijer brand ricotta cheese has gluten in it or not? The info from the Meijer website is very conflicting. According to the gluten free list, this food does not have any gluten. But according...
  17. Unlike you all, I do not know when I'm glutened. I seem to have no distinct symptoms that I can trace. I have atypical celiac disease, the kind without the typical GI symptoms, but rather other types of problems. I think it must be a really delayed reaction. And I have no idea how delayed. I just get worse gradually, sometimes over a period of months. My...
  18. Last May, I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. Since then, I've been on a strict gluten-free diet. I have seen many doctors, about 5 of who confirm that I definitely have celiac disease. The problem is, I just got my antibodies retested last month and I'm still very elevated and sick. Now I have atypical celiac disease, the kind without GI symptoms (except...
  19. I just came across this website, too. It does seem really annoying that you have to pay a $5 fee per month to get any results. I see that this thread hasn't been opened recently at all. What are some other people's impressions of this site? Is it really worth paying $5 a month for?
  20. Recent results from the University of Chicago Celiac Center (unfortunately, not good):

TgG IgA 44 (20 or less is normal)

glaiden gluten protein 79 (20 or less is normal)

they just told me to go on a stricter diet...

  21. I started taking a Vitamin A pill today but the only ones I could find also had Vitamin D added. I wonder why I can't just find plain Vitamin A pills? I suppose extra Vitamin D wouldn't be too bad (I'm already ok on that vitamin), but I'm not sure if it could cause problems. Sometimes too much of any vitamin can be a problem.
  22. I can't stand liver or other organ meats, unfortunately. I'm not even that wild about meat. But I'll eat more if necessary.
  23. I've been VERY careful about what I'm eating, but probably not careful enough. I have been eating some processed foods (although they say they are gluten free) and eating out at restaurants sometimes. I just don't know what it could be. It's driving me crazy. Hope to have some answers this week...
  24. I saw Dr.Semrad recently and was quite impressed with her, although I had SO many questions for her that she barely had time to give me a whole lot of advice (I live 2 hours south of Chicago). I also liked her nurse, who was very no nonsense. However, my IgA levels are still quite high, despite going gluten-free for the last 6 months. I also found out that...
  25. I'm rather skeptical of IgG testing, but I have too many conflicting results from 2 different clinics: an alternative medicine clinic did these tests and said that I tested positive for wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy and 25 other foods. But they won't give me anymore info over the phone and seem reluctant in giving me my test results. I also went to the Univ...
