  1. Chanterelle and Hen of the Woods Ragout with Sherry Glaze on Creamy Parmesan Polenta Steamed Green Beans (probably the last of the year from the garden )
  2. Definitely cut into strips then fry or bake if you want strips. If you fry or bake first, you can just break them into pieces as they will be brittle. I make chips like this all the time and use with hummus, salsa, chutneys, in salads for crunch, Green Goddess dip, roasted red pepper and walnut dip...endless options. Darned addictive, aren't they?
  3. Roast Sweet Potato Fries with Cuban Seasoning Blend Roast Potatoes with Southwestern Seasoning Blend Frozen grapes
  4. Greens with Fresh Cherries, Prosciutto and Light Creamy Dijon Vinaigrette
  5. This is great. Who does not crave good old diner food occasionally? I had heard about High Level Diner but have not yet been there. We will definitely be there on our next trip. Thanks lots!
  6. I have 3 herniated discs in my lower back, disc degeration, myofascial pain syndrome, IT band syndrome and fibromyalgia. So, I understand pain. I did get several rounds of injections but they did nothing for my pain whatsoever. But that is partially because there are so many trigger and tender points on my body and I had to pick and choose the worst...
  7. Halibut en papillotte with white wine, lemon juice, capers, oven-roasted tomatoes, baby potatoes and tiny green beans.
  8. I bake a LOT and use blends. One of my favourites includes sorghum, millet and tapioca. I also use chestnut, almond, coconut, amaranth, teff, garfava, lentil, corn, quinoa and many other starches. They all have different properties, such as rising, colour, texture, chew and so on. I would not use only oat flour to replace wheat flour. I often replace...
  9. Baguette with olive oil from Croatia, fleur de sel, prosciutto, fresh sheep cheese, fresh figs, chestnut honey from Croatia and toasted walnuts. A perfect and wonderful lunch.
  10. I buy mine at my regular grocery stores. And I've been using it for years - a lot for baking but even more so for food en papillotte, as I am doing tonight with fresh halibut. Each person gets their own package that puffs up in the oven (I am using white wine, lemon juice, capers, oven-roasted tomtaoes and thin green beans along with the halibut). You...
  11. I am a little different because I do not ever want food NOT to matter. It is one of my obsessions and I could not survive without cooking glorious meals all the time. When I go to events and take along my own food, it is always naturally gluten free anyway and better than those who have gluten-y food. You can make relatively healthy fabulous desserts that...
  12. Roasted Venison Tenderloin (medium rare, of course!) with Cherry Gastrique Smoked Apple Cheddar Polenta Cakes Succotash
  13. I make lots of bread and this recipe looks pretty good, actually. There is not an unusual amount of tapioca flour in it but I would personally swap a bit for maybe a bit more millet or some amaranth. You could even use a bit of corn flour. Do you have the lovely French pans? They make a big difference.
  14. I am going to make Eggs Benedict. Rather than an English muffin, I am using a bagel this time. And probably a little cucumber salad on the side.
  15. The baguettes ARE good. I can even get them at the DM in Croatia! We don't have any Schar products whatsoever where I live in Canada so when we go to Europe I try out as many as I can. Just another six itty bitty weeks!
  16. Do you like baking? Some of us make our own bread. If you don't, try Kinnickinnik if you can find it. Their new soft bread is as large as regular bread (not Barbie sized) and it seriously does stay soft and does not need to be toasted. Before that my favourite commercial brand was Glutino Genius. And before that it was Udi's.
  17. Finnish Meatballs with Fresh Nutmeg and Sour Cream (with black plum chutney I am making today) Dilled Baby Garden Potatoes Roasted Swiss Chard Double Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Buttercream
  18. Isn't that ridiculous? It's like half the loaf is missing. But Kinnickinnik bread is as large as regular bread and never any holes - it looks just like its gluten counterpart. And it is the cheapest here by far at $4.99 CND per loaf. We cannot get Rudi's here but it sounds good. Today's lunch was: Sole with Mirin Glaze and Toasted Sesame...
  19. AWESOME! Good for you. I am so happy that you can have some bread. And if you ever find it, try Kinnickinnik's new soft bread. It truly is soft and you do not have to toast it. It does not crumble and fall apart, either. I like Udi's but I really like this new stuff. It passes the spread-the-peanut-butter-and-honey test.
  20. Sole Meuniere Herbed New Potatoes Nectarine
  21. Spicy Chung King Pork (Sichuan) Bay-Infused Jasmine Rice Stir-fried Green Beans
  22. Would he notice my asking him for a cheek swab for his DNA?
  23. Unsure whether I would like Hunger Games. Is it Sci Fi-ish? Harry Potter-ish? Abhor those so am wondering about HG. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try and see!
  24. My physical is in two weeks (shudder) - I'll try then and see if he notices he is being cloned.
  25. Except for my doctor. He is wonderful! Thorough, empathetic, knowledgable, understanding and he does not make me feel rushed at all. He loves it that I bring a list of questions to ask. All this plus he is HOT! Wow. And the good thing is he has no idea!
