  1. Temptress. That is so funny! It almost sounds alluring and mysterious and seductive. (I cannot find a smiley to adequately describe that.) The drooling is fine as long as you are alone. If someone else is in the room or if you are in a public place such as a library it may be a different story. That is the closest to drooling. Just mentally...
  2. Sooooooo...right now it is -36F AND windy so it is rather unpleasant. The windchill is a lovely -51F! I am not even going to walk four houses down to get our mail because in these temps flesh can freeze in 90 seconds. Enjoy snuggling with your whackadoodle cat indoors today! I am making yummy cinnamon buns for our celiac meeting tonight. I am excited...
  3. Yeah, Syl, come on - I DARE ya! A little wind and cold won't hurt ya!
  4. Man, talk about poor customer service! There was absolutely no reason for that hygienist to act so deplorably. As everyone has already said, I would also look elsewhere. You need a dentist with whom you and family feel safe and assured. There is no reason to settle for second or third best. I am so fortunate because after I talked to my dentist he...
  5. Yes - and I was trying to be funny back but today's fog got in the way!
  6. Oh, right. Sorry - I completely forgot. Do you perchance have coconut milk powder in a health food store or anything? That would work well. I'm also trying to figure out eliminating the milk powder completely - will let you know if I have any success. ETA: How about soy milk powder or rice milk powder? This will give you some ideas... Open Original...
  7. I am fascinated by creatures and have almost a scientific view of them so am not afraid of them. EXCEPT in our house in Croatia (it is very old and stone exterior and interior) sometimes has scorpions crawling on the walls and floors. Now those things are crunchy and take more than one whack to kill them. My husband is in charge of that. Thankfully they...
  8. Like Rosetapper I have flown on several overseas long-haul flights with many layovers and delays. So, I take Kind bars, pepperoni sticks, homemade crackers, a bag of Skittles and falafel chips with little sample-sized Nutella and peanut butter. Oh, and Chex mix (with peanuts, etc.). Air Canada does serve gluten free meals on long-haul flights but they...
  9. Awesome! To say that it is the best pizza your wife has had is the best compliment you can get. I just love it when people taste gluten-free baking or whatever and say they cannot tell it is gluten free. That is precisely the goal!!
  10. How 'bout this? Italian Breadsticks (T = tablespoon; t = teaspoon) 2 T active dry yeast 1 T granulated sugar 1 c warm water 2 c brown rice flour 2 c tapioca flour 1/2 c defatted soy flour 3/4 c nonfat dry milk powder 1 T xanthan gum 1 T garlic powder 1 t salt 4 T olive oil 4 large egg whites 1/2 c hot water Olive oil for rolling out...
  11. I'm sorry about all your restrictions. Soy flour is very high in protein - that is why it is so good in things such as pizza when you want some elasticity. So far I have not found a substitute but will continue trying! No problem with floating the CIA cookbook to you but will have to wait for spring thaw as it is so darned cold here! Hope you...
  12. I could certainly put your coat to use - yours and about 100 more layers might just do it! These temperatures are downright dangerous. Right now the windchill is -50F. Gross!
  13. Oooooh...yummy! Marsala is a perfect fit for cranberries. The sweetness of the Marsala will go so well with the tart berries.
  14. Roast chicken is NOT boring at all. Who could possibly resisit it? Not me!
  15. I'm so glad you tried the hasselback potatoes! They are different and look beautiful, too. And just think of all the flavour combinations possible! Yum.
  16. They use white rice flour, tapioca starch, potato starch and albumen in the focaccia. Their lean bread includes white rice flour, potato starch, guar gum, albumen, defatted soy flour and whey powder. In their multigrain bread they use the same as the lean bread but include a soaker of yellow cornmeal, flaxseed, caraway and sesame seeds. I really like the...
  17. I agree that it certainly is true that the closer you are to the Med the easier it is. We have a house in Istria, Croatia (a traditional old stone renovated house with blue shutters) and have found that we can forage for so much (i.e. all kinds of herbs, juniper berries, nuts, fruit, fennel) and want to get to know the mushrooms, too. And the sea is so...
  18. This is what my dietitian told me - she recommends that I do not try even certified gluten-free oats for two years after going gluten free (which I did nearly 10 months ago).
  19. Brrr...it is a frigid -36F at the moment and the windchill takes it down to -46F. The schools and buses are still running, much to the chagrin of some kids! Tomorrow the windchill is said to be -51F!!! What is it like in your neck of the woods?
  20. Yikes - I realize I didn't answer your question! I get my Lentils de Puy from the Italian Centre in Edmonton. Perhaps try an Italian store in your area.
  21. Good for you! I appreciate that you are still full of hope and passion about things you love. I, too, refuse to allow my pain to prevent me from doing things I love, too, like cooking up a storm every day. Sure, things take longer, but I get it done.
  22. Thai Green Curry Chicken (making my own curry paste) with Lemongrass and Kaffir Lime Leaves Wide Cellophane Rice Noodles Julienned Carrot and Daikon "Pickles" Blood Orange Panna Cotta
  23. They ARE a lot of fun. I used to create all sorts of cool things for kids in my Sunday School class. Each Sunday was something different but this was one of the favourites. (We were discussing Jonah and the Whale.)
  24. Crostini with Blood Orange Marmalade (I made it yesterday) and goat's cheese and lots of black pepper Raw pear
