  1. Okay....I am almost completely positive it was the root beer now. I did some research and some places use brewer's yeast, derived from beer to make root beer. Seeing it was a brewery I wouldn't be surprised if thats what they used. I called them to ask their ingredients but they have yet to return my call.
  2. The Friday lunch was ordered from a place for Work. Ugh. I looked it up, it was marinated broiled chicken...it sure didn't look or taste like it though. ugh. I guess...what I didn't think about though was Saturday the whole meal, root beer was at a Beer Brewery...maybe it was a huge CC issue?
  3. I did get my results back...it was 32. Which isn't all that low, but its 20 points lower than i was in July. So I guess a 20 pt drop might cause problems. My TSH was 1.19 and my Free T4 was 0.8 (I believe? I might not remember that right). So normal.
  4. I was not diagnosed with celiac (negative blood test). But I have vitamin D problems. Last April I had a level of 14! 12 is as low as the testing range went. Though taking over 70,000 Ius for several weeks, then backing down to 35,000 Ius I got my level up to 55 by July (high sun time for me also June through July). I continued taking 35,000 a week...
  5. I am not really sure what even got me. Friday I had a salad, Grilled Chicken Salad with cheese, and ranch dressing....this was ordered for me, this is one of the foods I had the least control over. I don't know the brand of dressing. Saturday I had, a greek salad, with feta, black olives, tomatoes, and Newman's Own Greek Dressing....and 4 homebrewed...
  6. Ditto the other poster, at first like you I tried to cross reference that huge list, but I wound up messing up. Basically it was easiest and safest for me, to just eat everything labeled gluten free...and then of course veggies and meat (chicken can be packaged in chicken broth though so you have to check that). Beware wheat free does NOT equal gluten...
  7. Thanks for the replies! I havent gotten my test results yet, but the nurse did call me and said my Vitamin D is lower than they like to see but thyroid was good and no anemia....so I guess that answers my question . Guess I still have to supplement...I am interested to see my number though, doesn't sound like it's as low as 14. I am happy though...
  8. My undiagnosed DH drove me nuts! I didn't go totally iodine free, but I did things like strictly avoided eggs, and limited dairy. It definitly seemed to help, but it still took me over 5 weeks to get mine to stop having my skin peel off and hurt! I also switched to all gluten free soaps, lotions and shampoos. My 'gluten' reactions in terms...
  9. I only have 'the rash' in one spot, on my hand. It took me over 5 weeks to get my rash to heal after a glutening! It does seem to take a long time to get it to heal, and I also started avoiding eggs after 2 weeks.
  10. Hello! You should get your vitamin levels checked, when I was having severe fatigue problems, I found out I had a vitamin D deficicency (severely deficient). I am struggling once again with fatigue so I went back to my doctor for another vitamin D check and a thyroid check.
  11. I can tell you from my experience...I am 5 months gluten free, I found last month that I am definitly lactose intolerant too. Have you been eating oats? Those cause problems for some people. There are definitly some gluten free things that bother me I have found, like Honey Nut Chex for some reason. My suggestion would be to just eat the same...
  12. Its totally normal to feel like that! I know I did! I still think longingly for gluten sometimes but I no longer feel sad or overwhelmed about it! Good Luck! The other food issues may go away after you are gluten free for awhile!

    ARCHIVED Reaction

I tend to have a skin reaction now. My last one lasted 5 weeks. I so far haven't been glutened since then.
  14. We have the girl scout cookies lingering here too. I miss a lot of donuts, bagels, cookies, cakes...etc. But then everytime I see everyone scrumptiously stuffing their faces, I realize that I don't 'celebrate' with food as much anymore, and that maybe thats healthier, and that I will be healthier in the long run with not eating all those treats. My...
  15. I went to my doctor last week for my exhaustion. She agreed to test my vitamin D again, my thyroid (doing the TSH and Free T4 this time, usually they just do the TSH), and anemia plus I think 2 other things. I looked up my results fro last year, My TSH last time was 1.38, which is normal. I had a Vitamin D result of 14.3...severely deficient the range...
  16. Aw! Thats great! I would have cried at the party! Or left and drove to the nearest grocery store to find something gluten-free! I have started to enjoy taking gluten free food to parties, people's houses. So far I have been surprised, usually at every party there is one person who either is struggling with something they think is celiac and have...
  17. My main symptom now is the rash. Whenever I get it due to glutening, I have to cut out eggs, anything high in iodine can make your rash worse or cause it to linger on. I am pretty successful with just eggs, but you may have to cut out sodium and dairy, the DH board has good advice on this. My last glutening my rash lingered for 5 weeks...and its still...
  18. I use almond milk and I love it! I noticed the same thing BMs when cutting out dairy, I am struggling still and tried out gluten-free oats because if it (I seem to be doing fine with them now)..they have helped immensly with BM!
  19. Some recommend waiting at least 6 months before you eat gluten free oats. I found in the beginning, even gluten free oats were bothering me. I waited until 4 months gluten free to add gluten free oats back in...and I seem to be handeling them fine now!
  20. I don't think I am very sensitive. The low gluten host has not bothered me, but I just started taking communion again because I was afraid. I did have a 'regular' host on Ash Wednesday and I was super nervous about that. I went to a different church and they don't offer them. I am still having slight skin problems anyways though nothing bad like...
  21. I think you are right. I went to the grocery store last night and tried buying a few different things. Maybe I just need a change of pace food wise.
  22. Milk bothers me for certain, if I drink raw milk I spend the rest of the day gassy, bloated and feeling awful. I took it out for 3 weeks and then tested it last weekend. I am still eating like 1/2 cup greek yogurt per day and I am eating cheese, but I use it sparingly. I am having 1 cup of almond milk per day...and still use cow milk sometimes...
  23. This is me! I am 4 months gluten free, I am still 25-30lbs overweight. I am eating healthy, started running again, only running about 3 miles a week, with an increase plan in a couple of weeks I should be running 5 miles a week. The weight just isn't budging! It went up 4lbs since going gluten free and now is just staying still. I recently removed...
  24. I am at almost 4 months gluten free. I am not diagnosed with celiac, my blood test was negative, I decided not to go through with the scope, because I would have had to kept a food journal for 3 months to convince my doctor, I was just too fed up at that point so I went gluten free. My mom has both celiac genes but test negative herself via blood test...
  25. What did they do for your vitamin D deficiency? Did you get your level to rise? I was diagnosed with a severe deficiency in Vitamin D, last april prior to going gluten free. I was put on a heavy dose of supplements until my level raised, 3 months later. Anyways, many of your symptoms the extreme fatique, insomnia, nausea, the low blood pressure upon...
