  1. I don't know...I am guessing just gluten-free. I am at about 9 weeks gluten free. Maybe being gluten-free has helped me raise my vitamin D levels further. I know up until going gluten free I was still having crushing fatigue problems (my low vit D symptom)...which have slowly resolved. Previously last April I was diagnosed with severe Vit D defiecency...
  2. It dawned on me today I am no longer losing CHUNKS of hair everyday like I have for the past 10 years! I also shedded hair like crazy, where my friends always noted how much hair I had on my clothes! Where I used to pull lose hairs after combing I would get like a 1/2" chunk now I am less than 1/16"!! Its a huge difference, I may notice a stray...
  3. I was waiting for my hand to heal from my last glutening and so I stopped eating eggs, thinking reducing my iodine intake might help! Well my hand is healed...so I added back in eggs yesterday morning. I also switched back to my other shampoo since my scalp seems less burny feeling also. Thinking maybe my skin had calmed down. Well now I have broken...
  4. ditto Skylark. Before going gluten free, I had seemingly random stomach pain, I would get it more often after eating out (generally more fatty meals), but I would get it randomly at home too. I am at more than 2 months now gluten and stomach pain free.
  5. My son vomitted last night...he is 4...and I have been transitioning them to gluten free, this week he was gluten free, except they had pizza last night for dinner. At this point I am suspecting gluten or else flu.
  6. I don't know about the testing. Your daughter has celiac. She has to inherit from her mother or father...or both. That means you probably DO have celiac, especially if your doctor thinks you do. At 110lbs...your BMI is below healthy. If you do happen to gain weight it would be because your body would be absorbing MORE nutrients, which would NOT...
  7. I didn't consider that. You are right, that is the only time during the day also that I was eating chex.
  8. My dermatologist appointment is in 2 weeks. I need some opinions on how to handle this. I am having second thoughts. At this point, my hand/pinky is just finally healing up from my last glutening 5 weeks ago. 5 WEEKS ago. =( To describe what has happened, after I broke out in blisters, my pinky progressively peeled off the skin once the blisters...
  9. Out of desperation thats what I did this morning. I haven't had problems with my rash, but because of my stomach and I am finding its dairy thats the problem. I dropped eggs due to my rash, and instead increased my dairy without really thinking about it and I have been having more stomach problems. Do you have gluten in shampoos, soaps, moisturizers...
  10. The blood test is notorious for false negatives, There 30% failure rate on the blood test to not diagnose people who do infact have celiac. The endoscope if your doctor did not take enough biopsies or take them incorrectly can give you a false negative. I too went gluten free 2 years ago for a month. It didn't help at all. This time I went truely...
  11. I had hoped it wouldn't come to this. But to decrease my egg intake, trying to heal up my hand. I started eating chex with milk in the morning...and after 5 days of feeling like I was stuffed into my clothes because I was so bloated. So today I decided to cut out all dairy...because the only thing I have changed was breakfast. ....and I am already ...
  12. Have you been checked for vitamin deficiency? I felt the fatique/muscle weakness/out of breath from severly deficient on vitamin D. I would almost fall asleep just walking, it was scary. Also have you had your thyroid tested, the carpal tunnel type feeling and tiredness can also go along with hypothyroid?
  13. You have Celiac based on your blood panel. If the doctor is willing to diagnose you with Celiac without a scope, then you have an official diagnosis of celiac you don't need the scope. The GI doctor will probably want to do the scope to once again prove you have celiac you will have to be eating gluten when you go for the scope. I don't know if there is...
  14. I drink clear rum like Malibu and Heaven Hill. I clearly cannot have vodka it works a number on me, its not good. I really enjoyed vodka too, but oh well it doesn't like me now.
  15. How long after being gluten-free can you try gluten-free oats again safely? I know they were a problem for me when going gluten-free, but I do miss oatmeal, I was hoping I could try them again in the near future. I am at 2 months gluten free, with 2 glutened incidents. Also, do I need to buy rice thats gluten free, or is it 'safe' to assume all rice...
  16. I have a seperate genetic clotting disorder prothombin 20210a. I luckily have never had a clot. I was diagnosed after repeated miscarriages. I have not been officially diagnosed with celiac.
  17. I just want to say, that I feel for you! I have 2 kids within 12 months, and in the meantime before my oldest was 2 my Mother in Law passed away. I am sure this is an extremely stressful time for you to top it off with a celiac diagnosis. I will say that my kids are 4 and 5 now, by the time my oldest was 3.5 things get so much easier. I have switched...
  18. I have had plantar fasciitis. But I was also working out/running alot at the time too. I did a LOT of tennis ball rolling and I would shove my feet to the end of my bed at night, so my foot was pulled into the 90 degree angle. It took me a few months but I haven't had it back since. (I also haven't been running alot though also, because I wasn't feeling...
  19. I agree with Takala - I think your husband is telling you this because you are without probably wanting to, blaming him for your glutening or even if you are not blaming him, he is feeling responsible for it becuase he is responsible for the food production. As far as the toddler, the toddler is related to you, then I would stop giving him/her bread at...
  20. It takes some people 6 months or more. The first week I still had a lot of stomach pain (my main symptom) until someone on here said that some people have to stop eating oats even if they are labeled gluten free. Which I was eating everyday. As soon as I stopped the oats, my stomach pain stopped. It took me until 3-4 weeks before I felt like a new person...
  21. The genetic test won't help you prove anything though because they just give you an 'increased' chance and you can have celiac without the genes. If you feel better I would continue on. I am in a similar situation. I have negative blood work. My mother has both genetic markers for celiac (she was also tested but was negative). This means it's a...
  22. I was having that same itch/burn I figured it might be gluten in my shampoo ( Suave Rosemary & Mint). So I switched to Head and Shoulders it helped but it didn't entirely stop it. Now I am using Dr Bronners Peppermint Soap, I finally have full relief, I am guessing there might be gluten in head and shoulders also but that it was still helping with...
  23. I have terrible acne. I went to a dermatologist finally this year, I am now 31 and I am as broke out as when i was 16. When I was pregnant I was completely clear it was fantastic, so clearly hormones play a role in it. Basically he said it has to do with a bacteria in the face, I was put on a antibiotic 3 times a day, and basically I need to take it...
  24. I can't help you too much...except I was glutened about 2 weeks prior to the holidays then again on Christmas Eve....and I am still paying for it. Things just aren't quite right in my intestines...and my skin is horribly peeling off and painful still. My only strategy has been to be severely restricting on eating ONLY gluten-free labeled things...and...
  25. I just went gluten free in November 2011...and I am having similar problems with my skin. It burns hurts most of the day. It easily turns red, even from just moving my forehead or mouth.... I have narrowed it down to my shampoos and moisturizers so I switched this weekend to Dr. Bronners Soap for Shampoo (gluten-free) and a gluten-free moisturizer (Burts...
