  1. If it makes you feel any better, two weeks before Christmas we traveled, and I wound up eating gluten. I seem to react in my skin now. I just got my skin to heel up 1 week ago, and I am still struggling occasionally with my skin breaking back open. Just seeing the skin on my hand I can't imagine what it might be doing to the insides!
  2. I am about 3 months gluten free now. Did anyone find that they gained weight even though they were heavy to start with? I have struggled to lose weight for the last 4 years. I am about 30lbs overweight, I have gained 4lbs during the first 2 months gluten free. However now it seems that I am starting to lose a little now. I am hoping to lose more...
  3. Progresso makes them, they are clearly labeled and at nearly every Target, Walmart and grocery store. The ones that I have found are gluten free are Cream of Mushroom, Corn Chowder, Clam Chowder, Split Pea...etc.
  4. Nothing changed after only one week for me either. It took 3-4 weeks before I felt better, and for many here it takes longer than that. Also, cutting out gluten free oats helped me immensly. They were causing a lot of problems for me. A lot of celiacs have diarrhea.
  5. ditto the above poster. You are doing more harm then good by eating gluten. You are probably making your other condition worse, by ignoring the fact that celiac is an autoimmune disorder, so everytime you eat gluten your body is trying to attack itself. Gluten Free food can be inexpensive. Buy rice in bulk (its like $6 for 10lbs at Sam's)...but potatoes...
  6. Do you think it could be ITB band? I have ITB band tightness, more so on my right side. If I were to describe the pain it would be a dull achiness that gets worse as the day goes on, or if I am walking or standing a lot all day, but not always. It can ache anywhere from the middle of my thigh, to dull achy knee pain. I have had it extend slightly down...

    ARCHIVED Vent.

Ugh. I am just having a rotten day. It is mostly my fault too. I quit drinking milk a few weeks ago. And it stopped all the residual symptoms I was having, after going gluten free. My stomach was decreasing in size, no more rumbling in my stomach! So..what did I do last night, I was starving and the almond milk I had just bought wasn't cold yet...
  8. I have noticed a direct correlation for me between milk intake and my belly size/distension. I have stopped drinking milk entirely for about 2 weeks, and within a week it was much better. I made the mistake of having a bowl of cereal last night...and my belly is hugely bloated again. I feel fine but my stomach is like 2 times the size it was the day before...

    ARCHIVED Test Help

I would say you need a minimum of a month gluten free if not longer.
  10. As far as the new symptoms belly rumbling...etc. I am at 3 months gluten free also. I have found I have had to give up eggs in the last month and cut down on raw dairy. I have had new skin trouble, and I have had to be super careful about gluten, vitamins, face moisturizer. So at least to me it seems normal to have new symptoms. Once I have been more...
  11. You just accept it. I mean its hard, but I realized that labeling myself celiac ultimately doesn't matter, if I eat gluten I break out in a terrible rash now, skin peels off its awful...so in that regard I don't need a piece of paper to tell me I have celiac. I don't think I have gluten intolerance either because I have several relatives who can't eat gluten...
  12. I am not great at reading these test results...but here is just a brief excerpt "
  13. It took me at least 4 weeks, and that was after I stopped eating oats. Oats were giving me stomach pains still even though they were gluten free. But I would try it for at least 6 months - 12 months. I know for me everytime I get glutened it takes me 2-5 weeks now to recover again...so if you aren't being extremely careful that could be some of the problem...
  14. Update - well I can't do it. I can't eat gluten. It took me until last week to finally get the raw open areas on my pinky to heal and I was gluten free that entire time. I talked it over with husband last night....Given this dermatologist quick to diagnose me with stress induced ezcema I am not sure if I am going to even discuss it with him, I am just...
  15. Have you been tested for celiac? There is some association between EE and celiac. Open Original Shared Link
  16. A gene test would show that you carried genetic markers that show that are at an increased risk for having celiac. Unfortunately it does not prove whether you do or don't have celiac.
  17. Next time I would avoid having so much of a discussion about it. Invite everyone over, tell them you will be making a wonderful dinner. If they ask, say I am making a roast, pie, potatoes (or whatever). Let that be it. If she says "EW! No oil or onions...blah blah" Then just say I will make sure and to accomidate you, I know how difficult it is to eat...
  18. I'm self diagnosed. I had negative blood work, and I was so tired of the stomach pain and ezcema that instead of working with my allergist, I went gluten free. He agreed after 3 months of a food journal that he would refer me to a GI, for a scope if I could prove if through a food journal. Seemed like way too much work, and more time I would have to...
  19. Are you eating oats? Gluten free oats? That was my source of stomach pain after going gluten free. I was eating a lot of gluten-free oatmeal the first week because it was easy....it was causing a lot of stomach pain!
  20. I am no expert. But Celiac is genetic. It is very likely your children have it. The blood test has a 30% failure rate, it will negatively report someone as not having celiac, when they actually do. Its even more inaccurate in children. You don't need an actual diagnose to have them eat gluten free if the tests are negative and you don't want to go through...
  21. Thanks! I thought it might be that just of what the ad eluded to! I will have to make my mom watch!
  22. I am not a diagnosed celiac, I had negative blood work. However I am gluten free and will remain so. I am transitioning our entire house. If I have it, there is a high probability that one of the kids have it (which works in reverse for you guys, if one of your kids have it, ONE of you does have it, its not a probability you have to have it one of you...
  23. I can't say forsure, because I haven't been diagnosed with DH. But it looks exactly like the rash I just posted about breaking out on my neck looks like!! Its very itchy, especially if I touch or itch it...it makes it much more itchy. Its currently driving me nuts, looks terrible too.
  24. If your sister has celiac, there is a good chance you do too its inherited, genetic. You should have a full celiac blood panel done. demediated IgA, IgA, IgG...etc.
  25. I am still taking 6000 units of vitamin D per day if you were curious. Its supposed to be my maintenance dose since I was so low, and was back up to normal in July.
