  1. The church I go too,, has enough people with celiac/gluten intolerance that they give the gluten-free host out in one of the communion lines now at only one mass. Ask your church they may already have it and you may not be aware of it.
  2. I don't know about your first part...but I got sick at first trying to continue gluten free oats, so I cut them out for the first 4 months gluten free, and was able to add them back in. You really need to not eat them for several months if they are bothering you, then retesting. The recommendation is that you refrain from gluten free oats until you are...
  3. I usually bring something I can eat brownies, salad, coleslaw, or dip with gluten free tostitos. these are relatively inexpensive, about $5 or less for the dish, the brownies is really one of the more expensive items because I use a mix....and usually either eat before hand, or bring my lunch along with me. I hate not to participate though! Just because...
  4. Did you have a scratch test for the wheat allergy? If not, I would suggest a scratch test, if you react via scratch test...you should NOT be eating wheat, you can't just cut back. But I would get retested. I had terrible cystic acne. Since going gluten free its gone....I still have terrible acne, but I no longer have had the cystic acne. I really believe...
  5. It could be pesticides...my sister had a severe reaction to an apple, and they narrowed it down to the pesticides. If you do add fruit or veggies back in, just add one back in and buy organic, wash it well...maybe try bananas for just one week. Something with a skin you peel off, and still make sure its organic!
  6. At right around 4 months gluten-free, I started having a lot of bloating, I found that I am lactose intolerant. I was eating the same things I had for the last few months, but the bloating would become terrible by the afternoon, and I had this sour stomach awful feeling. At first I thought it was something else I was eating, but as soon as I eliminated...

    ARCHIVED Dh "spot"

Did you test positive for celiac? I tested negative and they wouldn't biopsy my spot, of what might be DH, I decided to go gluten free without waiting for them. I have a spot of blisters. I have been gluten free for 6 months, and have been glutened 2 times. When i first went gluten free, it completely cleared up, but I could see where it was. Then...
  8. I don't buy many gluten-free replacement items anymore. I just buy potatoes, eggs, rice, meat, veggies, canned diced tomatoes, dried beans. Thats really about it. Some things I have found are relatively inexpensive, fryer chickens (I buy mine from Kroger, they are labeled gluten free) they are between $3-$4 I put them in the crock pot, they cook all...
  9. I know that you are a teenager. I remember how I was treated as a teenager, and I didn't have gluten problems then! But for me...as an adult, I think sometimes you have to realize that people just aren't worth arguing with, or trying to show them something. People are just ignorant, and sometimes they perfer to be that way. If they are mistreating...
  10. I had to give up oats entirely in the beginning, they made me feel so much worse! Now I can have them though, I am 6 months gluten-free. I also found out at like 2 months gluten-free, that I was starting to have bloating and stomach issues, it was from lactose. I cut it out of my diet, and felt a lot better. Now I still cheat on lactose though because...
  11. LOL @ "One doctor even prescribed phentermine for the weight gain and literally called it a "magic pill" - I thought my heart was going to explode after taking just a couple of doses!" The same thing happened to me! lol. I felt awful! If you feel better gluten free, I would stick it out. I don't have an official diagnosis. I had years of random stomach...
  12. For me the answer was to just go gluten free. I was tired of feeling the way I did, the doctor suggested I kept a food journal for 3 months and they would consider the endoscope. I just couldn't take it, I figured if I stuck out gluten free for 3 months and see how I felt. I felt AWESOME within 4 weeks, I knew that I had a gluten problem. I am 6 months...
  13. Ditto all the posters! You have celiac. Find a new doctor. There aren't really borderline tests for celiac, if its positive, its positive. You either have it or you don't. You were just lucky enough to find it before you had severe damage in your intestines.
  14. This is the 2nd time I was glutened since going gluten free. The first time I had maybe 30% of the area broke out in the rash, it took me over 5 weeks for my skin to close back up, from being raw and cracking open. This time, I injested a small amount of gluten, I broke out in 75% of the area in a rash, a much larger area and many more blisters....but...
  15. I would go have a vitamin workup. Zombie like, extreme fatique, muscle pain...are all symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. When I was first diagnosed with a severe vitamin D deficiency, I just felt in a fog all day, it felt like I was litterally dragging myself through each day, I would go to bed early and wake up the next morning, after sleeping like...
  16. I am struggling with a Vitamin D deficiency. This is going on year 2 of my struggle with it. I was first at only a level of 14, my doctor had me taking 10kIUs a day, I got back up to 55, and then 5,000IUs as my maintenance dose, but my level started dropping and by this winter I was back down to 23. They don't seem as concerned this time, but I am aware...
  17. Ditto the other posters....my mother in law sadly ignored her blood in stool for months and other GI distress symptoms by the time she went to the doctor it was too late (she had cancer).
  18. Thats pretty much what happened with me. I was feeling much better, then started having problems with bloating, sour stomach. I am lactose intolerant I believe now. If I avoid milk I feel good again, if I eat ice cream or cottage cheese the next day I have a sour stomach, bloating...etc all again. Butter and cheeses dont' seem to bother me. Also cooking...
  19. I can't find anymore information to find out if this cottage cheese is gluten free or not. Its the Sam's Club Daily Chef small curd cottage cheese.
  20. Everything you are feeling is normal when you start eating gluten free. The good news is that over a few weeks to 1 month or more you get really good at eating gluten free. I felt really limited at first, and I don't at all now. (Except for eating out, I still struggle). I eat greek yogurt and berries for breakfast with honey. For snacks I eat...

    ARCHIVED Ceranwrap?

I am on rash breakout #2 since going gluten free...this time is by far the worse. I thought it was better than the other times because I saw less initial bumps...but boy was I wrong. Anyways, has anyone tried wrapping themselves in ceranwrap? Mine is on my pinky, and as of now I am up to 25% of my pinky is all peeled off looks like I am going to...
  22. I wouldn't wait until May 1st. I would get a new family doctor, with a positive ANA, you should be checked more thouroughly for thyroid problems, its a sign that you do have an autoimmune disorder.. You should do a full Thyroid blood panel including antibody test.
  23. I am a self-diagnosed celiac. I was negative on the bloodwork, and have several family members that can't eat gluten. Have problems with semmingly random stomach pain and a skin rash. After 5 years of trying to get back into running, I was an avid runner before having kids. I could NOT understand why I did not improve, I could go out and run 1/2 a...
  24. You had two biospies positive for celiac, but because the bloodwork was negative your doctor refuses to diagnose you with celiac? If my above interpretation of your post is true, your doctor is an idiot. You have celiac from the sounds of it. It takes many people 6months to 1 year to feel better...and if you are not very careful of the diet you won't...
  25. Ditto this. Before I found out what it might be...I tried cortizone cream, antifungal cream, 2 types...then I finally saw a dermatologist who vaguely dianosed it as stress induced excema and gave me the strongest steroid cream they have...and all that did was slow the turn over rate on it...and made it itch hurt SO much WORSE! I have found keeping lotion...
