  1. Its entirely up to you. I was gluten free for 4 weeks, then ate gluten. It took me over 5 weeks to get my hand to heal again. I have diagnosed as 'stress enduced excema' but I suspect its DH. Its entirely gone when I am gluten free, and within 12 hours of eating gluten it had spread and gotten much larger and worse then when I was eating gluten. I...
  2. I would go get your vitamin levels checked. My vitamin D was found to be severly deficient. My doctor said that unless I heavy dosed, I would never bring my levels up. I had to take 10,000 units a day. My maintenance dose is 5k a day.
  3. I am not sure where you live, but I know in Michigan there is an organization that gives our venison to those in need. We get usualy 1-2 deer a year (my husband hunts) and I do roasts a lot because they are cheap and gluten free, throw 8-7 potatoes in a crock pot with 1/2 a bag of carrots, then the free venison roast on top, the whole crock pots worth...
  4. What if you just don't do anything and let your body battle it out? Would it also dissapate in 2-3 days? My skin does awful things, so I cut out eggs the last time I got glutened to help it heal but it still took me 5 weeks and I am trying to still heal up a spot on my hand.
  5. I would see another doctor if you want an official diagnosis. The blood test shows you have celiac. Not all doctors require a positive biopsy anymore to diagnose you with celiac.
  6. I don't think you should eat gluten. I tested positive for a gluten allergy IgE, and my family doctor said that that can be indicative of celiac, (I tested negative for the celiac blood test though). She basically said you can test positive as an allergy when you actually have celiac. If you tested positive for gluten, then removed gluten and the...
  7. Try almond milk, its gluten and dairy free, and excellent! I am over 3 months gluten free and a little while ago I noticed my linger problems seemed to be getting much worse, I narrowed it down to the milk I was having on my cereal in the morning. Within a week of eliminating milk I was so much better! I so far can still eat cheese, yogurt and sour cream...
  8. I have a 5 and 4 year old...I cook gluten free for them. Buy gluten-free mac n cheese, gluten-free brownies, Rice, gluten-free Chex. There are a lot of ways around gluten, even for kids! Smoothies! If you have it chances are your kids might have it too anyways, its certaintly not going to hurt them to be gluten free.
  9. I know what worked best for me for the first few weeks was to just eat things that specifically listed their product as gluten free. https://www.celiac.com/articles/21710/1/Could-Xanthan-Gum-Sensitivity-be-Complicating-your-Celiac-Disease-Recovery/Page1.html
  10. The coconut cookie dough ice cream is AWESOME! And I don't like coconut.
  11. Are you sure that the low-fat cheese, lactaid sour cream and lactaid cheese is gluten free? I honestly have been sticking to full fat dairy products because they are less processed...but even then I have to carefully make sure I don't eat too much dairy during the day. At this point I think I am lactose intolerant. I seem to not be able to handle cow...
  12. Ditto this! I would tell her. Print out information about diagnosing celiac for her, and how biopsy IS a diagnosis of celiac. She needs more information clearly.
  13. You aren't seeing any improvement yet? Sounds like you have celiac, he just wants you to eat gluten free to confirm. I went gluten free in November. I have had to stop eating eggs, and now lactose to feel better.
  14. I have a question, I don't know if this is normal or TMI.... But since going gluten free I have noticed I have this sensation of rolling hardness over my right side abdomenen. Its sort of uncomfortable, not painful. As time has progressed now, it doesn't have the rolling sensation but it feels hard sometimes, when I lay on my stomach I can feel that...
  15. I would get the blood tests results that say you have hypercoagulation. Hypercogulation is also known as thrombophilia. I have a genetic thrombophilia. I have more specifically prothrombin G20210 gene mutation, heterozygous. That means in the 2nd stage of clotting something is wrong with one of my proteins or something, so I clot to fast. You need to...
  16. I cannot recommend this book enough. My kids will eat anything thanks to it. She talks about sensory issues, child phsycology, food being a battle ground, and how to stop it. I read it before having kids and followed a lot of her recommendations early on, so we luckily haven't had to really battle any major problems. Also, 4 year olds are all about independence...
  17. I was having problems with milk...so I cut out raw milk, and I was not having as much problems with bloating. I still eat cheese and butter though, and things with 'milk' on the label. I was doing well, until this week I am noticing the Progresso soups, I was eating for lunch, are causing me to have bloating problems again. I am eating Cream of Mushroom...
  18. I should have said I fear the taste/texture! Not gluten! I had a hard time finding crackers I liked at first! Although I think the longer I am gluten free now the better the gluten-free bread products are tasting to me. I figure in maybe 2-3 more months when I do try bread I will have forgotten gluten breads taste and texture.
  19. I don't really like taking food to parties either just for me, I think it just looks weird, unless I know the people well and they know I am gluten-free. So I will eat before we go or else I bring a dish for everyone that is gluten free. If you are being inundated with questions, then answer them! I mean people ask me, I briefly discuss how I was fairly...
  20. The endomysial antibodies are specific ONLY to celiac. She has celiac. They confirm by biopsy because it is at this point the only 'official' way to diagnos it, as well as to survery damage so they have a comparison for later. There is a link between EE and celiac, it was recently in the news. I brief google search brought up this: Open Original...
  21. I crave the texture the most I think. So I grab some gluten free chips, or make a nice crispy waffle. I think its the crispness of bread that I miss about it. Do you know what about it you miss the most? I have yet to try any gluten free breads..I fear them.
  22. Are you drinking hard ciders that are specifically labeled gluten free? Maybe that could be the problem. I love drinking hard cider, as I miss beer very much...along with crunchy food (which I am finding more of though). Aly1 - If you were drinking vodka. I know I never never get D, even pre-gluten free. I had my first vodka since being gluten free...
  23. My gluten events are different now that I am gluten free. Before gluten free I had random stomach pain that would last for hours, and just a general fogginess, and more recently vitamin D problems, which made me extremely fatiqued and foggy feeling. Now that I am gluten free. By the next morning I break out in 1000s of blisters on my hand, which hurt...
  24. Removing something from your diet, shouldn't cause problems, and it shouldn't cause problems just 2 times a month. To me it sounds like maybe your are being glutened and don't realize it. Your shampoo or vitamin? Or a drink or something!
