ARCHIVED A New Weight Loss Support/accountability Thread
Joni63 replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hey Everyone, I just stopped by and read back a part of this thread! Sounds like most of you are doing great on your diets! GREAT JOB Lonewolf! You have really done well! Celiac mommy, I too bought the ABS diet book, just before Christmas. I started it the first of the year and have lost 8 lbs! It's so easy and I honestly don't have the cravings... -
ARCHIVED 7 Yo Throwing Up In Sleep
Joni63 replied to ANDOBEAR's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, My son has just gone through something similar. He was throwing up in the middle of the night and not remembering in the morning. He did that twice and once he threw up several times starting in the middle of the night and lasting until noon the next day. He also was complaining of stomach aches for about 2 months on and off and this last time I took... -
ARCHIVED Ever Shared A Fridge With A Seitan Eater?
Joni63 replied to Mango04's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey Mango, Tupperware would be a good idea if you think she will use it. Is it possible for you to buy a small refrigerator where you can keep your foods? I know they sell for under $100.00. -
ARCHIVED Just A Bit Touched!
Joni63 replied to shan's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That is really nice! It's great to hear when people want to accomodate someone with Celiac. She sounds like a very nice person. I bet your daughter will have a great time I'll tell my nice story: My son is on the trial diet and I put him and our family on the prayer chain at work because I knew how hard it would be for him to adjust to his new... -
ARCHIVED Epstein Barr Virus/adrenal Fatiguee
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
OMGosh Kassandra. You and I have so many similar problems. Is your DHEA level high? She didn't test all my hormones yet, but that is coming soon if I don't feel better in a month or so. She said my Epstein-barr virus numbers were really high. I had some really bad symptoms in May - terrible leg aches, headaches, waking up feeling hungover, horrible fatigue... -
ARCHIVED Epstein Barr Virus/adrenal Fatiguee
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
She called back and told me to take Goto Kola. Anyone have experience with this herb? I'm hesitant to try the isocort. My cortisol levels haven't been tested yet. I think we are doing that in a month if I don't feel any better with my vitamin/mineral supplements and the Goto Kola. Is exercise ok when you have reactivated EBV and Adrenal Fatigue? My... -
ARCHIVED Epstein Barr Virus/adrenal Fatiguee
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
What happened to your friend sounds similar to what I think happened to me. I was dx'd with Celiac and did great for a few months then felt horrible, achy legs, waking up feeling hungover, can't sleep and completely fatigued within an hour of waking up. I hope your friends daughter can get through her graduation fine, it is such a great yet stressful time... -
Hi, I'm seeking information on these 2 problems. Just found out my EBV from when I had mononucleosis at age 14 is reactivated. ND said my numbers are way above the normal range. She doubled some of my supplements and told me it was the cause of my severe fatigue. She also said one of my hormones is causing my adrenal glands to secrete more than it should...

ARCHIVED Herbal Remedies/vitamins
Joni63 replied to sydneysmommy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I take my calcium/magnesium supplements before bed and was taking regular melatonin. I would still wake up about 2:00am every night. I started taking time release meletonin made by Natrol and sold at Walgreens, says gluten free right on the bottle. It has helped tremendously. I still wake up to use the bathroom and last night there were thunderstorms, but... -

ARCHIVED Celiac And Iga Deficient?
Joni63 replied to vmlehtonen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Ok, now I get it. My sons was very similar. I can't remember which ones, but a couple numbers were also "1". What your saying does make sense. Vickie, glad your getting some answers. Hope you are able to get the other tests so you can have a better idea what's going on. -
ARCHIVED Bruising... Hair Loss... Weight Gain... Help!
Joni63 replied to AshleyRay's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi AshleyRay, I've read that a vitamin K deficiency can cause bruising. There are a number of things that can contribute and since you were severely malnutritioned you might want to get your vitamin A, E, K, all B's, D and your iron including serum ferritin, as well as calcium, magnesium, and folate checked if you haven't already had those done. Here... -
Hi Nan, The first few months for me were horrible. I had so many wierd symptoms - cold sores, gurgly stomach, severe double vision disturbance that lasted 3 weeks, light headedness, headaches, forgetfulness, and aches and pains. Everything got worse before getting better and has taken several (I'm on month 10 now) months. One reason could be just that...

ARCHIVED Anemia And Other Deficiencies
Joni63 replied to ShayFL's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You know, I've just read this whole thread again and I'm totally amazed at how differently doctors handle low vitamin levels. Many do nothing, and the ones who do prescribe supplements do so at such a wide variety of doses. And some say the low ranges are just fine. I just find it is yet another negative to our medical system which is so lacking in somthing... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Iga Deficient?
Joni63 replied to vmlehtonen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Shay, I'm confused about your post? If your results were positive, they wouldn't be within the normal range, right? I'm glad your having positive results with the diet. -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Iga Deficient?
Joni63 replied to vmlehtonen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
In my case my Gastro is hard to deal with and when I went back to him telling him I felt horrible, he gave me a CBC and everything showed normal so he told me my problems weren't related to Celiac. He even said foggy head would not be caused by Celiac. I went back to my PCP and asked her to test my iron and other vitamins and she did and found problems... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Iga Deficient?
Joni63 replied to vmlehtonen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My son is going through a similar situation. Antigliadin Abs, IgG is 16, normal 0-9 total IgA is 53 normal 34-305 All other numbers came out to normal range. Although total IgA is not under the lower limits, it is on the low end. Our doctor said to put him on the diet for a few months, recheck his bloodwork and if the Antigliadin Abs, IgG comes... -
ARCHIVED My Sons Labwork
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I just realized i didn't post another result: Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 53, normal 34-305 Is this total IGA? Would this result show a deficiency? -
ARCHIVED My Sons Labwork
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thank you for the information about IgG and total IgA. He will be tested again in 3 months and I will make sure these tests are included. I also have these funky neuro symptoms. As I'm healing I'm figuring out more and more wierd neuro symptoms that are going away or already gone. I just read in another thread about a poster who's eye swells after injesting... -
ARCHIVED My Sons Labwork
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thank you for your hugs and links, Momma Goose. I just can't understand the medical jargon about the Celiac panel. I'm sure in time I will learn. Do you know what other things the antigliadin IgG test would be positive for? I need to do some research, but honestly the tests and their names confuse me when I try to read about them. No, unfortunately... -
Heres the story: For about 2 months my son has complained of stomach aches, dizziness and can't handle when too many things are happening at once around him. He has these totally miserable times when nothing will cause him to behave properly or cooperate, luckily it has always been at home. His grades in school have declined and he is completely frustrated...

ARCHIVED Anemia And Other Deficiencies
Joni63 replied to ShayFL's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Shay and Ursa, I'm also afraid about all the side effects I've read about iron injections. Although an almost instant fix sounds like a good thing right now, especially when they drew about 12 viles of blood last week to get all my tests done (and I have a nice bruise to show for it). I'm sure that was worse than a needle in the butt! -
ARCHIVED Anemia And Other Deficiencies
Joni63 replied to ShayFL's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I will definately let you know! I took Florivital for a short time. I just can't take liquid supplements. It tasted like drinking from a tin can - awful. Not as bad as the cod liver oil - never again! I don't think the Florivital had many mgs of iron though - maybe 20mg or something. Probably not enough to help much when serum ferritin is so low,... -
ARCHIVED Anemia And Other Deficiencies
Joni63 replied to ShayFL's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Shay, I also have low ferritin and D. My PCP basically told me to take a multi vitamin, but when I went to the Naturopath she said I need much more than that. She put me on 5,000 units of D. and 750mg (120 elemental iron). I was just retested Thursday and am waiting for the results. She said when the levels are really low, it takes large doses to get... -
