ARCHIVED Should I Be Seeing More Results?
Joni63 replied to jesslynn555's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi jesslynn555, I'm the one in my family with Celiac. I'm sure it must be tough when it is your child. I can tell you that my energy has not improved much and I am 8 months gluten free. My stomach is also still bloated and I'm trying to find the cause. I know it is a lot different since I am age 43 at diagnosis. Some things that you could try to keep an... -
Ear Problems Associated With Celiac

Can you explain what the Choropractor does to get the fluid draining? I'm very interested in alternative methods. I've considered candling...any opinions if that would help ear fluid? Thanks! -
Ear Problems Associated With Celiac
Joni63 replied to twinsmom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
flourgirl, Is it common practice to have a hole put in your eardrum for drainage. Is that what you are saying is barberic or the flushing out of the ear? I'm not sure I would want anyone to purposely puncture my eardrum without trying many, many other options first. It sounds dangerous, but for all I know it could be everyday common practice. I really... -
ARCHIVED My Doctor Is Really Working With Me!
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thank you so much kitten37 and OBXMom. I was just about at my wits end because it is a group of doctors and I haven't been happy with the others I've seen there so far. She was my last hope or I was going to branch out and look for another GP. Something that is so scary because it's such a pain with my insurance. -
Ear Problems Associated With Celiac
Joni63 replied to twinsmom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm in the middle of trying to get my ear problems figured out now. Mine started ringing in December and have not quit. (I was just dx'd Celiac in August) I ended up with an ear infection about a month ago and was put on antibiotics. Like you, my infection has cleared but the fluid and pressure is still there. I'm visiting an ENT on Monday to see if they... -
ARCHIVED My Doctor Is Really Working With Me!
Joni63 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hey everyone, I have been posting about some of the problems I'm having such as ringing in the ears, difficulties sleeping, candida problems (due to recent antibiotics), still bloating, stomach pain and fatigue and got a lot of feedback from people on this board about different tests and things to have checked. My stomach did go flatter and didn't hurt... -
ARCHIVED Help With Newly Adopted Baby?
Joni63 replied to Alexander's Mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Liz, I agree with the problems with oats. Also, if the rice milk is Rice Dream brand some people have problems with it due to the fact that it is processed using barley. Most of us do not use that brand. I had a problem with it even though it does say gluten free there is a small amount of barley in it. I use Shoprite brand rice milk and know that... -
ARCHIVED If I've Been Gluten-free For Five Days...
Joni63 replied to nikki2008's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi nikki, I don't think wheezing and leg swelling are very common symptoms. The hives you mention could be caused from DH which some Celiacs get and it is a skin rash on your skin. If you have hives and wheezing and leg swelling I think you should see a Doctor to because you may be having an allergic reaction to the wheat products. Wheezing is not something... -
ARCHIVED Inexperienced Newbie Got Glutened @ Red Lobster
Joni63 replied to Sissy's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Chili's has sour cream that is NOT gluten free. A lot of restaurants do. For salads I was told to ask for the dressing on the side, that will minimize a chance for CC. Hope you feel better soon. -
Thanks for that information bakingbarb. I would have never thought Wiki had it! A while back I found this site: Open Original Shared Link

The taste has changed a lot in the past few years. What happened to the creamy milk chocolate I used to remember as a child?

I went back to my older bloodwork and found that I had been tested for the Iron and TIBC and also B12 and folate. This was taken 1 month after I went gluten free (the end of August) Iron Bind. Cap. TIBC 338 250-450 UIBC 230 150-375 Iron, Serum 107 35-155 Iron Saturation ...

The only thyroid test I've ever had was TSH. It was 1.817, in the normal range. They never tested me for any other thyroid numbers. I will talk to her about that, too. Thanks!

Hello, I'm confused about what my Doctor has tested me for and what vitimins I should be taking supplements for. Apparently all my bloodwork comes out looking good, but I don't think I'm being tested for some vitimins I should be checked for. I'm still very fatigued all the time and think this is the reason. All the numbers below are within range so I...

ARCHIVED Otc Cold Medicines
Joni63 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hello, I have a congested chest and can't figure out if any medicines I have are gluten free. Of course it's saturday night after 6:00pm and no one is available at the companies I'm calling. I need to know of a brand of medicine that loosens congestion, Guaifenison plain would be fine, from either Walmart, Walgreens or Rite AId. Also is there a brand... -

That is good news Amy, thanks for lettting us know. I think the new website will be great with all the hard work they seem to be putting into it! Wow! I hope it isn't the makeup. Were you using a new brush to put it on? One of the brushes I ordered came in with a really strong glue smell on it and I had to wash it off really well before using... -
Manwich Sloppy Joe Sauce
Joni63 replied to Joni63's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I doubt I would react. My case is tough, I either don't react to minimal amounts of gluten or don't recognize my symptoms. Other times I can definately tell, but my symptoms have varied so much from glutening to glutening. That is exactly what they told me and the representative was super nice and went out of her way to tell me about the vinegar.... -
Hello, I haven't been worrying about dilstilled vinegar because I read it is rarely derived from wheat. I called Hunt's yesterday and they informed me that the distilled vinegar they use in their sloppy joe sauce is either derived from corn or wheat. I also read that the proteins that cause Celiac's to react are removed in the distillation process. ...

LOL Stacie! I love your idea. I think you should write it as a suggestion to EM. It would be so much nicer if they would put the labels on the top of the lid. I'm going to brave this one too. Was it hard to do? Are the labels still sticky and stay on the top? Hey Paula - I use 2 - 3 layers of foundation. I seem to use more if I use the Original... -

Hey Liz, glad to hear from you! Congrats on the team finishing 8th in the state tournament. You must be very proud. I bet you'll be glad to have that extra time now. Keep us posted on your progress towards your goal. I'm setting a goal too. I'm aiming for 10 lbs by June 1st. I know it will be tough, but do-able. 8 weeks and counting. Your close... -
ARCHIVED Is Fluconazole Gluten-free?
Joni63 replied to bigapplekathleen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the info about Glenmarks generic Diflucan. Sometimes these companies phone numbers are not easily accessible at the pharmacies. One thing I found out about Cipro is that one generic company may make a non gluten-free version, while another will. I recently ran into this problem myself. After checking with 4 pharmacies and who they use for their... -

Hey everyone, Donna, sounds like your still going strong on your plan. Hey Kat, nice to hear from you. Glad things are improving. Quitting smoking is tough, but you will be so glad when you finally do it for good. Good luck! I have gained 5 lbs. and it makes no sense. I bet it looks great. It took some time for me to get a compliment. I bet it will happen when you least expect it. I think I'll order the angled brush as soon as the special changes. I can always order the Baby Kabuki later when it's back in stock. YES, clear top EM jars would be great. I dread turning them over to check their names since I've...
