  1. My heart breaks for everyone that has been deserted by their loved ones when they got so sick We also thought I was dying. And I was suicidal. Told my husband to divorce me, I was totally ruining our lives. I was a total mess, lying on the couch after work every day just sobbing in pain. I thought I would definitely be in a wheelchair before last year...
  2. I had very high TTG (>200) some gliadin antibodies and no GI symptoms that are considered "typical" (no D or C but nausea and LOTS of unexplained weight loss)... My biopsy showed total villous atrophy and the doc said he actually saw damage with the naked eye. My celiac diagnosis was a total fluke as the neuro was trying to rule out stuff and ran every...
  3. Oh, it can take much much longer to feel better (not to discourage you). I had neuro problems and pain and I have been into this 9 months and am starting to see improvement. Be good to yourself, take it one day at a time but the changes may not be quick. Patience is a virtue in this stupid celiac game. Everyone told me (the Dr's) that I should start to...
  4. SOrry, posting twice!!! I didn't see til now that you had been tested and it was negative. You can still be gluten intolerant OR have celiac disease and not enough antibodies to show up...I would give the gluten-free diet a shot. My first month after going gluten-free, I felt HORRIBLE!!! WOrst flu ever. It slowly got better. The crappy thing (no pun intended...
  5. It could be Celiac. It could be other food intolerances. It could be non-celiac gluten sensitivity. We can't tell you, we don't know. As far as I can see you have a few options: 1) Get a blood test. See if you have the antibodies to celiac. If you do, your Dr will probably want to do a biopsy. I wouldn't sweat the biopsy, it was a breeze. May be positive...
  6. I hear you!!! My celiac was all nerve damage, anxiety, depression..Found out when a neurologist ran a bunch of tests to rule stuff out and there it was...Did lose weight (30 lbs) but there was no real D or anything. I was thinking cancer. So it was a surprise 8 months later with this TINY slip and oh my GOD, it was horrendous, all the neuro PLUS the D. I...
  7. We do share a household but all the gluten stuff is already made (ie there is no flour floating around) and there is a tiny section of counter that my DH gets to use. His dishes then go in the laundry tub to get prewashed before they go in the dishwasher or kitchen sink, he doesn't even rinse then over dishes that I may have to use at some point, even if...
  8. I licked a spoon that I used to spread almond butter on an english muffin for my husband and had diarrhea for over 6 weeks...i was tested for EVERYTHING (parasites etc) but it started within hours of licking the spoon and was accompanied by excruciating nerve pain...Never ever again. I have never been so sick in my entire life, especially since when I was...
  9. 1) Do not try to replace everything wheat filled with a gluten free alternative. It is not healthy, not practical and most things don't taste that good anyway. Eat fresh naturally gluten free foods (fruit, veggies etc). I wasted SO much time and now basically eat no grains and no processed food and feel much better. 2) Don't rush yourself. The GI Dr. I saw...
  10. Hmm. A couple of thoughts. I never strove to be perfect etc BUT when I started getting symptoms of Celiac, I developed crushing anxiety and almost suicidal depression. Perhaps the anxiety is a manifestation of Celiac. My symptoms were primarily neurological. I expect that many men may not come to internet "chat rooms" to get health advice, whereas women...
  11. sometimes you just have to treat yourself!!!
  12. crap crap crap that is too bad...but at least you know (small teeny consolation)
  13. Run, don't walk away from it. If you have a dietary response, then you have some intolerance and best avoid it...My humble $0.02 ...
  14. Celiac is an autoimmune disease...Doctor proven and apparently she responds to the diet! You can ask him if she was diabetic and insulin made her feel and act SO much better, if he would suggest to just try stopping the insulin. Obviously, she may not need it. Lots and lots of information out there on diabetics who do not get their insulin and it isn't pretty...
  15. in a heartbeat, sign me up, first in line. i am so sick of being sick
  16. Is this the same wine? Open Original Shared Link Under wine/nutrition, they say that their wines ARE gluten free....
  17. i glutened myself in the MOST minor way almost 3 weeks ago. I never had GI symtpoms originally but within hours of this, I had all my neurological and joint pain, nausea and the added treat that I have had D ever since
  18. Oh my. I am screaming with you. And now we breathe. I too was told I was crazy. It's stress. My endoscopy also had SO much damage he told me to stop gluten immediately as well. Visible to the naked eye terrible damage. I am 42 and he said I probably had it all my life. So I stopped the gluten and here we are. ANd now you will stop the gluten and you will...
  19. Hope you're feeling better now....I am beginning to wonder if you aren't reacting to something else besides that little bit of gluten?? Soy, perhaps???

  20. 12 days ago I accidentally glutened myself. I have been sick EVER since, diarrhea every day, several times a day. Feeling awful. I thought it was still the gluten but sheesh, 12 days??? Now, I did not have any D symptoms with my celiac diagnosis but I am now thinking now that maybe I am intolerant to something else. Again, with no gut problems, I was sure...
  21. 12 days ago I accidentally glutened myself. I have been sick EVER since, diarrhea every day, several times a day. Feeling awful. I though
  22. Oh it sure sounds like it could be!
  23. Oh yeah, our symptoms are SO similar...Soul sister in hell? I just don't believe it is a flu because of all of my typical "nerve" and insomnia symptoms... I am just trying to take it easy, but I am SO mad!!! ok, stepping off my pity pot hugs back ada
  24. 10 days. I am still a mess. I cannot believe that I can be so derailed after almost 8 months gluten free to have almost two weeks of this CRAP. (and I do mean crap. literally and figuritively). SO tired. Joint, bone and nerve pain. Feet and hands are killing me, mouth is burning. Canker sores. Stomach issues-well, you don't even want to know. Yesterday I...
