  1. I can so sympathize with you hh73. I really miss exercise and have put on weight. I feel like a blob. My husband did a full iron man triathlon on the weekend. And I can barely drag myself to work. I don't think multi-vitamins are the answer either because all my bloodwork Inc antibodies are perfect. Its very frustrating especially when I can't eat so...

    ARCHIVED I Need Help!

Can you have your blood tested for antibodies to rule out cc? Test for fructose malabsorption. Avoid dairy. Avoid Soy. Avoid sugar. I have similar issues to you and I am finding that I have to avoid lots more foods in addition to gluten.

    ARCHIVED Weight Loss

I have put on about 5 kg since going gluten-free. I think it is because I try to stave off nausea with food. I can no longer eat my formerly healthy diet since apart from gluten, i cant tolerate a lot of fruits, veggies, beans and lentils. I am still really tired and havent been able to resume exercise. That can't help.
  4. Thanks for mentioning eggplant and peppers. I couldnt recall them when writing the post. Luckily I don't like eggplant, but I am still eating cooked peppers which apparently don't have as much effect as raw. Am a bit upset today because at a restaurant for lunch they Couldn't cook me plain potato (or provide any carbohydrate like rice) because the...
  5. Thanks guys. I am booked for the sibo breath test in a few weeks. I am also getting a stool test done - very expensive $495! For the past two days I have avoided breakfast (i had coffee) and I feel so much better! For dinner I eat at around 6.30 pm. I then end up in bed about an hour later. It's an interesting point. Maybe I should make the effort...
  6. Am afraid I won't be much help here! I have issues with mornings - this morning I went against the advice of all the professionals in my 'team' and had no breakfast (I can't stomach anything). I feel better than I have for ages! And am looking forward to lunch. Don't take my experience as typical LOL.
  7. Hi missbonnie - sorry to say this but it may just take time. I am 1 yr gluten-free and still feel tired, Nauseas, have abdom pain, have afternoon naps, am in bed for 11 plus hours overnight etc
  8. Hi guys. My Drs are clueless. Perhaps you have an idea why 1 year post diagnosis I still have the following annoying symptoms. Or is it just a matter of healing? - morning nausea, lower abdominal pain, don't want to eat breakfast. I have serious issues with food (as I imagine lots of you do). I am 1 yr gluten-free. I have negative blood work now. So...
  9. I am gluten-free Coeliac for 1 year. I still have lots of gas and pain. I am on a limited diet - gluten-free and FODMAP - it's really annoying! I just had my blood work done and it's all normal so at least I am avoiding gluten well.
  10. You poor thing! I am glad you vented. I am seeing a therapist who specialists in treating people who have gastric chronic conditions. She says that someone providing you food is a form of nurturing. It is a good feeling to feel that you are being nurtured. And it's something that we all too often miss out on. She is really helping me come to terms with my...
  11. Thanks for all the posts. I just got blood results back today and they are normal, so perhaps I could try some oats. I can't wait to go shopping! Yay!
  12. I would recommend you keep eating wheat and get the Coeliac blood test. You wont get an accurate test result if you stop eating wheat. Stop drinking crappy soda drinks - they are full of rubbish! Eat whole foods. Get yourself breath tested for fructose malabsorption and lactose intolerance. Good luck.
  13. Hi there! A gastroscopy is also something you could get done to get a diagnosis of Coeliac disease. That's what I had done because my dr basically had no idea what was wrong with me so we did almost every diagnostic test imaginable! I think its worth getting a proper diagnosis, probably starting with the blood test. If you are diagnosed you will get ready...
  14. I really miss oats in breakfast cereal! I am in Australia and we are told that the oats cannot be guaranteed gluten-free because of crops sharing the same land (rotation). Are oats safe to eat anywhere else in the world?
  15. Yes, look at shepherd works - I happen to live near sues practice in Melbourne Australia. I got dietary advice from her dietitians when I was diagnosed Coeliac and then later with fructose malabsorption and lactose intolerance. Sue was diagnosed with celiac disease when she was studying her masters degree in Dietics.
  16. Thanks for the links takala!
  17. Thanks for all the comments. Sad that so many of us can't eat bananas on top of everything else!
  18. Hi weluvgators. I live in melbourne. We have lots of restaurants and a huge variety of specialties such as Indian, thai, Malaysian, Greek and Italian. When eating in country towns I stick to simple pan fried fish and veggies. Oh and you MUST try the Grill'd fries- they are gluten-free and are to die for! When at this yummy fast food joint I ask for a...
  19. Why can't Australia import gluten-free oats? I SO miss my muesli!
  20. I am finding tha IGA supermarkets offer a great range of gluten-free foods. I bought a cottage pie today. I am traveling for work and am tired of restaurant meals so this will be an easy and hopefully yummy meal. Personally, as an engineer specializing in analyzers, I know how difficult and expensive analysing down to very low ppm (parts per million)...
  21. Hi. I'm from Melbourne too. Kim
  22. I am in Australia. It's free and takes about a week.
  23. Hi. I guess if I were you I would go to my dr and describe the symptoms. I don't know what your symptoms are apart from the pain but presumably they are gi related. Hopefully your dr will suggest coeliac as an option. Otherwise ask your dr for the full Coeliac blood tests. Or have an endoscope and biopsy. I think you will have to eat gluten such as bread...
  24. Hi! Am so sorry that you have had so many problems for so long. Certainly your symptoms sound like Coeliac disease and also perhaps fibromyalgia (just a thought). I am 40 and have been diagnosed with a biopsy for about a year. Before I was diagnosed I remember saying to my husband that I felt like I was 80! I asked him to take me for drives in the evening...
  25. I agree. It's good to get your blood retested to show a trend towards normal levels. I was retested after about four months because I insisted (I am an engineer and like to see trends). It helped me feel I was doing the right thing because the levels were changing in the right direction.
