    ARCHIVED I'm Hungry!

Hard boiled eggs are easy to prepare and carry. Yogurt. Nuts and dried fruit are a great idea. gluten-free Muesli bars. Reheated leftovers. Pre-made rice with veggies. I am working away from home this week so I have all these problems doubly so. It's harder but not impossible providing you plan ahead.
  3. It must be hard getting the kids to go gluten-free. It's hard and you really do miss favorite flavored and textures especially bread. Are you on the gluten-free diet too? I didnt have any worsening symptoms but certainly I felt hungry. I don't remember having and cravings except for bread! How about you make some yummy gluten-free pizzas to ease the pain...
  4. I was diagnosed Coeliac 1 year ago. It. can take a long time for some symptoms to disappear. My fatigue and abdominal pain are still hanging around. Get your blood tested for iron, zinc, vit d, calcium, b12 and more. Your symptoms certainly sound like gluten poisoning. Good luck, kim
  5. How did it go? Also, how was the fungal infection diagnosed?
  6. Just a little bit more info on the low FODMAP diet. I went to shepherd works in Australia and had the fructose and lactose breath test. I came up as positive for both fructose malabsorption and lactose intolerance. Lactose is easy to solve with a lacteese tablet but with the fructose diet onehas to avoid foods which don't have an approximately 1:1 ratio of...
  7. I think you probably got gluten poisoned possibly by a wheat based food coloring in the caramel. That's all I can think off. Be cautious of all chocolate and caramel flavored toppings, milkshakes etc. Early on I was poisoned by chocolate topping on plain vanilla ice-cream.
  8. When I was first dx I told several work colleagues that i had coeliac disease and couldnt eat gluten most of whom demonstrated polite interest or personal knowledge, however one woman commented that going gluten-free "is all the rage now", as if I had just told her that I was starting the Atkins diet. Yeh right, like I would do this if I had a choice!
  9. I too have issues with food. I have been gluten-free for about a year. I also have fructose malabsorption so I am on further restrictive diet. Still I have constant abdominal pain. I feel weak and tired. I am managing to work full-time but my brain is foggy. Before Xmas I was told I had rapid gastric emptying syndrome - the specialist told me I couldn't eat...
  10. Thanks for all your replies! I am not game to eat one. It's kind've nice to know I am not alone.
  11. Am so sorry to hear you have had so many health issues. I agree this site and a similar depression forum are helping me enormously. My dr and others around me look at me sceptically when i mention brain fog - it doesn't appear to be an accepted symptom but so many of us suffer so much. I am an engineer. For the past few days I have been on site working...
  12. Hi Wook. I would not be relying on the results of a blood test only. Going gluten-free is seriously difficult and if you are truly Coeliac you do need to adhere to the diet strictly and avoid as little as less than a crumb! I got my test results out to compare to yours but it's difficult because different labs use different acceptable ranges (I guess depending...
  13. Yes fatigue was incredible! I felt like just dropping to the floor in a heap and not moving! Gluten poisoning affects me for about a week. I get ab pain, swelling, gas, diarrhea but worst of all is the tiredness. It is a year since going gluten-free. I am still either getting cross contaminated, gluten poisoning or have a reaction to some other food....
  14. I had undiagnosed depression for about 10 years. And I have been diagnosed with celiac disease for 1 year. I have been on an antidepressant (citalopram) for 2 1/2 years - it really helped me feel normal again. Since getting diagnosed with celiac disease I have been slowly getting better (ie abdominal pain lessening, no more diarhoea) but I mentioned...
  15. I see lots of people can eat bananas where they have sensitivities to other foods. And comments that bananas are easy to digest. If I eat a banana I get crippling stomach pain and usually vomit. I can eat banana cake just fine. I am wondering if anyone has the same experience or has an idea of why. It might help me work out what other foods I need to...
  16. Thanks for all the stories. I felt great, was fit and the healthiest I had ever been. 40 years old, 2 great kids, great husband, rewarding job and 2 dogs. So I was very happy. I got a virus - I felt fine when I went to bed but woke up with incredible dizziness. I fell out of bed to the floor and vomited. I began panicking cos it was really scary. Am ambulance...
  17. I can sympathize. I was seeing a therapist because I had actually purchased liquid forms of food such as v8 juice and sustagen. It seemed that all food made me feel ill. Her advice was to eat the food I had been told i could eat (gluten-free low FODMAP diet, no bananas) while continuing to investigate further reasons for pain and gas. She said it was self...
  18. Hi. I live in Australia so I can't help you with most of these products. I was recently in USA and I found it really hard to eat - breakfast and lunch are the hardest. Most days I had a boiled egg and a tub of yogurt for breakfast. Thank goodness I like American coffee! In Australia we have rice crispies and corn flakes both of which are flavored with...
  19. Hey confused. I was diagnosed over a year ago and have been gluten-free since. It took months and months to feel much improvement, though the D reduced greatly. I am still really tired. It's 7pm and I am in bed! Do lots of tests and experiment with cutting foods out of your diet such as soy and watch lactose. Consider fructose malabsorption. I react really...
  20. Looks like fructose malabsorption and other food sensitivities. I too cannot eat bananas or fried eggs. I have been diagnosed with fructose malabsorption. Pineapple is on my list of foods I can eat. However apples, pears peas onion and more are on my do not eat list. Do you react to onion?
  21. Hi simona You asked how can dumping syndrome be diagnosed?I had a stomach emptying test where I ate a meal and I had X-rays of my stomach every 30 mins or so showing the contents of the stomach. A graph was produced showing that I have dumping syndrome. I later realized that the new anti-depressant I had just started probably caused the result. A bit stupid...
  22. Pre Coeliac disease I used to run about 30 km and cycle 100 km a week. Not bad for a 40 yo. Since getting celiac disease over a year ago I have slowly improved but I have daily pain of varying degree and fatigue also of varying degree. I struggle coping with a full day of work. Sorry that my story isn't reassuring but I get tired of reading lots of reports...
  23. Amberlink Have you been tested for fructose malabsorption? I have this. It was diagnosed by a breath test over a 3 period. I avoid a lot of fruit, veggies especially onions! The malbsorption creates lots of gas, causes pain and D (for me, but for others symptoms may be a bit different). I investigated fructose and lactose malabsorption when I wasn...
  24. Currently i am lying in bed on a work day feeling sorry for myself and worrying whether I can cope with my engineering job. I have been gluten-free for about a year and have had lots of days sick or working from home in my pjs. Am not sure how much longer I can keep my job. I am 41 yo and am on meds for blood pressure and depression. Both drugs have side...
  25. Thanks for the ideas TH. My main problem is that I just feel a constant pain that doesn't seem affected by food. It's an interesting idea to fast for a day though. Mind you, my psychologist wouldn't be happy! She and I are concerned I will slip into anorexia because of my fear of food. She has advised that I eat all foods I have been told i can eat and not...
