  1. flour, egg & water (you can find many, many recipes on the interwebs) i've gotten pretty good at it, so i just do it by eye. beat the daylights out of it, though, i put the egg into the flour and beat it up. probably for like, 10 minutes - then you put the water in a little at a time until it forms into a ball. i have a kitchenaid mixer and i just...

  4. if you want to have him tested or the doctor wants to do an endoscopy, you don't want to remove the gluten because it will skew the test. if gluten is an issue and he improves, it will be difficult to put him back on if you need to have testing done, for whatever reason. sometimes a diagnosis is helpful in managing school situations and some countries subsidize...
  5. what does that mean? this person has not even established that they have celiac disease.
  6. i picked up some of the plain yesterday. i can't remember what the price was, so it must have been not that expensive. they had it at the kroger beside the 'regular' instant oatmeal in the cereal aisle. i hope i can eat it (trying it again. it's been another year since i tried oats) (hi, simona! )
  7. our church has dinners/luncheons and at first, i skipped them. for, like, a year. it was just too painful/tempting now, i just make a big dish of something gluten-free and serve myself first (actually, i take some out before and take it in a separate container to bring with me) don't be tempted to go ahead and eat: i play the 'can't eat that' game...
  8. THAT IS GREAT, ADDY!! i feel the same way that you do: i always worked. i always made my own $$. i am feeling like i'm in-between (i babysit for everybody's kids *for free* so they can go to work) and it nags at me that i'm not making any dollhairs. i'm playing with a few ideas - i put some concoction i made in my hair last night that would work...
  9. i do not - i haven't been down there (been through there, but didn't stop to eat or hang out) since before my dx. many of us use the 'find me gluten free' app and look for favorable "celiac friendly" reviews. utc is down there, i would think there would be something safe... but, let us know how you do. i love the choo choo it's a cool town.
  10. he loads, i empty and he messes with me by jamming/wedging dishes underneath pots & pans in conjunction with the racks so that i can't get things out. he thinks it's hilarious. says he doesn't do it on purpose <but he totally does!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. lolz, lisa, that is totally gross! lolz - my ex mil used to cook for me, mostly eggs for breakfast, and i ate them dutifully. until i realized she NEVER cleaned the cast iron pan she made them in. EVER. she rinsed it out (it was greasy as all get out) and set it on the stove until next time. i swore off cast iron for a very long time because she convinced...

  18. i have a soy problem as well - i make my own bars, but i also can't do oats.. so it's chex to the rescue! and nuts and usually craisins and some 'enjoy life' chocolate chips <no soy or soy lecithin yay there are some good (easy) recipes on the interwebs. i just wing it. you can use corn syrup, honey, molasses, corn syrup, maple syrup, etc to make...
  19. they WERE in the pool................... (say in jason lee 'earl' voice> turns out, they hate chlorine! (actually, pretty sure they vamoosed as soon as we took the cover off) i didn't realize how foggy my brain was until it started to clear up. it manifested itself in Not Making Decisions = disorganization. if you know what i mean. i couldn...

  21. pretty sure the neighbors are gonna burn them out, lolz - no, they are not supposed to have it down there. the neighborhood association dbags, whom i do not associate with, are taking another land owner to court on the 30th about the same issue. we are curious as to how it will turn out. it would be different, i think, if they were actually enjoying the...
  22. it sounds like you are getting gluten from somewhere. have you switched your personal care products? ie: shampoo, soap, etc - anything that might run into your mouth in the shower needs to be gluten free. (lolz another lesson i learned the hard way )
  23. i went down there anyway. they are holed up in that thing with a generator running. my neighbors, who have already built and live down there, say they never come out except to go to work. i am all like wtf? hmmmmmmmmmmmm................ shall i wait, silently and patiently...........? we got an old saying down here: oh, HELL, no. vbs tonight...

  25. if you don't have symptoms, i guess you don't know? unless you go and get retested (which you're going to do) are you going for another endoscopy as well?
