				ARCHIVED Del Monte Canned Corn
notme replied to durrsakja's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i've used several different brands of creamed corn - just make sure to read the label very carefully. and, like kareng, i used it as a part of a recipe (georgia spoonbread - yumzza) not a big canned veggie fan, either. but i have never had a problem with canned fruits or veggies. (the less ingredients, the better) as long as i remember to read the labels -

notme replied to egger's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
i am four years into the gluten free diet and still have inflammation - it sounds like you have had a similar (misdiagnosed for decades) experience as i have (massive intestinal damage for years!) and i am still seeing improvement. my hair has stopped falling out and i now have thicker, healthier hair. take heart keep plodding along, i know, it takes... -

ARCHIVED Kraft Products ... I'm Shocked!
notme replied to becky-01's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
yep - on the 14th it will be one year since i was glutened. NOT by cheese or a kraft product or any grocery item i purchased in the store and read the label to check ingredients. it was from eating out. ONE YEAR. lolz, i must be so bad at keeping safe... that being said, i will put an item back if there are any ingredients i don't understand or... -

ARCHIVED "breaking Up" With Non-Celiac Roommates
notme replied to jessiej's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
i agonized over how i was going to tell my sister i was more comfortable staying at my bff's house instead of hers when i come to visit. i tried to break it to her gently, when she butted in and said: so, you are telling me you would rather stay at melanie's when you visit? i said yes, because it's easier for me to have the peace of mind (she still has... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Ebola - South Park Episode
notme replied to moosemalibu's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
(i like south park) (husband hates it) i'm sure they will butcher the subject, just like they do to everything else - i respect people's hatred of this show: it's pretty offensive. but, it's offensive to *everybody* (and i think it's hilarious but i am sick that way) they had me at 'underpants gnomes' lololz -

ARCHIVED Kraft Products ... I'm Shocked!
notme replied to becky-01's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i usually skip most of that stuff because of the soy or other ingredients that i don't eat. i think it's a cya statement, too. if it's not labeled gluten-free, then eat at your own risk? because, at their own admission, it's not been tested and/or some ingredients can't be verified. the stuff they sell that is gluten free is labeled gluten free... -
it's funny, because when i was first dx'd, everyone who didn't know much about celiac thought i had to eat a vegetarian diet. i was like: noooooo....... ? i had a 'not ideal' reaction to mayonnaise, (not anaphylaxic, though, ugh that must be terrible!) turns out i had a sensitivity to soy. and, some people are sensitive to veggies in the night shade...

my daughter was a server at 'b dubs' <buffalo wild wings) and when i went up to visit her, i asked about eating gluten-free there. she was like: "mooommmm! NOOOOOO!" lolz she worked at ruby tuesday, too, and i have eaten there safely <but, man, i dogged them!!) no dedicated fryer there, either
 -
nicole is right it's hard to pinpoint when you are sick all the time! give your diet time, keep a food journal (makes it easier to figure out what is bothering you/what you've eaten and when) i had trouble with raw foods in the beginning - until i started healing - and it took a long time to get some things 'back' - had to remove dairy for about 6 months...

				ARCHIVED Blood Test
notme replied to cindy27's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
since your blood test was positive, and false positives are not common, welcome to the best club you never wanted to join. you should continue to eat gluten until all your testing/scope is complete. your doctor probably wants to confirm your diagnosis with an endoscopy (they will take biopsies and send to be tested) and also to see how damaged your gut... -
that is a great attitude yes, for me it was a huge relief because i was losing weight so rapidly, i thought surely whatever was wrong was a serious (fatal) illness. so, telling me to eat gluten free was certainly healthier and far less harsh than, say, chemo. another added benefit (for me, anyway) was actually paying attention to what i was eating. ...

last night, we made cajun spiced fried shrimp with mango salsa, rice, and cole slaw <from garden cabbage. saturday, i had bought some boudin but i had no clue what to do with it. so, i made creole rice and stuffed peppers with creole rice, boudin, (boodan lolz how the heck do ya spell it) and jack cheeze. it was super yum. the hubs woofed it down... -
make your own and make a giant batch with extra to freeze, so next time your mom gets them, you can have some, too Open Original Shared Link or, if you're not that great in the kitchen, just get some ribs and throw some hoisin sauce on them & bake them (you know, always check your ingredients but i didn't have to look that hard to find hoisin...

patience was never my virtue, but it took a very long time and much vigilance to feel as well as i do now. my intestines were in pretty bad shape, i had no idea - some things that i couldn't eat before (for seemingly no reason and i was trying like crazy to figure it out) i can eat now with no problem. if you find a regimen diet that you can live with ...
