  1. lolz ! yeah, one box of the stuff lasts for ever....
  2. cream of rice: Open Original Shared Link don't hate! for us former farina (aka cream of wheat) lovers, this is a safe substitute. no cream, no wheat.... i eat it all the time
  3. what you are describing is an elimination diet - which is what is recommended at times when you (and all of us! lolz) can't figure out what we are eating that is making us miserable it's not extreme at all - make sure you keep a food journal (i don't know about you, but i can't remember everything i ate without writing it down) personally, i am leery...
  4. false negatives on blood test are *very* common. if you feel better off the gluten, no reason you need to eat it. just eat a clean, nutrition-filled diet and don't worry about it. honestly, i wish they would come up with a better test!! one you wouldn't need to be eating gluten to be tested accurately. that being said: i wouldn't go back to eating gluten...
  5. that's why i drink (lolz - j/k i got plenty o reasons why i drink) i used to have doozies of nightmares - always stuck away from home/on a trip and somebody does me a 'favor' and contaminates everything i can eat. they have since subsided to one good one every now and again - NOT every time i close my eyes like they were in the beginning adjusting...
  6. (O MY BOB THAT IS A SCARY AVATAR!! LOLZ!!) i have a 'misto' -- it's a sprayer/mister that you can put any oil into it that you want and you pressurize it by pumping it. got it at kroger, so it's not hard to find and it was about $10. it works pretty well and i think i'm going to get a second one (i have olive oil in the one i have, but i would like...
  7. i have done better with raw fruits and veggies with the help of digestive enzymes - in fact, i experimented with the right combination/timing of probiotics and digestive enzymes until i have it adjusted just right <for me, everyone is different. and this also might change as i continue to heal (yes, things are *still* improving!) for example: i...
  8. "don't worry, it's only probably forever" LOLZ
  9. i don't know enough about beer brewing, but it sure would be nice to even *hope* for a home brew or even small batch brewing to come up with something gluten free. (i know when people say microbrew, i just sigh and know there is nothing for me... ) so, if it improves BEER choices and options?? hell to the yeah!! thanx, jesse
  10. oops - i lied here it is in this thread - there are some other different ones you might like, too https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/36507-best-pie-crust/
  11. my go-to pie crust is the bette hagman recipe. i'm pretty sure it's in the recipe section here. it's easy, freezes well, and most importantly, it's yummy
  12. boy, that's tough! i have, literally, 8 different brands of bread in the freezer and all of them contain tapioca starch... i guess you could make your own - even if you aren't much of a baker, people aren't going to make a sandwich with it, just have to eat a little bit for each person, right? (i think all my bread recipes have tap starch in...
  13. last night we had a mexican (chuck it together lolz) casserole - i am digging the tortillaland fresh corn tortillas. they say to just 'dry fry' them, but frying them in oil is soooo much better. so, tortillas for the 'crust', refried beans, chicken, salsa, cheese, ta daaaa! and we had lettuce, sour cream & avocado on the side.
  14. justin's makes these awesome peanut butter cups - they still have soy lecithin but the milk chocolate ones don't bother me like m&m's do. they are deee-licious and have identifiable ingredients. i don't drink sody pop. yuck.
  15. i have to give him so much credit for yesterday, though: my sister-in-law dug through the ice tray with her hands and he gave me 'that' look. (she has a kid with a peanut allergy, so, throws a fit about anything nutty around her house, but i guess crumbs don't affect her.... bless her heart....) he knew all that ice was no good for me anymore. he's a...
  16. (i recently b!+Ched about this to the hubs so he got more diligent and i promptly gave him my cold. NOW i don't want him to kiss me because he has a cold and i'm better. plus, eww. he's got a cold) just tell him he can't win LOLZ just kidding. i have this same dilemma! he drinks beer and doesn't care what he eats <i don't either, except when...
  17. i think simona19 posted a challah recipe in the cooking/baking forum - i made it and it is delicious. on another note, i ordered a loaf of sourdough bread (shipping was more than the bread, though, from a maz on) but the bakery was called new grains and they are out of utah. it was just divine - i still have a few (ends) left for french toast for breakfast...
  18. this thread made me lol ! (sorry you're feeling sick, but) i have done this and then wondered hmmmm????? and felt pretty dumb. i ate a bunch of cannolis for breakfast one time before a trip to the beach two hours away by car. not cool....... (not gluten, either, just a bunch of dairy and soy <chocolate chips yummmmm) made a car full of people...
  19. great news! happy 1/2 birthday! it's so much better to feel so much better i am still seeing improvements and i bet you will, too!
  20. (runs to fridge and checks lactaid carton...! lolz) i avoid iodine, as well. i seem to do much better without too much. i still eat some fish, so i am still getting some, but i try not to take too much ibuprofen... seems to calm the itchies. it's like walking a tightrope sometimes, isn't it, squirmy? so much better than scratching your skin...
  21. read through this, it may help you to find where he may be getting gluten unknowingly https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ read around this forum, too. lots of info and maybe you can find someone who has similar issues.
  22. a gastro doc would be able to help you better if you think your son has celiac. my doc tests my vitamin levels at every visit (every 6 months) i never got any mouth sores, but i had dh <crazy itchy skin rash) and celiac presents itself at any opportunity, unfortunately. i used to have asthma, but it has settled down and my lungs are clear. only have...
  23. have you had his vitamin levels checked lately?
  24. i can't eat 'other' oatmeal (even certified gluten-free ) so, i had about given up on having it anymore. buuuuuuttt, i can eat this stuff, for whatever reason. i'm going to try 'other' oatmeal again but for now, this is my oatmeal go-to yay!!
