  1. yah, in the beginning, it was a hard lesson. we fought a little because it only takes one second to cc the whole meal (we don't have 'arguments' so when i am harsh, he hates it) stuff like toasting the buns on the gluten-free grill, double dipping spoons, and the story he likes to tell: "remember the time when i just walked in the door from hunting and...
  2. i guess if you had damage in your gut, they are looking to see if you are healing. if you don't have a perfectly healed gut, they will be looking for improvement/other causes. i don't know if your baby-making will be affected - i guess it depends on your body. dry skin/leg bruising improved for me once i was gluten free for about 8 months, i think, but...
  3. i bring food everywhere, and, ditto - never had to pull out my 'prescription note' lolz - usually, if i've never been there before, i ask if it's ok and i get somebody's name to drop at the door. i've brought my own beer into clubs and bars, too. i try to be discreet (until i get a good buzz on hahaha) if you need to call somewhere, and they start...
  4. i would *love* a snarky business card (ok. snarky anything.... )
  5. if it's something else that just didn't agree with me (i have a problem with soy, for example. i can tolerate a little, but too much will make my guts turn to goo) it's usually over pretty quickly. if it's lingering with other telltale symptoms, then i can expect it to last, like 12 more days... yay... i am sort of 'lucky' - i get that left side pain...
  6. my grandkids love to eat my gluten-free stuff!! i'm all like: GET YOUR OWN lolz - it's cool, except it gets expensive. i make them eat their gluten snacks outside if it's something crumb-y. the 10 is getting pretty savvy - he watches how careful pop pop is not to cc things. daughter and her sons are staying with us until she gets a place (OMGOSH...
  7. hahaha - this year i am cancelling thanksgiving...
  8. are you kidding, lolz, i even have a 'my poop is so nice' song husband: what are you so happy about me, singing: MY POOP IS SO NICE!! LA LA LA LA husband: you're so f*c%ed up. and i'm so happy for you... when you've had the big D for 2 years straight, rejoicing is permitted!!!! so glad your poop is so nice, too!!
  9. i had asthma for a long time. i smoke, so i chalked it up to that. 4 years gluten-free and it's pretty much gone. my mother died of lung cancer and never smoked a day in her life i had bronchitis and pneumonia on a regular basis prior to celiac dx. i haven't had to take any (ANY) antibiotics since i've been gluten free. i suspect you will...
  10. i bought those! then the website didn't say if it was dedicated, blah, so i just called to double check. and got their voicemail, then they called me back and got MY voicemail. twice..... i should have asked the question on the voicemail and they could have answered on my voicemail. anyways, i fed them to the grandkids and they love them, so i bought...
  11. ah, yes, this diet gives me a legit excuse to play with my food. which i love sometimes, i mix yogurt, almond butter, chex mix, honey, and pecans (plus sometimes chocolate chips) and eat it as a snack - it's really UGLY but delicious. plus, good for gaining weight
  12. leftovers!!!!!!!!!!! but this is what they are: turkey meatloaf w/cranberry mustard glaze mashed taters carrot 'coins' <as if haha and ravioli with parmesan cheese sauce belgian endive w/chopped lobster & blue cheese (broiled a little) i am an animal when it comes to seafood on sale get OUT da WAY oh, and i fixed up...
  13. sort of. but not. i understand what you mean, but the egg is already formed by the time they get to the 'exit' annnnd, just because this needs to be said: guess what???? chicken butt!!! (sorry lololz)
  14. exactly! plus, i had bacterial infections (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinus infection, etc) so many times, they gave me broad spectrum antibiotics, which kills *all* the bacteria - including the 'good bugs' that help to keep your gut nice and healthy. many of us take probiotics and/or digestive enzymes to help us re-populate the good bugs and to provide enzymes...
  15. i was very sick before being diagnosed, too. went to all kinds of doctors and kept adding foods to my 'no-no' list until i had hardly anything left to eat. because they *were* all bothering me because my intestines were so damaged. by cutting out the gluten, it has allowed my gut to heal and now i can eat many things that i previously couldn't. like...
  16. chicken feed goes through digestive tract of chicken. eggs come out of reproductive system. two different 'highways' which are not combined. y'all lost me on this one. except if maybe they don't wash them ? because, eggs are made from, well.... egg.... otherwise, my grandpa was right - feed the cows chocolate and they'll give chocolate...
  17. if you wish to present statements as fact, you need to provide scientific evidence of such. gleaning doesn't count. like it, don't like it. people come here looking for credible information. i am not 'perhaps wishing' - it is a board rule and you need to consider others.
  18. is that a quinoa brand name or a variation? yes, many people have tried quinoa i've used it as a barley sub for soup, but i hear it makes a tasty salad.
  19. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ yes, take an ibuprofen! if it says 'gluten free' on the package, it's safe to eat. and settle down - we all went through this panic read the above link. it should help you navigate better as far as what is safe and what to beware of. you can eat more things than you think it takes a little...
  20. mmmmmmmmmmmm..... sammich.......... i eat alot of sammiches - i like to consider, nutritionally, what i'm putting *on* the bread rather than the bread itself. the bread is simply a vehicle to deliver a plethora of vitamin rich goodness to my mouth hole :D
  21. lolz - in my mind, you are hopping on a scooter and shimmying-shaking to the store the other night i made: parmesan cheese sauce with shredded carrot, zucchini & garlic and i put it over ravioli <if there was ever celiac jail, they would be traded like cigarettes) no meat, therefore unacceptable to the hubs so i made it when he wasn't home...
  22. me too! lololz - i guess if the world ends, i'm going to alabama. i'll be safe there for another few years until they get the news........
  23. true dat! i used to make them go outside (any kind of weather, even at night) and run around the house 10 times if they couldn't stop arguing. the dreaded 'kick-out' lolz
  24. that s$#& is good on anything - so, yeah i hear ya, irish - *i* ruled with an iron fist - and they're good when their mother isn't here......
