  1. I ain't no expert, that's for certain. But I certainly see a connection with my acne and glutenings etc. Like someone above me mentioned, I had always been treated with a fairly severe case of acne. But I have a high sensitivity to a lot of topical products, so the treatment had to be very careful. I can't use most of the heavy creams used to treat acne...
  2. So last night, in an attempt to prove that I can make an apple something dessert, I looked up a recipe for apple crisp and then altered it to be gluten-free. (And I added a couple ingredients too) You guys probably have a recipe similar to this if not the same, but I wanted to share anyway. 6 Granny Smith apples. 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 tsp nutmeg ...
  3. Well I had a million and one Thanksgivings. The one I made went well which included the following, Curried Carrot Soup Cornbread stuffing Stuffed Cornish Hens (had a wild rice stuffing) Cranberry sauce made completely from scratch Cranberried Carrots Mashed Potatoes Gravy A mutilated apple pie (I am determined never to make pie again) The other...
  4. So basically I have been working my job for over a year now. And I am the only one in my position who knows every in and out of my job. People still ask me (including my now moving on to bigger and better things supervisor) how to do crap. A lot of the secretaries and such trust only me to do their work. But anyway, my supervisor is now moving on to become...
  5. Lostfalls~But instead of a powder? Does that really work? sa1937~ooh that is an excellent article. Thanks very much for that link!
  6. No worries, that's why we're here, we can help you get things sorted out. It's a lot to take in at first...
  7. As for dishes, I have only been married a year and a half and so we haven't even used all my dishes. So I did not get any new dishes yet. But like other's have said, you should replace anything that gluten can get stuck in. (It is nearly impossible to remove from such surfaces.) I myself requested a new toaster and new wooden spoons/spatulas for Christmas...
  8. So as many of you know, I am MOSTLY dairy free, but not entirely. But yesterday I felt so sick after eating a few dairy items (and they were only barely dairy...). I can't do it anymore... Dairy is OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So good bye dairy... Time to be more careful what I eat I guess.... PS are there dairy free chocolate chips and such out there? Butterscotch...
  9. So most of the reason I made a Thanksgiving dinner this weekend was so that I could have my own safe dinner at my parents house. Sure it was nice to have it with family too, but that was the real reason I did it. Now my mom is trying to make as many things as possible gluten free. But the fact of the matter is, they are still being made at the same time...
  10. That is so depressing! Whatever happened to the Christmas spirit? It ain't about the food for heaven's sake. It ain't about the presents. Its about the togetherness and the warm feeling you get when you give to others. And it is about Christ's gift to us, himself. I think maybe your family needs a little reminder of what Christmas is about. This is...
  11. Oh dear ravenous college freshmen boys... Good luck keepin your pantry full indeed. What is this Jewish Penicillin you speak of though? As for my gluten-free dinner last night, it was a big success... Except I undercooked the pie... oops. But everyone raved about EVERYTHING! And the cornbread dressing (something my family has never had) was the biggest...
  12. oops good thing I aint used my butterscotch chips! I swear I looked it up and it said they were safe on a list of Nestle products... but maybe I misread... Well time to toss those out.... Thanks for the heads up!
  13. Oh okay. I tried that and it seems to have worked... Cool! Thanks!
  14. So I mostly have figured out how to adapt recipes to a gluten-free version, but a lot of recipes call for dry milk.... what do I use instead, I prefer not to use dairy products in my bread.... HELP!!!!!!!!
  15. So I want to change my avatar... but when I upload a new avatar, it just takes the size of my photo and makes my previous avatar that size.... Why?
  16. and now for usin every dish I own....

  17. Loey~ Only mostly dairy free... but everythin I ave made for Thanksgivin is dairy free... As for my corn bread, I did te same as you but I kind of mixed two recipes... For te milk I used rice milk mixed wit a little cider vinegar which is the liquid another recipe called for. Beyond that I followed the box. (Cornbread turned out well too.) I cant wait to...
  18. yes gluten free cafe brand.
  19. Oh I had chicken noodle soup from gluten-free Cafe... SO YUMMY! But yeah I ended up telling my husband, "I am just gonna eat it. I don't care." But then when he handed it to me, I couldn't get it anywhere close to my mouth. So he made me soup instead. Thankfully we bought some other quick stuff that I knew was safe.
  20. Last time I skied.... probably about 10 years ago... Yes I have lived by the ski resorts for the past six years and never once skied, did more skiing out here when I lived in wash DC than I do now... But when I did ski I was told I was all right at it...
  21. So normally we shop at Whole Foods and I am finally getting used to buying stuff there and I know what I can and can't buy there. Well last night I realized the only food we had in the house was food we had designated as Thanksgiving dinner. So for the second night in a row, we went grocery shopping. But we instead went to our nearby Smiths. Its a really...
  22. *pulls out planbook* Karen in March sometime.... Ooh all those places are fun.... Lemme know where you end up and I will pull up a list of good places around there.... (Believe me I am trying nearly every gluten-free place I see and testing it...) And yes I really did right that in my planner... LOL
  23. Oh another suggestion I thought of, you should ask around and see what other gluten free people near you eat. And if you don't know any, you could try asking your local support group for a list of safe restaurants near you. I know my local support group has a list of restaurants on their website, and a lot of tips for eating out. But like I said before...
  24. All right anyday now, you know you will be up my way for skiing people. After all, everyone knows, skiing anywhere but Utah is blasphemy. Okay so maybe I am exaggerating. But anyway, for those of you ever planning on coming up my way skiing, we should all do a gluten free exchange or something. A meeting at a restaurant, book someplace and have a potluck...
  25. Loey~ Oh yes my cold is a lot better, thanks! And 7:30 MST. Feel free to bring something too! *chuckle* sb~Ooh excellent idea. I may have to do that at the rate my birds are dethawing.... (Apparently my freezer is really good at freezing things... I think I may have to have that checked into)
