  1. I thought it was good!
  2. Definitely have your immediate family tested...they have a 1 in 22 chance of having celiac disease b/c you do. (This stat applies to immediate family).
  3. Ha ha...well, we did take some pics on Saturday Lynne-I'll e-mail what my mom took--you need to e-mail the one you took of me. Maybe I'll switch avatars too...
  4. Its so funny how all of our tastes are different! I would definitely recommend people to try Vance's...and I did in this months issue of Natural Health mag. (Sorry--had to mention ; ) But to me, it has a very strong taste...something a little funky to me--an artificial something?? I think all the alternatives are worth trying, if you don't mind spending...
  5. I think she's busted for sure now !
  6. I tried it and to my taste buds, it tastes similar to a protein shake--the powder kind. I use Vance's to make "ice cream" and it works great. As for cereal/drinking, I use rice milk though. It has such a mild taste.
  7. Update if you're tuning in. As I thought, my celiac panel came back fine. So that is always a great thing--but doesn't bring me any closer to answers. I did, thank God, have a good appt with my hematologist. She is caring and takes time to really think through things and ask questions. Running some tests for other antibodies, infections, autoimmune issues...
  8. Anemia is one of the VERY common effects of Celiac. I was in the same situation. Props to your doc for testing you. It took me years of pills before I finally insisted to go to a hematologist, who in turn diagnosed me.
  9. i am going to see lynne tommorrow. maybe in a cruel twist i could take a picture of her and make it MY avatar !
  10. As was said here, I would 1. check your diet and verify everything is gluten-free and CC-free. 2. make sure your meds are gluten-free (as well as makeup, products) 3. evaluate the lithium--for some people it can cause naseau and d, especially in the beginning.
  11. Good way to sum it up !
  12. I sub sweet rice flour in a regular gravy recipe.
  13. Ooo, please do post more if you can Dh gets motion sickness , so no boating or deep sea fishing, which is a bummer, but I won't complain since he puts up with me! He does jetski though. So we thought about that or most likely kayaking too ! I found a place to rent them... Ever ck out any of the local malls? I saw the local outlet place has Le Creuset...
  14. That's hard... Telling her the truth in a graceful way is usually the best thing to do. What about still being friends, but letting her know you can't share in her food b/c _____ and that you will be providing your own ?
  15. Just read this today--on subclinical and unusual manifestations--or folks who don't have classic GI syptoms. Open Original Shared Link Villous atrophy is pretty darn specific to Celiac...maybe also with giardia (I think you'd know!) or a cow's milk intolerance (more rare response). Doctors are just now starting to realize that not all *Celiacs* experience...
  16. Ha ha I was really trying to take this seriously too !
  17. Yes...generally speaking. Here's a info below: Because the hormones in the ring are constantly being released into the body, less hormones are needed. In fact, the average levels of estrogen in the bloodstream is about 18 pictograms/milliliter (pg/ml) for the NuvaRing, whereas the estrogen level is at about 35 pg/ml for the average hormonal pill. These...
  18. Most of the studies I've read have suggested the same thing--a sweet spot to introduce gluten at 4 to 6mos...earlier or longer, appears to, at this point, only increase the chances of reaction.
  19. I also recommend the nuvaring. Less hormones than oral and goes right into the bloodstream...so you don't need to worry about missing a dose or something like antibiotics interfering with it.
  20. Jennifer-- Oh, and thanks for sharing that information too. Sometimes you never know.... !
  21. ha ha! anyone here ever seen "Along Came Polly?" "Shart" should be added to that list
  22. Thanks for the thoughts friends. Hopefully get my celiac disease panel results back today. I am also going to my hematologist and will present these ideas to her. Thanks!
  23. I was also going to mention diverticulitis, as you mentioned seeds being a main issue. Crohn's may be something else to explore, as it is associated with bleeding and several other issues, like fistulas, where food can get trapped and lead to infection, pain. Go see another doctor. Never accept an IBS "diagnosis" until ALL OTHER possiblities have been...
  24. Chicken Mole-yum! Refried beans, chicken sausage and salsa Spanish rice and beans Butter, cinnamon and sugar
  25. If you are recovering and your blood work is okay, you don't have to have an endoscopy. I choose to. I do recommend follow-up bloodwork each year indefinitely though.
