  1. I tested negative for Hashimoto's, although I am on thyroid medication for low thyroid. My ANA was positive, but the lab that ran the test did not give me a number, they just said it was positive. I am curious to know whether it was slightly positive, or extremely positive. My next step is to see a specialist to get tested for specific autoimmune diseases...
  2. I wanted to post my experience in case it might help others. I was diagnosed with gluten sensitivity last year, and started a gluten-free diet last October. Initially, I felt better, but soon after I was back to feeling bad again. I never got the digestive upset that is so common with gluten sensitive people, but my symptoms were constipation, awful...
  3. Hi, I am in the same boat. I have been gluten-free since last October, but I am sure I have food intolerances. Tried to do elimination diet twice, but I just can't stick to it! I am strongly considering going Paleo, but a "modified" version. I ate Paleo for several days last week, but was starving without a small amount of rice or white potatoes...
  4. I have the same thyroid book by Dr. Kharrazian, and it is fantastic! Just want to chime in with what everyone else said, which I agree with. My hair has been falling out pretty bad for several years now. I just went gluten free in October, and I am on thyroid meds for low T3 (which, according to Dr. K's book, I probably don't really need, but for now...
  5. I am trying to figure out my other food allergies as well, and it IS frustrating! I am off gluten, dairy, corn and eggs. A little soy creeps in now and then, mostly by accident, because soy is in everything. I don't get hives, but very bad brain fog and waves of exhaustion wash over me. Last night I had turkey sausage, potatoes and onions cooked in...
  6. That is unbelievable. And infuriating.
  7. I like Larabars and Kind bars also!
  8. First, I would tell the doctors that you are your children's parent, not them, and it is your job to protect them and do what is in their best interests. You are not changing their diet, end of story. Doctors do not know everything, and in my experience, they did nothing to help me heal, just wanted to give me drugs to cover up my symptoms. Second, there...

ARCHIVED Is It In My Head?

I agree with all of the previous posts, and I'm not sure I can add anything to what they already said. I too, have "been there, done that". I was given anti-depressants and Valium. Nice. Let's just mask all of the symptoms, and not look for the CAUSE of the problems. Seems to be that all doctors can do anymore is prescribe a drug. Like a previous...
  10. Yes! I hardly have any stamina at all. If I do exercise, it takes me a couple of days to recover like you said. I have been gluten free since October, but I am now in the process of figuring out other food sensitivities. Could you have other allergies that are making you feel bad? Also, my ferritin levels were extremely low, and I am in the process of...
  11. That is drastic, but I'm glad it worked for you! I love homemade chicken soup, so I might try something similar, but I think I would have to add some rice just to have some carbs. Thanks!
  12. Thank you both for your feedback! I really appreciate hearing about your experiences. I will keep you all posted on what works for me, and maybe that info will help you in some way. I have learned SO MUCH from this site in such a short time, it has been so helpful!
  13. I tried to do an elimination diet about a month ago, and it was so hard to do around the holidays with traveling, parties, eating out, etc, that I just couldn't do it. It is hard enough not eating gluten! So, now that Christmas is over, I am going to try again. I have been gluten free (and somewhat dairy free) since October, but I really think I have other...
  14. My doctor suggested alternating between Theralac and TruFlora. I take the Theralac one day on an empty stomach, then the next day I take TruFlora on a full stomach. They did make my stomach upset at first, but now I am used to them. I have been taking them for a few months, but I have to admit, I do forget to take them sometimes. I am not sure if they...
  15. Ditto. I take a compounded thyroid med equivalent to one grain of Armour.
  16. WOW! Congratulations!!! Good for you!!
  17. I take sublingual B-12 (along with other things already mentioned on this thread) to help with anemia.
  18. Thanks guys! I appreciate your feedback. This is a new job for my husband, and a new friendship with his boss and wife. I guess it is better to be firm about this from the start, and then in the future there won't be any confusion
  19. I am having a fatigue reaction today as well, but I am not sure if it is from corn or from yeast. I had some gluten free tortillas yesterday, and some gluten free baked goods with yeast in them.
  20. My blood tests showed up negative, and my endoscopy showed up negative too. It was through a stool analysis that I found I was highly intolerance to gluten. My inflammation was off the charts. I agree that trying a gluten-free diet is a great idea. I hope it works!
  21. Yes, I had an endoscopy in September, and it took several days for me to get rid of that "tired" feeling. Sometimes it takes a while for the sedation drugs to fully leave your body. Maybe it is taking longer this time than last time! If you don't feel better soon, maybe you should call your doc.
  22. My husband's boss invited us to his home this weekend for a holiday lunch. It is really nice of him and his wife to have us over, but I am not sure how to tell her that I want to bring my own food. We went to their house for the first time over the summer, and I had called her in advance to tell her that I had celiac and couldn't eat any bread, pasta, etc...
  23. I totally agree with the above. I am so sorry you are going through this, I had a similar experience!! NO doctor would listen to me, and they made me feel like I was nuts. But, when I found the right doctor (not easy to do), I was able to get on the correct T4/T3 combo and I am feeling so much better. My anxiety went from a 10 to a 2. I hope your...
  24. Wow, that is great to know! I used to love their food before I was diagnosed, but have not been back since. I love Maggiano's too! Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
  25. Thank you for all of your responses! I will try the elimination diet, but it is tough to do with 4-year olds! I thought I could do a blood test, and find out quickly what the problems were, so as not to needlessly remove common food from their diet, but it really seems like the elimination diet is the way to go.
