    ARCHIVED Wow Im In Trouble

Despite the bizarre turn this thread has taken we're pulling for you MSFL. Some of us have been in your shoes and survived. This is happening for a reason that is not clear right now. Keep going and it will get better.
  2. Looking good Nini.
  3. I have a friend with and 8 year old autistic son who was basically non-functioning and would become extremely violent. I have seen him in this violent state and it was like nothing I had ever seen before. She put him on a gluten/casien free diet and within two days he was a completly different kid. He can now function and interact with people on a basic level...
  4. Looking at your diet it seems to me that you should eat less carbs and add more protien. As a former heavyweight myself I find that more protien takes longer to digest and provides more sustained energy. Even good carbs like fruit will produce an insulin spike and I will lose energy if I don't eat protien along with it. Green veggies like raw broccoli and...
  5. No way would I take a pill. The gluten-free diet is the best thing that ever happened to me. The problem with a pill is that the side effects would probably be worse than the disease itself. If you read the labels on a lot of pills they usually have a list of side effects a mile long. What kind of cure is that?
  6. My dad and brother have the same symptoms that I did but don't seem to interested in changing.
  7. Whole Foods is supposed to start selling gluten-free beer in a month or so. They wouldn't give me any more information than that because the deal isn't quite done.

    ARCHIVED Wow Im In Trouble

Celiachap is being way out of line here. No immigrant bashing either. My girlfriend is from Norway and has lived here for 35 years working and paying taxes like the rest of us. MSFL I have walked in your shoes. I did not have many gut problems but the brain fog nearly destroyed everything. Use this time to heal and it will get better. It takes time and...
  9. There is a very large drug company in the city I live in and just about everyday there is an article in the local paper about jobs cuts and decreasing profits in the drug industry. This company is the largest private employer in the city so it is a real big deal here.
  10. I never had any reaction from quinoa but it is gross so I don't eat it. I read on a quinoa package that the plant produces a soap like substance as a natural insect repellent and can have a bitter taste.
  11. It wouldn't hurt to see a specialist if you are continuing to have problems. In your case there is obviously more than gluten, soy and lactose going on.
  12. The word is getting out. Look at how many people belong to this forum now. I think people are finally beginning to wake up to the fact that taking 20 pills a day is not the key to good health. Drug companies are not making the money they used to and hopefully we are a big part of the reason why.
  13. My ex-wife used to throw a fit about the diet because I never got tested so I sent her packing and got divorced. My girlfriend has absolutely no problem with it and has gone gluten-free herself. If you feel better on a gluten-free diet then what more do need to know? It is your body and it is your responsibility to take care of it. If others have a problem...
  14. I was obese before going gluten-free but I am now at a healthy weight and actually have abs. Not exactly abs of armor plated steel but close enough. Much better than big rolls of fat. The weight came off fairly quickly for me. I have to really watch what I eat to maintain the proper weight but that is a small price to pay.
  15. I'm with Vydorscope on this one. I got one as a gift a few years ago and found it to be more trouble than it was worth.
  16. I used to have all kinds of sleep problems but after nearly two years I rarely do. Melatonin helps when I can't get to sleep.
  17. I was at Whole Foods today and they are planning on getting gluten free beer in about a month. They wouldn't say what brand because it is not a done deal. I feel like a kid waiting for Santa Claus.
  18. I am coming up on two years mostly gluten-free, one year totally gluten-free and for the past couple of months I feel 100% healthy. I was one of the super-heavy weight celiacs. It felt so good to lose that weight.
  19. I want a De-Dumb@assinizer to get rid of all the dumb@asses in my life.
  20. I always tell these kind of whack-jobs this, "Did it ever occur to you that the gluten-free diet is the answer to my prayers? I am really quite thankful that all I have to do to be "healed" is to avoid certain foods. It really could be much worse." Usually they are quite dumbfounded by this response.
  21. Prior to going gluten-free my sense of taste and smell would be either too sensitive or non-existant. Now both seem to work the way they are supposed to.
  22. Dangerous Grains is far and away the best book to read.
  23. I agree with Ursula about the Dangerous Grains book. After reading that I had absolutely no desire to eat anything made with wheat ever again.
  24. Easily more than 30 doctors and not one of them ever suggested gluten or a dietary problem. All they wanted to do was write prescriptions and lots of them. I had to diagnos myself.
  25. Avacados, mmm, eat them all the time the squishier the better. I can't have soy in large quantities. Aspertame really makes me sick but Splenda is okay. Citrus makes my guts churn and apples go right through me.
