  1. I am a male and my complaints about my health were completely ignored by doctors. All they would do is write me a dozen or so prescriptions each time and say, "One of these might work." The doctor issues are just as bad on this side of the gender fence.
  2. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  3. I have been there and all you can do is try. My wife left me because men are not supposed to get sick and I couldn't take care of her. Uh, yeah, this is the 21st century right? Turns out I was far better off without her and have thanked her for leaving me. I hope you can turn things around.
  4. I noticed a big improvement once I went gluten free. Stamina and many other improvements were noticed. My girlfriend was very happy. I don't think I can go into details on this forum.
  5. This is the kind of thing you just can't make up. For a person with celiac this is a horror that even the most twisted mind could never conceive of.
  6. Stick to the basics like fruit, vegetables and meat for now. It is more cost effective and you get more nutritional bang for the buck. The processed gluten free stuff is expensive so I don't buy too much of that. I spent 36 years in a gluten induced brain fog comatose like state. It cost me my marriage and almost destroyed my career. It's been five years...
  7. Your's is a familiar story. I went through all of that but was twice your age when I found out what was wrong. The first 36 years of my life are like a big black hole of nothiness. Now that you know what is wrong I can assure you that things will get better, much better. My life now is like nothing I could have ever imagined and it just keeps getting better...
  8. Janetw - Thank you for the link. Mommida - Michigan is an absolute disaster area right now and I don't see how this state will ever recover. It is going to end up becoming a low rent economic backwater. The only job opportunities I can find are in the South. I still have my current job and am only working every other week though. My brother was just told...
  9. I am about 99% certain I will be moving to Birmingham later this year to start a new job. I would like to know how readily available gluten free foods are and where to buy them. I used to travel to Huntsville a lot with a previous job and liked it there a lot. Any gluten free requests were readily accomodated. It was when I asked to hold the salt is when...
  10. When you get sick you find out real quick who your real friends are. The good thing is you end up making better ones. My wife divorced me but I ended up dating her best friend (now ex-best friend) for three years.
  11. I was once morbidly obese and can say that weight loss doesn't happen quite the way you would expect. There would be times when I would lose a lot of pounds but my body stayed the same shape. Then there would be times when my body would change drastically but no pounds came off. I started excersizing a lot and I reached a pont where my body got smaller and...
  12. It depends upon how sick you were. It took me two years before I stopped needing a three hour nap everyday. I was already half-past dead when I found out I had celiac. Take a good multi-vitamin and minerals. Exercise helps a lot. I hate doing it but I feel like crap if I don't.
  13. Just be glad it's not chipmunks. I had four of them in my attic over the summer and they were not easy to get rid of.
  14. Been there. My wife filed for divorce becuse I was too sick to take care of her. Men aren't supposed to get sick. I almost lost my job because of it. The only thing that saved me is the company I worked for at the time was so poorly managed that I was able to squeak by. When the management situation was changed I had found out what was killing me and was...
  15. Deb, This is probably difficult for you to understand because you are very much the exception rather than the rule. Most women are conditioned to live wasteful, extravagent and consumerist lifestyles. Achieving social status is the #1 goal for most women. As a man who makes a very large income and back in the dating scene the gold diggers have come out...
  16. Thanks everyone.
  17. I am not able to participate very much because I got healthy (thanks to this forum) and was able to start a new life. I was days away from getting fired from my previous job and found a new one that pays a six figure salary. Of course that means I work 60-70 hours a week but I am healthy enough and grateful enough for a second chance to do that. 2008 looks...
  18. It is like an out of body experience. I can see and hear everything that is going on around me but am completely unable to connect with reality.
  19. Trader Joe's has some gluten free jerky but not all flavors are. However they clearly label what is and isn't gluten free.
  20. Yeah right.
  21. In the 90's the writing was really dumbed down and poorly done. The artwork changed and was also poorly done. Prior to the 90's comic book writers and artists had a real passion for their craft but that has sadly disappeared.
  22. I like the comics from the 70's and 80's. In the 90's the comics changed and I just didn't care for them anymore. In the early 90's there was a Saturday morning animated X-Men series that was excellent and I never missed it. A few years ago there was another animated X-Men series that was terrible. The three movies were quite good. I didn't have any particular...
  23. I am a mechanical engineer/project manager for a company that makes machines for the fiberglass industry. Prior to that I was an engineer for a heavy equipment manufacturer. I am also a single parent with an 11 year old son. X-Men Rule!

    ARCHIVED Brainfog

It is like an out of body experience. I can see and hear everything that is going on around me but I am completely unable to connect with reality. The scariest times were when I was driving. It is a miracle I didn't kill somebody. It has been 2 1/2 years since I experienced brain fog and wouldn't wish it upon anyone.
  25. I'm not buying any of this. After gluten nearly destroyed my life it will never touch my lips again.
