ARCHIVED Problem Going gluten-free
GlutenGladi8or replied to JSegura226's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I should have posted earlier about water consumption and perhaps I would have saved you a trip to the ER While you are drinking the recommended amount of water, please ask your primary care physician if you can take gluten-free supplements as well. Here's my short list, but make sure you get the green light from him: - Milk Thistle (cleanses the... -
I'm catching the EuroStar from London to Brussels two weeks from tomorrow. How psyched am I that they actually have a gluten free option that I just posted below? ------------------------ Special meals When booking Business Premier or Standard Premier we’ll ask you to tell us if you have any specific dietary requirements. You’ll be able to choose fro...

ARCHIVED Problem Going gluten-free
GlutenGladi8or replied to JSegura226's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Let's not talk eating right now, let's talk drinking (now that you are embarking upon the gluten free lifestyle) With that said, your system is in serious need of a flush. Now, I know this might sound like a lot but, try and drink 80+ ounces of water throughout the day. Here are some hints that will make more water consumption easier: - Add one... -

I know that you said you live in Canada, and that their are dozens of Costco's there. Do you have a membership? Please advise (it will work here) and I'll give you a complete list of what to buy. There's not one in Anaheim (where Disneyland is located) but Fullerton & Garden Grove have one. Secondly, hit Trader Joe's in the nearby cities close to... -

The UK has such great retailers (M&S, Tesco, etc.) that have an abundance of beef, pork and lambs. Not to mention all of the great seafood from the north Atlantic. My suggestion to add a LEAN animal protein to everyone of your meals. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner). And from my visit to the UK in January, the aforementioned retailers deals on all of... -

Amen Trish! And although I have worked in the organic food business for 10+ years, being a Celiac has helped me EVEN better. -

ARCHIVED Controversial Facebook Post By Chef
GlutenGladi8or replied to idonteatwheat's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
With all of the snow we have been getting in Colorado lately, I may just need to pay a personal visit to our friend when I hit the mountains this weekend. Maybe even get him to say something on my camcorder. Stay tuned. -

GlutenGladi8or replied to idonteatwheat's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Perhaps if he is a disbeliever in the effects that gluten/wheat has on us Celiacs, then we can set up a test as HIS house. He can observe our behaviors first hand. Oh and yes, dear chef, this IS a recipe for a lot of clean up that will prove our point. -
ARCHIVED Kirkland Products
GlutenGladi8or replied to AmyNColorado's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The Arvada Costco had it in the frozen section this past Saturday (2 pack). From my understanding (from the actual buyer at Costco) is that Rudi's is in ALL buildings in this particular region (CO, NM, AZ, UT, NV,& San Diego region). I can get you the item number when I get home tonight and you can bring it up to the manager. -
ARCHIVED Kirkland Brand Fruit Spread
GlutenGladi8or replied to salexander421's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No problem. Costco is TOPS when it comes to customer service. In the future, if you have questions, feel free to call their 800 number (1-800-774-2678) and they will answer any and all questions. Just make sure that you look above the UPC code and provide the person with the actual item number. -
ARCHIVED Kirkland Brand Fruit Spread
GlutenGladi8or replied to salexander421's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Take it from someone who actually supplies Costco with food items. Some of the more successful Kirkland brand items have been in the buildings for years (some instances DECADES). They approved the artwork that long ago... before there was so much attention on gluten intolerant and celiacs like us. My guess is that is the reason why it's not labeled gluten... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Runner In Training For Marathon
GlutenGladi8or replied to sydneysmommy's topic in Sports and Fitness
Sometimes some self deprecating humor can help... so here goes. Before I was diagnosed with Celiac disease, I had the same issues with running. Thankfully, we get somewhat of a notice when the gut issues are about to hit or the "dam is about to give" but it usually is only about 15-30 seconds. So, I used to run on the path on the beach in California... -
ARCHIVED Carnivor Beef-Based Protein Powder
GlutenGladi8or replied to Philadelphia's topic in Sports and Fitness
When it comes to protein powders or even food... less is more. Opt for the least amount of ingredients. And, if there is some sort of chemical/additive/binder/extender that you have NO idea what it is... put it back on the shelf. Good luck! -
ARCHIVED Carnivor Beef-Based Protein Powder
GlutenGladi8or replied to Philadelphia's topic in Sports and Fitness
Don't discount a good carb bulk about 45 minutes prior to a work out. I opt for gluten free oats + fresh blueberries/raspberries + teaspoon of PURE maple syrup. About 15 minutes after you eat that, hit the pre-work out protein shake. And then....... (RRRrrrrrrooaaaarrrr!) Where are the free weights! LOL -
ARCHIVED Carnivor Beef-Based Protein Powder
GlutenGladi8or replied to Philadelphia's topic in Sports and Fitness
Good insights on fat and FRESH PRODUCE (unprocessed and preferably all natural). And, don't discount the awesome frozen fruits and vegetables as well. What a lot of people don't understand is that you need fat to build muscle. It's true. That's why I try to eat a little more fat in the winter and then go lean, lean, lean just as the winter is starting... -

PS - Don't forget to load up each meal with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Also, add some good gluten-free carbs (organic brown rice, quinoa, black beans, etc.) with each meal. -
ARCHIVED Carnivor Beef-Based Protein Powder
GlutenGladi8or replied to Philadelphia's topic in Sports and Fitness
Although I really like gluten-free protein powders (before/after workouts & during the day), don't rely on shakes to provide the building blocks for muscle growth. Instead, make sure that you are getting LEAN animal protein with every meal. Examples: Breakfast: Egg white omelet with an all natural chicken sausage (less than one gram of fat) ... -
ARCHIVED Substituting Bad Foods For Good Foods
GlutenGladi8or replied to yogismith's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
We all are born with a sweet tooth. You just need to feed that "tooth" something sweet without the aforementioned High Fructose Corn Syrup or even sugar. Here are some suggestions for snacks that can be substituted for candy, but still taste sweet: - Dried mangoes (no sugar added) - Fresh blueberries - Non fat Greek yogurt (fruit variety) - Pomegranate... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Sausages?
GlutenGladi8or replied to WinterSong's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a near and dear friend who is a buyer at Sam's Club. Years ago, I convinced him to add "Gluten Free" to the label of all of their Member's Mark chicken sausages. So while shopping at Sam's, rest assured that if their packages say "Gluten Free" they are indeed safe. (Not to mention the fact that most of the chicken sausage links have less than... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Beer That Tastes Like Beer - Telegraph-Journal (registration)
GlutenGladi8or replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity

ARCHIVED Kirkland Products

AmyNColorado.... my fellow Colorado carnivorous friend: I literally buy both of those on my near-weekly Costco shopping trips. Rest assured, they are 100% gluten free. I also wanted to let you know that one of the senior buyers in our Costco region is gluten intolerant. We have an ally in our court! In fact, she was personally responsible for bringing... -
