    ARCHIVED Chest Pain

I get this. I have been getting it my whole life - I can remember being about 8 and having an "attack" of it and freaking myself and my parents out because I thought I was having a heart attack. Mine don't last for days, just usually a few minutes, though the last one (which was within the last month) lasted for a couple of hours. I kept trying to breathe...
  2. frenchiemama - I really kind of didn't want to post my experiences because they have not been that encouraging. And I really don't want to scare anyone. But I guess my desire to see if anyone else reacts to miniscule amounts of gluten, as I seem to, reflects anyone else's experience. Would make me feel a little better, I guess. It could be that there is...

    ARCHIVED Eggs

Ha ha! I love Cadbury regular cream eggs.... There must be something about boiled/deviled versus fried/scrambled. That is the defining line for me. If the egg is cooked within its own shell, it is fine with me. It's just when it's cooked outside its shell that I may not tolerate it... Stephanie
  4. Hi Cleveland Bob or anyone else - I have a question about white fish allergies (if you know...) What fish are considered "white fish"? I keep trying to find info on the web (google.com) and getting sites about cat food and cat allergies. I guess it's the same info and I AM a major cat lover but wouldn't mind any info that points me in the proper direction...
  5. Congratulations! That is awesome! Stephanie
  6. I don't mean to be a downer, but I have been diligent about letting the waiter/manager/whomever know what's going on and still get glutened almost every time I go out. I have been diligent about my food being prepared in restaurants for 6 years now, since I found out about my first food intolerances, so I'm not shy about it. I have gotten glutened the last...
  7. celiac3270 - good job on posting informatively over on curezone.com. I was checking it out today and saw your posts! Cool! If you help even one person who might have taken that stuff as gospel, you have done them a great service. Stephanie
  8. Thanks, Julie! It's a picture from a card my husband gave me for my birthday a couple of years ago and it always makes me want to laugh. I used to have a cat who would ride around on my shoulders as a kitten, and when he finally grew to 16 pounds he would *still* do that. Was a funny sight! Stephanie
  9. I'm 5'10". I wanted to be 6' - odd goal... My brother who has similar health issues is 6'4". My dad, who I suspect gave me the neurological gene is 6'5". My mom, who would have given me the stomach gene is 5'8". We are all pretty tall. Stephanie

    ARCHIVED Eggs

I have times where I crave eggs and others when I can't stand the thought of them. Boiled eggs are usually ok for me, mayonaise has never been a problem. But scrambled or omlettes sometimes are really off-putting, also coddled (in a porcelain coddler, cooked in boiling water) will turn me off as well. Sometimes it's the combo of mushrooms and eggs - just...
  11. I myself have had some bad experiences lately and am not jazzed on eating out but there are three places in town I trust - 2 sushi restaurants and one is the BBQ at my health food store - they see me coming and know what they can make me. I think it takes baby steps. Maybe find one likely place you think you'd feel comfortable eating at or talking with...
  12. Another thing is people often think that Intolerant is less than Celiac - meaning not as problematic. But this does not appear to be true. Celiac, as in affecting the gut, is now being considered the "tip of the iceburg" when it comes to gluten intolerance, and that there are many other problems coming of gluten intolerance; such a neurological conditions...
  13. I've read through there before and been discouraged. There is some good info on curezone.com but the part on Celiac - not good or informed at all. The person on there who swears she's been cured - it could be that she isn't reacting in a noticable way for her right now - she did some really radical diet things - but that doesn't mean she's not doing damage...
  14. Beverly - you are KILLING me! Tonight, when I get home, I just know I'm going to look at my sofa and start laughing. It's even possible that for the rest of my life, when I think of poop humor, I'll think of you. In a fond way... Thanks for brightening up this thread!!! Stephanie
  15. I don't have any malabsorption, nor do I have either of the two known Celiac genes but gluten makes me SICK!!! I had tests through EnteroLab and even was a high "normal" (9, <10 is normal) for antibodies, so even there it appeared I don't have a gluten problem. But I had been gluten free for a while and when I recently questioned this again, Dr. Fine ...
  16. I haven't tried many but I hear the Chebe one is awesome. I really like Namaste - it doesn't have any potatoes in it which is important for me. I made my first one a couple of months back and a friend was over - looking hungerly at my newly made pizza. I warned him it wasn't the usual crust but he had some and thought it was great! I was pickier about it...
  17. I wanted to fall off of my chair but my back is funky and I was practical about the whole thing and controlled myself... so I simply got up and lay down on the floor and rolled around... OK, so you caught me, I didn't do that at all but I REALLY wanted to! And I did curse like a boat of drunken soldiers! (oh, yeah, at about that time an email went out...
  18. At this point in the thread I am laughing my butt off, rolling on the floor and cursing like a boatload of drunken sailors. This stuff is pure poetry! It is so difficult to know how someone is coming across online - it's difficult enough to figure that out face to face. I think for the most part this is a really friendly and helpful board. I hope...
  19. I hope that helps. It's funny, some doctors aren't all that big on progesterone cream - maybe because it's an over the counter thing, not a prescription (though you can get it Rx). But I have been having trouble the last year with bladder infections - that weren't actual infections, just felt like it. Was happening around the time I would be ovulating. I...
  20. Yep - I've not heard anyone mention the cost of one but it's enough to put me off. If it was covered, I'd probably do it. But no way - my insurance (ha-ha, I typed "unsurance"!!!) is bad enough. I don't need any more convincing at this point. I hope I'm on better insurance when I'm 40 (I'm going to be 34 next month so I have a ways to go) as about then...
  21. You guys are THE BEST! Seriously - if I'd had a group I could write into years ago and get support like this, I'll bet I wouldn't have sunken as low as I did back then. I'm feeling really good today - after all that I had a really great weekend, went on a long bike ride (first time this year), went to the farmers market, saw a great movie (Hitchhikers...
  22. I have the most horrible time with periods. I have read that gluten intolerance often results in loss of periods - not for me! I have everything, the cramps (horrible!) the moods (also horrible!) and often fairly irregular. I was on the pill for 13 years but don't need to be on it as my husband has had a vasectomy so I thought I'd get off the pill three years...
  23. Thanks Beverly and Nisla! I am fine again, thankfully!!! It's amazing to read what has been written to this thread - you really feel like you're the only person who knows exactly what it feels like to be depressed like that - and then you find out others have felt the same exact way. It's really surprising! I too think I had depression most of my life...
  24. Thanks Michelle! I ended up going home a little early as I had a small migraine and a little stomach upset - was afraid it would get worse. But fortunatly, it didn't. I am pretty much over the emotional part - THANKFULLY!!! Now I'm on to odd joint pains. Last night we went to a movie and I noticed my knuckles on two fingers in my right hand were...
  25. Oh Michelle - that is so totally sweet of you. Made me cry (uh, totally easy target right now!!!) when you wrote If that doesn't sum it all up.... My husband is really sweet about it but just doesn't help. He either hasn't felt this way or doesn't express it this way. Last night he was saying, "sure, I get depressed, and I feel this way...etc etc...
