oh you know me, I like to keep my ranting to a bare minimum...I mean, what's the point, really? It won't make that tomato any more friendly. Bitchy tomato. -

oh dear..I'd be the size of a baby grand piano if that happened here. I got this wonderful cilantro plant at the farmer's market, so I am thinking about making Lime cilantro rice and chicken and mushroom quesadillas (sans salsa for me) Just a mini rant here: why? why can't tomatoes and I get along? this guy >>> should take... -
ARCHIVED Jennifer's Way Breads!

I thought about this a bit more after you PMed me with your thoughts....and I guess what you are saying is: you may not like way the message is delivered, but you still appreciate the message? What readers of the thread can't see is that Jules wrote a really angry reply that was deleted afterwards. I do not see it here anymore. You also have... -
ARCHIVED Jennifer's Way Breads!

There is no manual for celiac. There is only advice and support from fellow celiacs, some excellent books and celiac disease centers as resources. No one makes anyone feel "stupid" here, Beth. This is disturbing to me to read. Where did you get that impression? We support everyone who walks in the same shoes. And you are correct about this... -
you know, Ski...some women say they are "less gray" after Dx and I think that's fascinating. That their re-growth is slow is very interesting to me.. I wish I could say the same. I started going gray in my 30's, like my mother, my sister and every other female in my family. Ah well, I enjoy my stylist Marshall's stories at the salon (his mom is a celiac...

too late.... Now I have an image of us all .. like a pounded piece of veal being coated in flour, dipped in egg and made into veal piccata.

lol No, I know what the words "systematically" and "in great quantities" means what I am not sure of is how gluten could possibly be administered "in great quantities" via the skin into open lesions. seems strange...Someone is going to roll around in wheat flour? How is that possible since the gluten molecule is too large to pass through skin? I...

Jamie, that looks just like you!! . I have used this one for me. Because she looks just like me. Glad you got eggs back!! whoohoo! -
I have never seen any myself but I think this is significant....he says "systemically in great quantities "...I don't know what that means really...how would that even happen? That's a question for Dr, Fasano, I think.

That's weird. What motel chain is that? I would think all have them by now. -
ARCHIVED Jennifer's Way Breads!
IrishHeart replied to user001's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think you mean yeast-free bread. I think Jennifer omits yeast. You were a bit "meh over the small selection"? well, many people are grateful to have a selection at all. She works hard to put out safe items and I happen to know the struggle she has had to keep the place running while she recovers from celiac damage herself. But I digress. I know you... -

Your test results look normal to me, but Frieze makes a good point..were you still consuming gluten when you were tested? -

Honestly, unless you were staying in the room the entire time with the crock pot watching it yourself, I would think that yes, that is a potential hazard for the hotel. Sorry, but I don't think they were irritated because the smell was tantalizing them... I think they were worried about the liability aspect. -
ARCHIVED Cooking On The Road
IrishHeart replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I have never had to worry about eating safely on the road. You can bring already cooked hard boiled eggs. Sandwiches, fruits, cut up veggies, peanut butter, yogurt, etc. I have traveled over 9000 miles in the last 3.5 years since DX and I bring all sorts of food with me. Invest in a Koolatron cooler. They are GREAT! You can micro many things at hotels... -

Goat cheese is da bomb. Yes, raspberry or fig jam is great paired with it...spread on a garlic crostini ,,yum! Or make crostinis, spread soft creamy goat cheese and top it with roasted, julliened red, yellow and green peppers in a balsamic, EVOO herbed marinade...you'll be in heaven. I have to get you down here and make you eat things. -
This is why I always say...do what's best for you.

I am thinking about making this today (but in 2 boules, not the loaf) as I am feeling like I need something "bready". http://www.livingwithout.com/recipes/hawaiian_sweet_bread-2561-1.html After 4 weeks, I have lost a grand total of.........4 lbs. Like everything else with my recovery, I guess I am the tortoise in the weight loss department too.... -
Yes. The only mention is "Hydrolyzed wheat" which is not an issue in topical products for people with celiac. You are not eating it. Don't use it if you are worried about it, but it never bothered me. The experts say this(below) but again, if it bothers you, don't use it. Several celiac experts (Dr. Peter Green - Celiac Disease Center at Columbia...
