The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Got one here ,too, MW. I sneak them in by braising them with bacon, shallots and some sherry, broth and herbs and chestnuts when we can get them. I do not get it; he likes cabbage enough. I love them! I love swede, too. In fact, I never met a cruciferous or root veggie I did not like. I'm making: Quinoa stuffed peppers tonight... -

well, I do have to travel an hour to see him, but not as far as NV. thank heavens. (you're still there, right? not NZ) Okay, if I get to it first, I'll let you know--and vice versa, deal? -

just now, I was outside trimming back perennials and I squatted down to pick up the cuttings and thought of YOU. -
ARCHIVED Spicy World Of Usa - Nuts!
IrishHeart replied to GottaSki's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So sorry, honey. FWIW, I have called a company and asked BEFORE eating their products and they assured me it was safe (wheat is not processed in the same facility --but could not guarantee what the source for all materials was---and if they did share lines, they run the gluten-free ones first on Monday and clean them thoroughly) Now, I did not... -
Really? None of us can know how someone actually feels and you are just playing semantics here. I have tried to help everyone see all sides and many of us have tried to help the OP figure out what reasonably may have made her ill so she could avoid it in the future. That's what motivates me to reply in threads, to try and help, not to attack or argue...

Okay, now I have a visual of your mum doing her business in the garden and your friend doing hers on the floor. -

A squatty potty? Seems to me you could just put a small step stool in your bathroom and elevate your knees a bit to get the same angle.... yes? Many cultures "squat" to eliminate waste. And this works, provided someone can stand and has strong legs to balance while doing his business. I am the kind of person who goes by Occham's razor when trying... -

wow, I saw that recipe too, shroom--in the doc's waiting room. Ladies Home Journal, maybe? I dunno.... anyhoo...Maple cream and acorn squash and thought, well, that could be yummy. So....how was it? -
Okay, I have to say it. The name "Mr. Happy" gave me pause yesterday when I saw you listed under New Members. But I see it is not necessarily a name for someone who appears in adult films, but rather a man who has indeed, become happier off gluten. Here's a "whoohoo" !! and good for you! Healing speaks volumes.

Hubs (who would be so embarrassed for me for saying this, so let's not tell him ) had big C for weeks---and I had to talk him into trying it and now, he is so happy. I also make granola bars for us with ground flaxseed in them and they keep things "moving" right along. -

Oh it's a good joke and I got it--reddit reddit. Humor heals and of course, we are not laughing AT linda and her frog, we are laughing with her. I did not just have brain fog (or even a frog), I had brain vaseline. It was not funny at all back then, but I do try to laugh about it now. As for tomato paste out of the can? sure, why not... -
Sorry you feel that way. I agree with you completely! Some people do come off as rude in their delivery and we do try to keep that in check. But I guess I just do not agree with you that the OP was attacked. That is a strong word ---and if it had happened, I would have been one of the first ones to have stepped in. This is just my humble...

Well, then you cannot rule out celiac just yet and you should stay on gluten if you are going to have a biopsy. Talk to your doctor about this as he has not done all the testing yet. -

Aha! well, hon, this may be the giant clue! If dairy is causing C, you may need to give it up. Try So delicious coconut milk or almond milk and see if the C stops. -
Your analysis tries to look at all sides and is very gracious. Number 3 may well be the most telling--as it supports what many have said to her. Number 2 is the primary reason why many members responded. The members acknowledged her reactions as being real. The members offered rational reasons for why she may feel that way (CC from gluten exposure...

Ground flaxseed in a 16 oz. glass of water 2X a day --and more water throughout the day can help. -
ARCHIVED Could A Little Gluten Be Okay For Me?
IrishHeart replied to ramdr's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It is not just anecdotal evidence that it takes 6 months or longer. For any type of system-wise inflammation to resolve, it may take a WHOLE lot longer than that to see improvement. Since fibro, chronic fatigue and IBS are all "syndromes" with no really proven and lasting treatment protocol, then staying on a strict gluten-free diet for a few more months... -

Lupus is a difficult disease, I know. Sorry, hon. I hope that you are finding all you need on here. I will PM you rather than go too far off topic. I have some suggestions for you--to get you started. -

I love using silicon utensils by OXO brand as well: spatulas, spoons, turners. They look like this: Open Original Shared Link yes, they may seem expensive, but you'll have them until you are old --like me. Heat resistant and clean right up. Do not stain, warp, or do any of the things that make the plastic things "oogey". I also have a stainless... -

I know this is just a typo and you're understandably fatigued, but I cannot resist..."brain frog". Linda, welcome to the family. We ALL had brain frogs. ( and sometimes, they return) You're going to be okay, hon! -
yes, my thinking is the same on this FWIW Diabetes + Neuropathy = gluten issue (sorry, Addy, but I have read enough research to make my head spin-- and these almost always go hand -in- hand) The thing is if eliminating gluten can help with managing the diabetes, eventually, the neuropathy (regardless of which autoimmune condition...

. I have not published it yet. Here are a few: #13 : Never let a man pick out furniture alone. Or clothes, especially clothes for YOU. #8: Tell him EXACTLY what you want for Christmas, or risk getting an iron or worse, a chia pet. #6 : Go to bed angry if you want. Don't believe that "never go to bed angry schmaltzy malarkey". Let him fret...
