  1. Karen and the rest of the gang gave you great info. I have a traveling kitchen myself, based on those suggestions. One thing we used on my first gluten-free trip away from home was a cooler in the car that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Worked GREAT!! Handles cartons of coconut milk, juice, sammies, deli meat, fruits, etc...roomy, too. Fits in...
  2. I was going to say something quite similar to Chill's comments, so I will just say..."yes, what she said!" I had virtually all the symptoms you describe. Blood work can be neg and you can still have celiac. (I did) Mucus can be present for many reasons, including celiac. Other causes of mucus in stool are: Ulcerative colitis Crohn's disease...
  3. Molasses is most often made from cane sugar or beets.
  4. Can you eat Pocono buckwheat? No corn.
  5. PM me with your address and I will mail you a box of CHEBE to try so you do not have to buy anything in bulk. I mean it. I am happy to do it!! I've done this before and it is no trouble at all! Honey, you are not a "freak". I suggest you find a celiac support group (I mean besides all of us on here ) so you can have someone to talk with...
  6. Classic response. The simple one. yaay, Sora! Hopefully, hubs will not "see the veggies".
  7. When I see a thread title like this....and then see Adalaide is the author, well I knew it was gonna be good. Honey, if'n you were in my kitchen and I saw you even waving a ketchup bottle near my pasta sauce, I'd smack your hand and give you a stern talking to--and sent to your room without dinner. Better not let Love2Travel see this "recipe"...
  8. I second that!
  9. I remember you very well --and I am so very happy for you, J!!! yaaaay!! Congrats!
  10. Mo, My heart is breaking for you, honey. I can almost feel your sadness and I wish I knew WHY you are having so much trouble with so many foods, even the ones you prepare yourself. It just seems so restrictive for you and I am sure it is very depressing to feel like you have so few options. I have a few foods I do not tolerate well at all and I also...
  11. This could explain his paranoia and rage....
  12. You are absolutely right, Tom. I did misread what Chad said and I will apologize to him personally and also, right here. Sorry, Chad. Please accept my apologies. I will edit my comment to you. Tom, I am not dismissing their experiences; not at all. I did say if digestive enzymes do not agree with them, they should not take them. Please do not...
  13. Okay, I re-read it and I gotcha now! Edited By IH, with apologies: (which Chad graciously accepted via PM citing "No biggie!" what a sweetie Digestive enzymes work with a person's body to digest food when they lack certain enzymes. maybe you just do not need them? If you do not feel well taking them, you should not take them.
  14. and mine was that digestive enzymes do not cause reactions or extend "reaction time". Hon, your joint pain was more likely from the gluten, IMHO.... and it takes a while for it to pass. (it does not matter if you took the enzymes or not---they work on the DIGESTIVE process, NOT the after-effects) so I am guessing that is what made the joint pain. (but...
  15. You could very well have celiac and have a negative blood test. the "latest fad"?? oh for pete's sake!!!!...what an irresponsible and stupid thing to say. "IBS" means an "irritable bowel"...but is not a diagnosis, just a syndrome. WHY is that bowel irritable...is the question! Hon, you are 3 weeks gluten and lactose -free and seeing some relief...
  16. Hon, You just said ----You were glutened. THAT causes the "horrible muscle and joint pain". Not digestive enzymes.
  17. You said "they" and "they"...what do you mean, Chad? the digestive enzymes cause you digestive issues? that is unusual as they are designed to help with digestive issues....but if they do....do not take them.
  18. Hon, may I suggest something? First of all (hug) and please, hear me out. This forum was part of what saved me from dying. My celiac panel was NEG, too. But it was WRONG. Darn 210 (Janet) has given you sound advice. Gemini has, too. No doctor could help me --and I saw dozens in 3 different states--- as I went down hill for 3+ years. I finally...
  19. yup, beans, beans, I love beans, baked beans, black beans, kidney beans ... in fact I am making 3 bean chili right now. (I know it's not snobbery & you know it's not snobbery, but some people might think by saying I am a "super-taster" it may sound "elitist".) I think this subject is right on topic actually, because This, a chemist and a chef...
  20. I wonder, too. I did not want to say that and sound "posh or snobby" (but I know I am one.)
  21. YES!!! I add my applause!! it LOOKS FANTASTIC.
  22. K, I think you are right....it is the G-bean flour that I do not care for. I guess with toppings and flavors, it would be masked and less noticeable. I made a pound cake for the family once using BRM blend. (my one and only time) They LOVED it!!...me, not so much. I asked Hubs quietly, "does this taste all right?" he said.."it's GREAT!" meanwhile...
  23. Isn't she sweet! There goes that inheritance. I was so stunned and flattered when my grand niece saw a pic of me from 20 years ago and pointed and said "hey, that's Auntie!"....I gave her my car. (she is 6)
  24. While I appreciate what you are saying, I have tasted other bean flours and they taste the same to me. It is not because the BRM I tried were rancid, it is just that I do not like that particular taste. What some call "distinctive" ....others may call "blech". Everyone is different.
